Chapter 140 The Fool's Bride for Good Luck 15
It was midday, the sun was at its strongest, and there were still many people on the street. Outside the Lu residence, which had been deserted since the death of the Lu family patriarch, dozens of military vehicles were parked in an orderly manner. Soldiers got out of the vehicles and surrounded the Lu residence, making it completely enclosed.
A curious passerby couldn't resist craning his neck to take a look, and a bullet grazed his neck and pierced through a bluestone slab behind him.
"Oh dear! What's going on here?"
"With this kind of spectacle, anyone who didn't know better would think that Old Master Lu had come back to life and returned victorious from a battle!"
Just then, the Lu family's butler came out of the main gate of the Lu residence.
Out of sheer curiosity, a passerby followed him for a while until the soldiers with guns were out of sight, then approached him and asked, "Hey, Butler Zhao! What's going on at the Lu residence? Why didn't we see your mistress out shopping today?"
Zhao Tongguang continued walking, saying calmly, "Madam is not feeling well and asked me to go find a doctor."
The man's tone was cold, and he exuded an aura of unapproachability. He usually seemed quiet and reserved, but today, perhaps worried about his wife's health, his brows and eyes showed signs of agitation. Passersby dared not ask any more questions and left awkwardly.
Zhao Tongguang walked into Huichuntang.
At the counter, Zhao Wenhong was, as always, dispensing medicine for customers.
“Come with me to the Lu residence,” Zhao Tongguang said.
Zhao Wenhong looked up from the pile of medicinal herbs, her brows furrowing slightly: "Is he sick again?"
“It’s not exactly an illness,” Zhao Tongguang said, struggling to describe what he saw in the room. “She just… fainted.”
...
When Zhao Wenhong arrived at the Lu residence and entered the house, she finally understood the indescribable expression on Zhao Tongguang's face.
The room was filled with a sweet, cloying fragrance, hundreds of times stronger than the one that used to emanate from the old lady, as if every bit of sweetness had been squeezed out of her skin.
The general who had inherited his father's position sat on the edge of the bed, a cigarette dangling from his mouth. Two handprints overlapped on his right cheek, a slash from a dagger cut his left cheek, and a ring of purplish-red pinch marks around his neck. Yet, his eyes and brows were satiated, like a wolf that had just finished eating.
Upon seeing him enter, the man spoke in a hoarse voice: "Come and take his pulse."
Zhao Wenhong lifted the bed curtains, looked down without looking at the naked person wrapped in the quilt on the bed, and just as her fingertips touched the slender white wrist covered with bite marks, a handkerchief was thrown at her.
Zhao Wenhong had no choice but to place a handkerchief on Xie Rong's wrist and take his pulse through the handkerchief.
A moment later.
"Does it really take this long? Your medical skills weren't like this back in the army." Lu Chuan stubbed out his cigarette and glanced at him disdainfully.
Zhao Wenhong withdrew her hand and smiled faintly: "The general also said that was in the past. How can someone who has died once be the same as before?"
“Your wife’s body is not like that of the men in the army. You are being too unrestrained,” Zhao Wenhong said casually as he lowered his head to write the prescription. “If she were my wife, I would never treat her like this.”
Without waiting for Lu Chuan's reaction, he left the prescription and left the house.
Lu Chuan sat quietly for a long time, then lifted a corner of the bed curtain and peeked inside.
The person in the quilt was washed very clean. When he put the person into the bathtub, their legs were still wrapped around his waist. They cursed him for not being a man and refused to get off.
She was so desperate for a man that she eventually fainted in the bathtub. Who was it that lacked self-control?
Lu Chuan bent down, lifted the blanket, and pinched the soft flesh on Xie Rong's cheek, temporarily calming the anger that had been building up in his heart.
What else could I do but forgive him?
...
When Xie Rong woke up, it was already dark.
For a moment, I thought it was just after dark yesterday.
Xie Rong's bare legs, slightly bent under the covers, brushed against the smooth sheets beneath him. He reached under the pillow, only to find nothing.
"I threw away the dagger."
Xie Rong turned his head and realized that the man was sitting silently on the edge of the bed, staring down at him.
Xie Rong was filled with hatred. She grabbed Lu Chuan by the collar of his uniform, pulled him down onto the bed, sat on his waist, and pressed the pillow in her hand against his face, determined to suffocate this despicable man to death.
Lu Chuan pulled out a cold object from behind him and placed it on his plump thigh.
Xie Rong was startled by the coldness and looked down with a stern face.
It was a completely silver pistol, exactly the same one that Lu Chuan had used to execute the servants that night.
Xie Rong held it in his hand, examining it repeatedly by the candlelight, clearly quite fond of it.
This is much more powerful than a dagger.
Xie Rong pulled the trigger on Lu Chuan's heart.
The silver pistol remained motionless.
"Are you playing me?" Xie Rong said coldly.
Lu Chuan sat up, his long legs holding his much smaller wife in his arms. He turned Xie Rong over, his chest pressed against her back, and taught her how to load a bullet. Then he fired a shot at the vase on the table filled with golden roses.
The vase and the roses were shattered into pieces at the same time.
“Gun or useless vase, I guess you prefer the former,” Lu Chuan said, turning his head and pressing his lips against the side of his neck. “Some things, don’t do them again.”
Xie Rong stared at the smoking gun barrel, his pupils gradually becoming excited.
If he could take this gun to the cultivation world, why would he bother cultivating immortality? Whoever made him unhappy, he could just be shot dead.
He thought coldly, "The first one to be executed is the one surnamed Lu."
Xie Rong's eyes were filled with joy. He lowered his head and kissed the muzzle of the gun. The smell of gunpowder fascinated him. He then stuck out his tongue and licked it. The slight heat made his lips turn bright red, like a drop of pigeon blood.
A large hand suddenly gripped his chin, its rough fingertips pressing heavily against his lips.
"You really are something, never forgetting to seduce men," Lu Chuan said in a hoarse voice, then lowered his head and kissed him forcefully.
He no longer had to pretend to be a fool, suppress his desires, or endure his wife's betrayal; he could finally do whatever he wanted.
There was a knock on the door, but no one answered.
A group of servants carrying the evening's dishes looked pleadingly at the butler beside them.
Zhao Tongguang pushed open the door, glancing at the sounds of their lovemaking behind the bed curtains. His tone was calm and even, making sure both of them could hear, "Sir, Madam, dinner is ready."
The second hand on the wall went around a few times.
Lu Chuan was the first to emerge from behind the bed curtains. He straightened his crumpled officer's uniform, knelt down, picked up a light pink high heel, and helped his wife put on the shoe.
Zhao Tongguang withdrew his gaze, turned to the servant, and instructed, "Take it in."
"Oh..." The maid glanced at the butler's wooden face and felt that he seemed to be in a bad mood and a little irritable. The maids around her quietly moved away from him.
The round table was filled with Xie Rong's favorite dishes.
During the meal, Xie Rong suddenly asked, "Where's my cousin?"
Lu Chuan took a bite of the steamed bun. "Dead."
Under the round table, Xie Rong's heels stepped on his military boots.
Lu Chuan calmly changed his story: "He was seriously injured and unconscious, and was sent back to the military region."
"You think you can just do whatever you want with him?" Xie Rong glanced at him sideways.
Lu Chuan nodded: "Of course, my official rank is higher than his."
