☆ Police station, virus outbreak

☆ Police station, virus outbreak

First, she needed to clean up the bloodstains on her body. Ye Xi's security guard uniform was already tattered, and the scattered bloodstains on it looked shocking. Coupled with Ye Xi's disheveled appearance, she would definitely be mistaken for an abused madwoman and sent to a mental hospital if she walked on the street.

Ye Xi walked towards the city while pondering a solution. It was only about 7 a.m., and the park outside the Hive was far from the city, so no one would see Ye Xi, with her hair disheveled, moving like a ghost.

Should she steal another piece of clothing? Ye Xi looked around and finally sighed—okay, stealing another piece of clothing wasn't very realistic, after all, there were no clothing stores around, and even if she was lucky enough to run into one, there was nowhere to take a bath to remove the damn bloodstains from her body! Oh damn it, for the first time, Ye Xi hated why the beehive wasn't built in a no-man's-land.

She absolutely refused to pretend to be crazy, so was she destined to tragically pretend to be a kidnapped girl clinging to a policeman's leg? Ye Xi's lips twitched, but it seemed she couldn't think of a good method so far—okay, that's settled then, I must pick a handsome policeman to cling to later... Damn it, I will never admit that I'm a fan of handsome older men.

After walking for about half an hour, Ye Xi finally reached the edge of the city. Seeing the strange looks she received from the people on the street, Ye Xi forced herself to remain calm and ignore them. She then looked directly at a burly policeman buying coffee by the roadside… No, he's not my type! Ye Xi hesitated for a long time, staring at the black policeman's strong back, but finally couldn't bear the stares from those around her, and rushed over. However, instead of hugging his legs, she pulled at his sleeves: "Please…please, save me! Save me! I don't want to go back!"

The police officer was startled by the sudden appearance of the ghost-like creature, and the coffee he had just bought fell to the ground. He turned around and saw Ye Xi, who was covered in blood, disheveled, and trembling. His heart tightened, and he immediately grabbed her arms anxiously, asking urgently, "What happened? How did you get like this?"

"No...no...don't take me back! No!" Ye Xi screamed in anguish. Seeing that she was very emotional, the policeman immediately comforted her, "No, no one is taking you back, okay? Calm down, calm down, you're safe now, miss. If you don't mind, could you come with me to the police station?"

Ye Xi nodded weakly, but inwardly she was overjoyed. She hadn't expected to fool this police officer so easily, and then be lured—or rather, led—to the police station. On the way to Raccoon City, Ye Xi had discarded all her weapons. To portray herself as a pitiful woman who had been kidnapped and was on the run, she had to throw away grenades, pistols, and daggers to avoid arousing suspicion. But if she remembered correctly, it wouldn't be long before the Umbrella Corporation opened the Hive Gate, and countless zombies would swarm out, turning Raccoon City into a ghost town.

To survive, one must have weapons, but where can Ye Xi find weapons after losing them? The answer is simple—the police station. So now, in Ye Xi's eyes, this kind, burly black man suddenly seems much paler (…).

Following the police officer to the police station, he didn't immediately question Ye Xi or take her statement. Instead, he handed her over to a policewoman. Perhaps this was quite common in police stations. The policewoman took Ye Xi to the bathroom, gave her a clean set of new clothes, and asked if Ye Xi needed any help.

Ye Xi shook her head. Damn it, need someone else's help? All the wounds on her body had long since disappeared due to that completely unenhanced evolution. If others saw her covered in dirt but without any signs of abuse, it would be difficult to continue making up a story.

Ye Xi looked like she hadn't showered in years, taking about an hour to reluctantly leave the showerhead and get dressed. Whether the policewoman had done this kind of thing too often or was originally a tailor before becoming a policewoman, the black short-sleeved shirt she gave Ye Xi was just the right size, along with the jeans and… well, maybe the high heels were a little too big.

Ye Xi stood in front of the mirror, fiddling with her hair. The person in the mirror was just as delicate and frail as Ye Xi had seen her for the first time, giving the immediate impression of a well-bred young lady or a frail, demure woman. This soft, gentle image was more likely to evoke sympathy. Ye Xi furtively touched her chin, then took a deep breath, got into character, and timidly walked out of the bathroom.

The policewoman comforted Ye Xi for a few moments, then led her to the interrogation room. Ye Xi sat across from the desk of the officer who had brought her back, recounting her "kidnapping" experience in fits and starts. However, she mostly gave irrelevant answers to the officer's questions.

At first, Ye Xi was worried that she wouldn't be able to cry and that her acting wouldn't be convincing enough. But when she was actually asked, all the grievances she had suffered since transmigrating to this world suddenly welled up. The resentment, the fear, the helplessness, the pain... all overwhelmed Ye Xi at once, and tears started falling without her noticing, and then they just wouldn't stop.

She truly felt wronged. Ye Xi didn't understand why she had ended up in the Resident Evil scenario; she hadn't made any wishes. As a law-abiding Chinese citizen, Ye Xi had never actually handled a gun, let alone fired one. But for survival, she had to do things against her conscience… Recalling everything that had happened before, the disgusting zombie corpses in her green vision, and the head she had blown apart with her own hands… Ye Xi trembled even more violently—if she had been numb with fear during the initial experience, now it was the lingering dread of brushing past death multiple times.

After arriving here, for the first time, she abandoned an elevator full of people for survival; for the first time, she brutally beat someone's head, even though he was a zombie; for the first time, she nearly lost her life because of a dog; for the first time, she suffered such severe and painful injuries; for the first time, she came so close to death; for the first time, she truly... killed someone...

Seeing Ye Xi crying even harder, the police officer couldn't continue taking her statement. He could only frown and try to comfort her—oh damn it, an hour had passed and he still hadn't gotten her a home address or phone number! What terrifying thing could have scared this girl like this?!

No… Ye Xi, you can’t cry anymore… Ye Xi tried to calm herself down and stop thinking about the things that terrified her, but she just couldn’t stop. Ye Xi, haven’t you become brave already? Don’t waste any more time, the important thing now is to escape, isn’t it?! What’s the use of being afraid? You’ve already survived this long! Don’t forget that those shattered heads that disgust and terrify you were all blown up by you!

Ye Xi bit her lip, her tears slowly stopping, though she continued to sob. "Yes, there's nothing to be afraid of," Ye Xi reassured herself. "Apart from their ugly appearance and tendency to bite, those zombies are fine. And those Lickers—aren't they just big red lizards with their brains turned outwards? They're just fast, that's all. Besides, as long as I don't suffer any fatal injuries, the T-virus won't harm me at all; on the contrary, it can help me evolve and become stronger. What do I have to worry about or be afraid of?"

Think about it, Ye Xi! So zombies and Lickers are all adorable, so incredibly adorable!! And the T-virus is the most endearing, right!!

↑Unbeknownst to her, Ye Xi's worldview, outlook on life, and values have become distorted...

"Miss?" the Black police officer called out. Damn it, he hadn't even gotten her name yet! "Could you tell me your name?"

"...Uh...Ye...Ye Xi..." Ye Xi choked out, she had been crying so hard that she was now sobbing and unable to speak coherently.

"Well then, Miss Ye, although it may sound cruel, could you describe the appearance of the person who took you away, and what the place where you were imprisoned looked like, such as the geographical environment?" The uncle tried to soften his voice so as not to frighten Ye Xi, who looked so weak and even more frail after crying.

Ye Xi was about to recite her prepared lines when a scream interrupted her. A policeman, clutching his bleeding arm, kicked a woman sitting in a chair to the ground. The woman slowly got up and lunged at the policeman again, her mouth agape as if demanding more flesh and blood—

It's started! Ye Xi stared blankly at the woman who had turned into a zombie—she wasn't prepared at all, she hadn't even gotten a weapon! Damn it, how could it be so fast?! It's only 10 o'clock now, which means only a little over 4 hours have passed since she came out!

"What's going on?!" The black police officer sitting opposite Ye Xi stood up in surprise. He looked at the cockroach-like zombie who stubbornly got up from the ground and gnawed on people no matter how the police beat her. He immediately rushed over, restrained her from behind, and handcuffed her to a chair against the wall.

The zombie struggled incessantly, her handcuffed, greyish-white arms straining against the metal cuffs, making them clang, but she couldn't break free. She stared at the people around her with bloodlustful eyes, emitting growls resembling those of a wild beast.

Before things had calmed down, another man suddenly went berserk and started biting at another middle-aged man who was giving a statement. A policeman immediately pulled him away, but the man bit him back.

The police station suddenly descended into chaos. Five or six people simultaneously went berserk, biting at those around them, their mouths filled with blood. They tore off bits of flesh and swallowed them immediately, yet, still unsatisfied, they continued their attack. The police station was filled with screams of agony, accompanied by a faint stench of blood and decay—a scene straight out of hell.

Gunshots suddenly rang out, and a hot, short-haired woman strode in, gun in hand, quickly blowing the heads off several zombies. Her marksmanship was precise and ruthless; before the police could react, she had already blown the heads off four zombies.

"Jill, what are you doing?!" the black police officer exclaimed in surprise.

The beautiful woman named Jill snorted and glanced at him: "You know, they've all been infected with the T-virus and turned into zombies. Only shooting them in the head can stop them!"

After she finished speaking, she continued moving her pistol, blowing the heads off one zombie after another as they lunged at her. The police officer stared blankly at her, then suddenly realized what was happening, drew his pistol from his waist and joined her in blowing the zombies' heads off, glancing at his desk as he did so: "Miss Ye, you need to get out of here right now..."

His voice gradually faded away—Ye Xi had disappeared.

As soon as the police officer pulled away the first woman who had turned into a zombie, Ye Xi secretly slipped out. Taking advantage of most of the police rushing towards the interrogation hall, Ye Xi successfully slipped into the weapons room. Having honed her skills to a high level by hiding from zombies and Lickers in the Hive, Ye Xi found it relatively easy to sneak into the weapons room amidst the chaos.

There was no time to nitpick. Looking at the dazzling array of weapons, Ye Xi immediately pounced, picking out two pistols and tucking them into her waistband, then grabbing three grenades. Finally, her gaze fell upon the AK47 hanging on the wall. Ye Xi hesitated for a moment, but didn't take it. Her only goal now was to escape. There weren't many zombies on the street yet, and taking it would cause panic, so Ye Xi had no choice but to give it up.

She quickly turned around and pushed open the door to the armory, only to bump into a policeman who was coming in to get a weapon. Ye Xi was stunned for a moment, then without hesitation, kicked him in the groin. Ye Xi's reflexes, honed by her experience with zombies and Lickers, were incredibly fast, so she struck first. The policeman could only clutch his groin and fall to the ground, his face contorted in pain.

Ye Xi stepped over his body—she didn't have time to deal with such trivial matters. All she had to do now was to cut in line and escape before the only gate out of Raccoon City closed!
