Chapter 23 Arrival in City B

Ah! So cute!

"Little sister, look at this dog! It's a purebred Czechoslovakian Wolfdog. Look at its teeth, its claws, its build—it's impeccable!"

A shop owner saw Lin Ru squatting in front of the dog cage, her eyes shining as she looked at the little Czechoslovakian wolfhound inside. She couldn't help but smile and go over to her. Only someone who could afford to look at this dog was not short of money.

Lin Ruo nodded to the shopkeeper. She walked around the market, and of all the Czech wolfdogs, this little puppy caught her eye.

The puppy was silver-gray all over. It wasn't irritable even when it was in the cage. Lin Ruo squatted down next to it and watched it. The puppy stared at Lin Ruo with its wet eyes and its little nose twitched a lot. It looked extremely cute.

"Both of this dog's parents are competition dogs, quite excellent, and their bloodlines are absolutely pure." The shop owner stood beside him, bending over. "However, the price is also quite high."

Lin Ruo looked up at the shop owner and asked, "Can I hug it?"

The boss nodded, "Of course."

The owner opened the dog cage, took the puppy out, and handed it to Lin Ruo.

Lin Ruo carefully took the puppy. The puppy kept sniffing at her and even licked her hand, as if trying to get used to her scent. It was incredibly cute.

She used her supernatural abilities to examine the puppy's body. Perhaps it felt too good as the supernatural energy flowed through its body, because the puppy whimpered and moaned with its eyes half-closed.

After the examination, Lin Ruo smiled. The puppy was very healthy, and such puppies were more likely to mutate in the apocalypse.

How much does this dog cost?

The shop owner grinned so hard his teeth were practically showing. "This dog is purebred, it'll cost 40,000."

Lin Ruo didn't haggle. She was in a good mood after finding such a good partner, so she paid the money readily and also ordered a dog cage and some other things the puppy needed from the shop owner.

She asked the shop owner to deliver the puppy to Longyuan Community, then put it in her pet backpack and started browsing the pet market again. She wanted to buy a German Shepherd, and thinking about the guard dog she had seen before, she wondered if she could find one that was just as smart.

She soon found her target: a small German Shepherd lying listlessly in its cage, nudging a toy ball around its mouth, looking utterly bored.

Lin Ruo smiled as soon as she saw it; this little guy must be quite intelligent.

She crouched down and looked directly at the puppy. "Do you want to come with me?"

The little puppy stared at Lin Ruo with its big eyes wide open, tilting its head and looking at her with a puzzled expression, seemingly not understanding what Lin Ruo meant.

But then, its nose twitched, as if it had smelled something pleasant. Its eyes lit up, and it stood up, barking at Lin Ruo!

Lin Ruo smiled immediately. She was lucky today, having encountered two highly intelligent little guys.

She looked up at the shop owner and asked, "Can I take it out so I can see it?"

The boss nodded and turned to greet other customers. Lin Ruo opened the cage, held the puppy in her arms, and used her superpower to check its body. The puppy barked comfortably and almost wagged its tail in the air at Lin Ruo.

The dog was perfectly healthy. Lin Ruo looked up at the shopkeeper and asked, "How much is this dog?"

"This dog costs 30,000. Its parents are both show dogs, incredibly intelligent. This is the lowest price I can offer you." The shop owner was delighted to finally hear someone asking about the dog's price.

This dog is smart, but it has a bit of a temper. Several customers tried to pet it before, but it turned its butt up and avoided them, acting like it didn't want to talk to anyone. The customers all shook their heads and left. It's been almost a week, and only now has someone asked about it.

Lin Ruo looked down at the puppy in her arms. It seemed to know that it was expensive and was afraid that Lin Ruo would not buy it, so it kept burrowing into her arms anxiously and whimpering.

She smiled slightly; this little guy was so cunning, he was practically a genius.

Lin Ruo paid the money, and then she became the most dazzling person in the pet market, with a pet backpack hanging in front of her containing a German Shepherd, and another one on her back containing a Czech Wolfhound.

When I brought the two little guys home, the shop owner had just delivered the things the dogs needed. I waited downstairs. The community garden wasn't far from Building 3. Several middle-aged women were sitting in the garden, chatting and watching their children, and they were curiously looking this way.
