The arrow once again deviated from its originally planned route and flew directly to the target next door.
I don’t know if it was a sudden stroke of luck, but the arrow miraculously hit the bull’s eye of the target next to me.
Fujiwara Yu frowned, put down his longbow, and walked quickly towards the high wall. He looked up at the strange girl who was sitting on the edge of her own wall and refused to come down. The girl even waved at him with a smile. Didn't she know that this behavior constituted trespassing?
It's true that we live in a peaceful era, and the legal awareness of ordinary people is so weak.
"It's very dangerous to enter the archery arena without permission, don't you know?" Fujiwara Yu raised his eyebrows slightly and said in an unhappy tone: "And... how long do you plan to sit on my wall?"
Miyano Akemi naturally had no habit of sitting on other people's walls. It was only after she climbed up that she realized that the wall was so high. She had indeed overestimated her own strength and was now in a difficult situation.
So when she saw that there was someone at home, she happily waved to him to help her out.
"I'm sorry, my letter got blown away and ended up at your house. Could you please help me find it?" Miyano Akemi was afraid he didn't know, so she gestured to the size of the envelope and said, "It's this big, rectangular."
Fujiwara Yuu realized that it was his own practice of wind power that caused this, and his expression softened considerably. He looked around but didn't see the envelope. Just as he was about to respond, he saw the girl pointing to the cherry trees planted in the courtyard and exclaimed:
"In the tree!"
"Then I'll help you get it."
After Fujiwara Yu blurted out this sentence, he remembered that he could not use the power of wind in front of other people. If he was discovered, he would be captured by a strange organization and used as a guinea pig for human experiments.
Seeing him standing there without moving, Miyano Akemi blinked and thought for a moment before asking:
"Can't you climb a tree?"
"meeting."
Fujiwara Yuu used his height advantage to easily climb to the top of the tree in just two steps, took the envelope and jumped down. He turned around and found that the girl was still sitting on the wall. She looked confused and said:
"Why don't you come down?"
"...I'm waiting for you to help me. I don't dare."
Fujiwara Yuu didn't expect that this girl who could climb the wall would not dare to get down. Since the incident was caused by himself, he still kindly reminded her:
"Okay, then be careful."
Miyano Akemi jumped down. She was glad that she was wearing safety pants. When she noticed that the boy was struggling to hold her and his face turned red, she couldn't help but wonder if she had gained weight by eating too many desserts recently.
"Thank you, you can put me down now."
“…Yeah, okay.”
He only loosened his tightly clenched gentleman's hand after he put the girl down. Fujiwara Yu, who looks thin but actually has muscles, naturally has the ability to hold the girl, but he is a little embarrassed about physical contact with the opposite sex.
"I got the letter. I won't disturb you from practicing Kyudo anymore. Bye."
"Um."
Fujiwara Yu twisted his wrist and prepared to go back to practice, but he accidentally noticed a small leaf that fell on the girl's head. She seemed not to notice the existence of the leaf.
He stretched out his index finger and gently hooked it inward. A breeze blew the leaves above the girl's head into his palm. Such a small movement would not be noticed if it was performed behind her.
Fujiwara Yuu put the leaf aside, gathering his thoughts and strode towards the shooting range. He didn't rush to continue practicing, but instead picked up the alcohol disinfectant spray that had been placed nearby and sprayed it several times on the area that had just touched the girl before feeling better.
This was a bad habit he had developed in his previous life as a doctor. Whenever he came into contact with people, he would want to disinfect them with alcohol, and would feel at ease only after spraying them twice. Ever since he regained his memory... he had picked up this bad habit again, which was quite strange.
Fujiwara Yu put down the alcohol disinfectant spray and did not use the power of wind to push the arrow to speed up this time, because he was afraid that another strong wind would blow the letter taken away by the girl back to his house.
But he didn't know that after walking around the courtyard and finding that the gate was locked, Miyano Akemi returned to the archery field and heard with her own ears the sound of the strings that made her heart beat faster, as well as the handsome profile of the young man after he returned from the archery.
Boom!
Whoosh—pop.
The arrow landed steadily on the red heart of the target, and the fair little hand climbed up to her heart. Miyano Akemi didn't even notice that the envelope in her hand became wrinkled because of the subconscious tightening of her fingers.
It felt like a calm lake where an outsider suddenly threw a stone into the center, disturbing the tiny petals floating on the water and causing endless ripples.
Fujiwara Yu was in a good mood when he saw the arrow hitting the bull's eye. He wanted to shoot another arrow while his hand was hot, but he keenly noticed someone's gaze falling on him. He looked to the side and found that it was the girl who had climbed up the wall just now and was afraid to come down.
He tilted his head slightly and asked doubtfully:
"Didn't you already get the letter? Why are you still here?"
Miyano Akemi realized that her gaze had lingered on someone else's face for a little too long, so she quickly took a step to the side to hide half of her body, and half-poked her head to explain:
"I'm sorry to disturb your practice, but your door is locked and I can't get out."
When Fujiwara Yuu noticed the girl's behavior, his expression darkened slightly. Was he really like a monstrous beast, needing to hide against the wall before talking to her?
"Oh, then wait for me for a moment."
Fujiwara Yu carefully put the longbow into his bag and walked towards the door.
Walking around the courtyard and reaching the gate, he reached out to touch the stone eagle, but then he remembered his father's words of advice. He unnaturally turned his hand and put it in his pocket, saying stiffly:
