Chapter 24: What a Big Fish

"Then we'll pick up the big ones and leave the small ones behind. Let them grow bigger and come back next time."

So the three of them took off their shoes and socks, rolled up their trouser legs, and went into the water to pick up abalone.

Abalone is within reach. You don’t need to pry it out like you would with oysters, which is a time-consuming and laborious process. You also don’t need to be on guard against it absorbing sand like picking cat’s eye snails. You just need to pick it up quickly and squeeze out the water.

To pick up abalone, just pick one you like, bend down and reach out to pick it out.

In a short while, the three of them had picked up half a bucket.

The bigger the abalone, the more valuable it is, and the smaller the abalone, the cheaper it is. The three of them were so busy picking up the big ones that they were simply too busy to handle it all.

“Plop!”

There was a huge splash of water, and the three of them looked up and saw a pink dolphin jumping out of the water.

Then came the pods of dolphins leaping out of the sea.

Chen Qiuju murmured in amazement.

Jian Yuelan nodded. It was indeed beautiful. This scene could be painted or embroidered.

“This isn’t a fish.”

Jian Yuelan corrected him with a twitch of her lips. Sister Bai exclaimed, "If it's not fish, then what is in the sea?"

"There are not only fish in the sea, but also dolphins, whales, sharks and so on."

The implication is: Don't think everything you see is a fish.

Mrs. Bai suddenly realized, "So this thing called pig can't be eaten?"

"Protecting animals is not right to eat..."

Jian Yuelan, who realized belatedly that there was no law protecting animals, changed her tone and said, "Give up, sister-in-law. We can't catch dolphins."
