Chapter One: A Warm-hearted Girl

The capital was indeed different from other places. Although the prosperity of the streets could not compare to the glitz and glamour of the big cities in his previous life, Wu Yu knew from the relaxed smiles on the faces of the pedestrians that these people must be living happy lives.

The facilities on the street are also remarkably complete, offering everything from food and drinks to entertainment.

Wu Yu and Violet had been strolling around the city for almost half an hour when Wu Yu finally turned around and asked, "Violet, where are we going next?"

"I don't know," Violet replied without hesitation, as she had been enthusiastically gazing at the street scene.

Wu Yu's smile froze instantly. He stopped in his tracks, grabbed Violet's collar with a sudden movement.

"What are you doing, Wu Yu?" Violet turned her head and said with displeasure.

"Since you don't even know where this is, why are you running around so happily? The sun is almost setting! Do you want to sleep on the streets tonight?" Wu Yu roared angrily, his eyes blazing with fury.

This brat is such a handful! Ever since she separated from Layton and the others, and without Ella mediating, Violet has become increasingly difficult to manage.

Violet shrugged uncomfortably, her long ponytail lashing against Wu Yu's hand like a whip. Although it didn't hurt, Wu Yu still let go.

"Wu Yu, don't worry. Your brother has already arranged where we're going, but this is my first time going out. I only know the name of the place and have no idea how to get there," Violet said matter-of-factly.

"Tell me the name of the place, and I'll ask for directions," Wu Yu said, trying to remain calm and composed as he suppressed his frustration.

“My brother told me to go to the Dragon Merchant Guild and find a woman named Yifang Hill after I arrive in the capital. She will help me arrange my life in the capital,” Violet replied.

"Woman? What's her relationship with your brother?" Upon hearing this word, Wu Yu seemed to smell gossip, and his focus shifted.

“Just a casual friend,” Violet replied casually, seemingly unwilling to talk about him.

"Could it be your future sister-in-law?" Wu Yu joked.

“I don’t know, but even if I did, so what? My brother is gone anyway.” Violet replied with a somber expression. That moment of despondency made Wu Yu realize that this child seemed to still be grieving.

"I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said that." Realizing his slip of the tongue, Wu Yu quickly apologized.

"It's alright, let's go." Violet forced a smile and urged.

“Okay.” Wu Yu nodded and led Violet toward their lodgings for the night.

After walking only a few steps, Violet suddenly asked, "Wu Yu, do you know the way to the Dragon Merchant Guild?"

"Of course I don't know him, after all, this is my first time here too." Wu Yu replied lazily. Just then, he saw a pedestrian with a friendly face and immediately went over to ask, "Excuse me, how do I get to the Dragon Merchant Guild?"

······

The residents here are quite friendly. As we asked around, almost no one refused to help. But this big city is different from the small villages with only one or two main roads that Wu Yu used to live in. The roads here are winding and crisscrossing.

For example, a pedestrian told him to turn right at the next intersection, but when he got there, he was shocked to find that it wasn't a crossroads, but a zigzag intersection. They ended up wandering around for half an hour without even seeing a trace of the Dragon Merchant Guild.

"How about we find a hotel to stay in for the night and continue looking tomorrow?" Wu Yu had given up. He was completely clueless and felt that continuing to look would be a waste of time.

"That's the only way." After the initial excitement of arriving in the capital, Violet was a little tired and agreed to Wu Yu's idea.

Just as Wu Yu and his companions were dejected and about to give up, someone who had been following them for some distance walked over.

"Excuse me, do you need any help?"

"Yes! Yes!" Violet nodded quickly in agreement.

However, Wu Yu was frowning as he observed the newcomer.

Wu Yu now habitually observes the other party's clothing first. It wasn't cloth or leather armor suitable for combat, and the other party wasn't carrying any weapons. This initially relieved Wu Yu, but the more he looked, the stranger it seemed.

This is a young girl, but the clothes she is wearing are clearly unsuitable for a young girl. A set of plain gray cloth clothes, which looks particularly good on her, but other than that, they have no redeeming qualities.

Wu Yu felt that it was similar to a primary school uniform, covering the body completely without any embellishment, making full use of the clothing's practicality.

If someone is poor, it's understandable that they can't afford nice clothes, but this guy's clothes don't even have a single patch. His ten fingers are slender and untouched by the world, clearly indicating that he has never done any heavy work. Even middle-aged women who have lost their beauty would at least embroider some lace on their hems. Why is it that you, at the prime of your life, have no love for beauty at all?

After lingering on the girl's face for a while, his first impression of her was that she was ordinary. Wu Yu estimated that he would forget about such an ordinary face after turning away for three seconds. But the more he looked at her, the more surprised he became. He couldn't find any flaws in such an ordinary face.

Even though Wu Yu wasn't exactly a seasoned womanizer, spending all his time with a top beauty like Violet gave him at least some ability to appreciate beauty.
