Chapter Seventeen: Escaping the Giant Pit

Wu Yu was once again stuck in a dead end. Ultimately, the information he had was not enough for him to deduce the whole story.

"Forget it, this place is not safe to stay any longer. Let's leave first." Wu Yu temporarily put aside his doubts and walked towards the distant forest.

Although his strength has improved, he still hasn't gotten rid of his need for food. Even if it weren't for the demons who might escape from the giant pit, he would still need to solve his own food problem first.

He was surprisingly energetic when he woke up, but Wu Yu had no supplies. Although the storage space was a sterile environment, all the dry food he had stored had gone bad.

"Let's find a human settlement first," Wu Yu quickly planned out his next priority.

Entering the forest, broken tree stumps can be seen everywhere, indicating that the war has spread to distant places.

However, the vitality was not destroyed. Wu Yu even saw some new tree buds. At least the demons wouldn't destroy all the vitality that passed by.

And so, Wu Yu wandered around this land that had been corrupted by demons with a scrutinizing gaze, and then he tragically discovered that he was lost.

To be precise, it wasn't so much that he got lost, because Wu Yu had no idea where he was going.

Eating the fruit he picked from the tree, Wu Yu's current skills would at least prevent him from starving to death, but he had absolutely no idea how to get out of this forest.

After wandering around aimlessly for three days, Wu Yu was lucky enough to finally encounter a group of intelligent beings.

To be precise, Wu Yu was approached by someone.

Wu Yu was sleeping under a big tree at the time. With his extraordinary senses, he noticed the approaching creature immediately.

When he opened his eyes, he saw several green goblins sneaking towards him.

Wu Yu opened his eyes and stared into their yellow eyes for a few seconds, trying to figure out what they were up to. But the goblins gave up on their sneak attack and instead raised their tattered short swords to stab at Wu Yu.

They wanted to kill me, so Wu Yu didn't hold back. He took out two shovels and smashed them on the heads, spitting out their brains.

Watching the two monsters die at his hands, Wu Yu felt much better. He hadn't found a way to vent his frustration before, and the fact that Violet had ambushed him still bothered him.

However, Wu Yu was not led by his emotions. After blowing the heads off two more goblins, Wu Yu threw away the two dirty weapons and then charged towards the last goblin that had begun to flee.

Wu Yu grabbed the goblin by the back of his neck, lifted the goblin's body, which was about the size of a child, and slammed him to the ground. Wu Yu controlled his strength; the blow was painful, but it wouldn't kill him.

Throwing the seemingly dying goblin to the ground, Wu Yu commanded in standard demon language, "Take me to your tribe."

Gathering intelligence from such low-intelligence creatures is a complete waste of time. Wu Yu plans to wipe out his entire tribe. To become the leader of a tribe, he should at least be a hero of the goblin race, and his intelligence should be similar to that of a normal human.

When the time comes, obtaining information from their leader should be enough to satisfy my most basic needs.

After trembling and begging for mercy, the goblin betrayed his tribe without hesitation. For such a lowly demon race, the concepts of morality and shame simply do not exist.

Led by the goblin, Wu Yu quickly arrived at his tribe.

Wu Yu wasn't so arrogant as to rush in recklessly. He chose a high spot and carefully observed the situation of the tribe.

There are over a hundred houses built of wood, and conservatively speaking, the number of goblins here must be well over a thousand.

Such a large number of people could not possibly be the natives of the Endless Forest; they must have come from the Demon Realm.

This made Wu Yu a little wary. The goblins' combat power was even less than that of an ordinary human. Even if there were many of them, Wu Yu could still mow them down. What he feared was that there might be other powerful monsters among them.

"Hey, who's your leader? What race is he? How strong is he?" Wu Yu kicked the goblin next to him and said fiercely.

"Chief Uru, a troll, is very powerful," the goblin said in awe.

As expected of a low-level demon, he didn't even know how strong his boss was. After deciding that this goblin had no use, Wu Yu casually snapped his neck and dragged him away to burn him to ashes.

Wu Yu returned to the high ground, preparing for a long-term battle.

Trolls are also a type of monster recorded in the monster encyclopedia. They are much more advanced than goblins and kobolds and can be considered an elite race in the demon world. They are generally not used as cannon fodder.

According to the book, adult trolls are generally high-level superhumans. There are also geniuses in their race who have broken through to the Saint level. However, since they would recruit a group of goblins as their underlings, they must not be doing very well in their own race.

This is a characteristic of the demon race. They are generally born with higher attribute values, but in terms of potential, they are not even as good as the physically weak humans. It seems that no saint-level powerhouse has ever been born among the low-level demon races like goblins.

If we consider a normal troll as the hypothetical enemy, Wu Yu believes he can handle it.

What's more troublesome are his more than a thousand underlings. Wu Yu is confident in taking on a thousand goblins or a troll by himself, but if the two are combined, Wu Yu feels a bit overwhelmed.
