It's so dark!
Wu Yu curled up in the cramped space, hugging his knees, and closed his eyes. He longed to fall asleep as soon as possible so that the crazy thoughts in his mind would no longer torment him.
"Host, are you just going to stand by and watch Jack go to his death?" However, the system wouldn't let him have his way.
"Didn't you say you were going to be an observer? Why are you back now?" Wu Yu replied irritably.
"Inner monologues are part of the plot, and I really didn't expect that you, host, could be so ruthless," the system teased in a lighthearted tone.
"First of all, I'm not being heartless. I'm just powerless. Do I have to die with Jack to be considered loyal and righteous? Wouldn't that be letting him down?"
Secondly, my survival wasn't at Jack's expense; he simply didn't forget to save others even when he was certain of death. Therefore, I respect him, but I feel no guilt towards him.
"Do you understand now? You're just a tool without any feelings."
Wu Yu interpreted the current situation with a detached attitude; he could not allow such a wicked person to condemn him.
"You clearly possess power, yet you lack even the courage to step forward and challenge. Tell me, Wu Yu, what are you afraid of?" The system mercilessly exposed Wu Yu's cowardice.
"That's all your fault." Wu Yu had been driven to the brink and had no idea what to do. All he could do now was launch a desperate and reckless counterattack.
"If you handed over the power of the account to me, would I still need to flee in such a panic? If you told me what price I needed to pay to defeat the Demon King, would I still need to go crazy and struggle with this in my mind? I'm telling you, system, it's all your fault. The deaths of the people of the desolate city, the deaths of Jack, it's all your fault."
"I, Wu Yu, have only done something that any ordinary human being would do. No one in this world has the right to criticize me," Wu Yu roared fiercely in his heart.
"Fear of the unknown? You're right, after all, you're just an ordinary person." This time, the system didn't blame Wu Yu, but instead showed a hint of approval.
"You evil demon king, I am Jack Russell, Baron of the Oak Empire. For the honor of the nobility, I hereby challenge you."
Jack's loud voice traveled through the wooden planks to his ears.
After a loud bang, Wu Yu could no longer hear Jack's movements.
Jack is dead?
When this thought surfaced in my mind, a tremendous sense of sorrow followed.
Even during Wu Yu's most agonizing moments, he never imagined he would feel sadness for a stranger he had only known for a few days.
Wu Yu gripped the scroll and dagger left by Jack tightly, completely unaware of the pain that once terrified him.
Suddenly, Wu Yu opened his mouth and began to laugh silently.
He knew that he was still alive and had hope for life, and since he didn't think he had done anything wrong, he wouldn't have to live with guilt in the future.
Perhaps when I become powerful enough, I might even be able to avenge Jack.
With beautiful hopes for the future, the sadness in my heart gradually began to be soothed.
That's how it is; only by facing difficulties with a smile can one be considered a qualified human being.
But life is rarely as one wishes.
Just when Wu Yu was most relaxed, he felt a tremendous force in his left hand.
Jerry, whom he had almost forgotten, suddenly launched a surprise attack on him.
Wu Yu, whose strength was no match for Jerry's, had the magic scroll snatched from his hand with almost no resistance.
Wu Yu lived up to his reputation for having a clever mind; even in such a sudden situation, he instantly realized what Jerry was planning to do.
Wu Yu had never been so angry in his life. Jerry was going to ruin Jack's good intentions. By doing so, all of Jack's efforts would be in vain, and even Jack's last wish would not be fulfilled.
A terrifying thought formed in Wu Yu's mind. He gripped the dagger tightly in his hand and began to scroll through the skill bar in front of him.
Suddenly, Wu Yu's body trembled. He threw the dagger in his hand to the ground in horror, and then watched helplessly as Jerry opened the magic scroll in his hand.
Storm Hammer
"boom"
A massive air-compression cannon shot out from the scroll, easily blasting aside the wooden plank overhead, just as Jack had predicted, and carrying the plank dozens of meters into the air before dissipating.
Sand began to fall from the sky, soaking Jerry and Wu Yu until they were covered in dust, but the two of them didn't care at all.
Jerry braced himself against the high platform and leaped into the air. He was completely unafraid of the thousands of troops before him. With his bloodshot eyes wide open, he roared out the only thought in his heart: "Demon King, I will make you pay for your blood debt."
However, no reply came from the black mist this time. In His eyes, this human was not even a clown, and had not even embarked on the path of transcendence. He was not qualified to receive a reply from Him.
"Hahaha, hahaha, hahahaha."
Suddenly, a burst of wild laughter came from the sandpit.
Wu Yu had never laughed so unrestrainedly and so loudly before, as if he wanted to vent all the complex emotions in his heart through laughter.
"What's wrong, host? Are you mocking the impermanence of life?" the system asked curiously.
