Chapter Thirty-Five: The Savior Arrives

Wu Yu did this not because he was cowardly, but because he knew he absolutely couldn't handle this situation, even if he had recovered his left hand.

Wu Yu now essentially possesses the ability to instantly kill anyone twice, but the awkward thing is that his only known enemy is the demon above his head. Even if he suspects the Pope is problematic, he can't just kill the Pope without asking any questions.

After all, the Pope is backed by the entire Church of Light. None of those cardinals are people Wu Yu can defeat. Moreover, there is also the Outer God Alliance lurking in the shadows. Unless Wu Yu wipes out everyone in the capital at once, he will definitely be the one to die in the end.

Since there's no way to save the people of the capital, why would Wu Yu wantonly commit murder?

“Wu Yu, don’t take the risk. Let’s go to the Church of Light together. With the Pope in charge, we will definitely be able to get through this calamity.” Eugene shook his head, completely disapproving of Wu Yu’s plan.

"Alright, I'll be going now." Wu Yu didn't want to waste any more time here. Everyone has their own choices. Wu Yu had already done more than enough by being willing to bring Eugene along as a burden. If the other person didn't want to, Wu Yu couldn't just kidnap him.

"Wait, Wu Yu, Violet asked me to protect you. It's not safe outside, please don't act alone." But at this moment, Virginia, who had been silent all along, spoke up.

Wu Yu couldn't see any concern from her; she was just doing what others asked of her.

I never expected that Violet would inadvertently bring about so many coincidences. Violet was probably just worried about herself, but she didn't know that Virginia was the kind of person who was stubborn and inflexible.

Wu Yu now has two choices. The first is to ask Virginia to stop protecting him, but this would conflict with Violet's request, causing Virginia to fall into logical confusion. This seems to be a taboo of the Church of Light. The Pope is standing in front of him right now, and Wu Yu doesn't want to start a war with him in such a muddled way.

As for the second option, it would be to have Virginia come with him. Virginia would definitely agree, but Wu Yu didn't know if the Pope would be willing.

So Wu Yu looked at the Pope with a questioning gaze. What he could think of, this old guy couldn't possibly not have thought of. As long as he didn't want to fall out with the Pope, he had to hand over his right to stay or leave to the Pope.

The Pope nodded slightly to Wu Yu, pleased with his tact, and then spoke in a kind, grandfatherly tone.

"Sir, please come with me to the church. It is God's domain, and these filthy demons dare not offend it. As for that Miss Violet, after I settle the refugees in the church, I can use divine magic to help you find her."

If Wu Yu hadn't known there was something wrong with the old man, he would have actually wanted to thank him.

"All right."

In the end, Wu Yu compromised. Since he had already been drawn into the center of the vortex, Wu Yu did not intend to continue to run away. Following the Pope might be an opportunity. As long as he figured out who was hiding in the shadows, no matter how many schemes and tricks they had, it would be a matter of one sword for Wu Yu.

Moreover, Wu Yu had a vague premonition that this matter would involve Virginia, and he wanted to see how they would take advantage of Virginia's kindness.

······

Limbs and severed bodies were everywhere. The demons did not only kill, but sometimes they also devoured human flesh.

The once bustling capital city now seemed to have transformed into a bloody slaughterhouse.

Violet was navigating this environment, having narrowly escaped countless demons flying overhead, but good fortune can't always favor the same person.

Just as Violet turned a corner, she saw a little girl trembling under the gaping maw of a demon, while several corpses lay scattered around her.

This was the first time Violet had encountered someone who hadn't yet perished at the hands of a demon, and without hesitation, she charged straight at the demon.

As she ran, she took out her staff and chanted, "Petrify!" [Stone Bullet]

A stone struck the demon squarely on the head, but did not cause it any harm.

The demon temporarily abandoned the delicious food in front of him and looked at Violet, who had just offended him.

He decided to torment this weak creature, who was oblivious to its own mortality, and make it realize just how foolish its mistake had been.

"Roar!" The demon roared at Violet, and the sixth-level pressure and powerful sound waves blew Violet to the ground.

The demon reveled in the pleasure of slowly torturing his prey. He suddenly felt that the previous killing had been too hasty, and this time he was determined to have his fill.

But why doesn't this human's eyes show the same fear as other humans? Has he been scared out of his wits? There's even pity in his eyes.

"I'm sorry." Violet sincerely apologized to the demon who had tried to harm her.

"Roar." Feeling insulted, the demon could no longer contain himself and launched his fiercest attack on Violet.

Violet calmly took out a blue magic crystal, and as magic was poured into it, the crystal began to shine brightly.

The demon was startled; being cunning by nature, it immediately stopped its attack and went into defense.

It turned out to be a false alarm; he was unharmed. Enraged, he launched another attack.

"Demons, this is not a land you are allowed to set foot on."

A warning suddenly reached the demon's ears, but he could not find the source of the sound. At that moment, he saw a tall figure blocking his prey. He was about to tear this overconfident human apart when he found that his body could not move.
