Chapter Six: Overpowering Others

Since the Demon invasion began, the Adventurers' Guild has basically stopped issuing missions due to the Empire's insufficient fighting power. Most adventurers with a bit of courage have gone to the front lines. The saying "every man has a responsibility for the fate of his country" applies to this other world as well.

It was because the demons attacked Green Town that those adventurers traveled all the way back to protect their homeland.

At this moment, the Adventurers' Guild in Green Town was also being used as their temporary combat command post.

Wu Yu stood outside looking at the Adventurers' Guild sign and suddenly felt like laughing. He had almost forgotten that he was a registered adventurer, but he didn't seem to have done a single mission. Was it really a good idea to entrust a task like resisting the demons to a Black Iron-level adventurer like himself?

Well, let's just say that those who are capable should do more.

Without letting their minds wander any further, Wu Yu and Layton went straight into the Adventurers' Guild.

"Lydon, are you alright? Is there any unusual activity at Russell Manor?" The people inside asked as soon as they saw Lydon return. These were extraordinary times, and they were extremely nervous. Any slight disturbance would make them consider the possibility that the demons had arrived ahead of schedule.

"It's nothing, it must have been an accident. At least I didn't find any trace of demons." Layton shook his head, stating Wu Yu's guess.

"That's good." Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, then looked at the two people who came in with Layton and asked warily, "May I ask who these two are?"

Although this is a time when all of humanity is united in resisting foreign enemies, we cannot rule out those who take advantage of the national crisis to make a fortune. At this critical juncture, the people of Green Town cannot tolerate any unexpected factors.

"Let me introduce you. This is Wu Yu. You may not know him, but he is a friend of Miss Violet, the head of Russell Manor. Although Miss Violet has passed away, Wu Yu is still willing to protect Green Town with us." Layton pointed to Wu Yu and explained.

Then, pointing to Joyce, he said, "This elf is Miss Joyce, Wu Yu's companion."

Upon hearing that Wu Yu knew Violet, the adventurers' guard noticeably lowered. They weren't familiar with Violet, but even after ten years, Jack's influence still held sway. The stronger members of the adventurers had been here for ten years.

"I see. Well, Mr. Wu Yu, thank you for your help. There's a shortage of manpower in the eastern part of the town. I wonder if you could go and guard it?" A rather burly man, fully encased in armor, seemed to be the leader here. He stepped forward with a smile and asked Wu Yu.

"This is Yul, the strongest person in our town right now, a fifth-tier transcendent." Layton whispered to Wu Yu, knowing what Wu Yu wanted to do. Although they would inevitably have to fight in the end, he didn't want Wu Yu to provoke public anger right from the start.

Wu Yu gave Layton a reassuring look, then stepped forward and said coldly, "I'm not willing."

Yu'er's face stiffened. He hadn't expected Wu Yu to be so unruly. However, considering their current difficult situation, he forced a smile and advised, "Since Mr. Wu Yu has stepped forward at this time, he must be a highly skilled martial artist. But this is war, not a time for personal heroism. Please follow our unified arrangements, Mr. Wu Yu. Of course, if you have better plans, feel free to speak up."

Yu'er's attitude was acceptable. Given Wu Yu's way of dealing with people—if someone treats me with respect, I'll treat them with equal respect—he might have given him face in other situations.

But now, if Wu Yu needs to suppress all dissent with his invincible demeanor, then I'm sorry.

Wu Yu said in a condescending tone, "I don't think closing the city off is a good strategy. Only by taking the initiative can we truly protect Green Town."

"Nonsense! The demons are far stronger than us. If we don't defend our strongholds, how can we possibly defeat them?" Yur finally snapped. He felt that Wu Yu was here to disrupt the morale of the army.

"Heh, even if we really repel the demons, it will be a Pyrrhic victory. What use is a desolate land if the vast majority of the inhabitants die?" Wu Yu said disdainfully.

“That’s still better than going straight to your death,” Yul retorted.

"You guys are indeed going to your deaths, but don't you still have me?" Wu Yu pointed to himself and said confidently.

"Could you be a Saint?" Yul exclaimed in surprise. In his mind, only a Saint among mortals would be qualified to make such a bold statement, but he couldn't understand why those Saints, who were the pillars of humanity, would go to such an insignificant and remote village.

"No." Wu Yu shook his head. If he were truly a Saint-level expert, he wouldn't need to waste time talking. He could simply unleash his pressure and issue orders. Unfortunately, such things cannot be faked.

"But as long as the demon race doesn't send a Saint-level expert, I alone can defeat an army of thousands," Wu Yu added, roughly explaining his strength.

"Ridiculous." Yul laughed angrily. "Among those of the same level, numbers are king. No matter how talented you are, three people can take you down at most. Wu Yu, you can leave now. Green Town does not welcome you."

"Get out!" "Get out!" "Get out!"

The other adventurers echoed the call, only refusing to join in because of Layton.

"Sigh." Layton sighed in frustration. He was powerless to change things at this point. He could only hope that Wu Yu really possessed the power he had described. Otherwise, he would have no choice but to ask Wu Yu to leave.

"This is the tragedy of the weak!" Wu Yu couldn't help but sigh. "You actually tried to judge others by your own standards. Today, let me show you what true invincibility among your peers really means."
