Chapter Five: Meeting an Old Friend

"Even if the villagers have a heart full of passion, it doesn't change the fact that they are just a rabble. They would be easily crushed in front of a regular army. If you count them as combat power, it will have already sown the seeds of defeat. The demons have wiped out so many villages and towns with small squads. Do you think you will be an exception?" Wu Yu asked rhetorically.

“But if we don’t rely on the villagers, how can we possibly withstand an army of tens of thousands of demons with just a few hundred of us superhumans?” Layton said, puzzled.

"Theoretically, it's definitely impossible to stop them. The villagers are the ones you should be protecting. If all the villagers die, what's the point of defeating the demons? Be prepared, this will be a war that belongs only to us extraordinary beings." Wu Yu defined the nature of this war decisively.

“Impossible. We can’t possibly protect the whole town on our own. The villagers must be prepared to defend themselves.” Layton completely disagreed with Wu Yu’s statement.

“That’s right. If we’re defending the city, a few hundred people definitely can’t cover everything. But if we’re attacking, we can concentrate our forces in one place.” Wu Yu pointed out the key to the problem.

"What do you mean?" Layton vaguely guessed Wu Yu's intention.

"We shouldn't be on the defensive, but rather take the initiative. We should concentrate our forces and ambush the demons on their inevitable route. We should abandon our advantage in defending the city and decide the outcome of the battle with the demon army halfway there," Wu Yu slowly revealed his plan.

Layton was somewhat tempted, but he quickly shook his head and said, "No, your plan is too crazy. No one else will agree to it."

"It doesn't matter. The strong never need the approval of the weak," Wu Yu said nonchalantly. "I don't like to talk nonsense, but since we're all of the same kind, I'll reluctantly try to reason with them."

Wu Yu raised his fist and revealed a playful smile.

Layton felt a chill run down his spine; he sensed that someone was about to be in trouble.
