Chapter Two: Arrival at Home

···

Jack's estimation of the journey was practically like electronic navigation; they arrived at Jack's house before sunset without incident.

Even though Wu Yu was prepared, he was still stunned by the scene before him.

Wu Yu's living conditions in the past were above average, but compared to the wealthy families living in manors of several thousand square meters, they were really nothing.

As soon as the carriage arrived at the gate, a group of people walked out of the gate.

A fair-skinned and beautiful maid stood side by side on the right, while a young and handsome waiter stood on the left.

Emerging from the center was a kind-faced, white-haired old man. Despite his age, his butler-like attire still made him look as capable and shrewd as ever.

The old butler bowed slightly and said softly, "Welcome home, Master Jack."

"Sorry to keep you waiting," Jack replied casually, then led Wu Yu down from the carriage.

A waiter silently stepped out of the queue and came over to lead Jack's carriage to the ranch.

"We just got ready too, after all, Young Master Jack is always punctual," the old butler replied politely, then glanced at Wu Yu, who seemed a little reserved.

"You must be Lord Wu Yu, whom Young Master Jack mentioned in his letter. Your room is ready. Please follow the maid to your room to rest. Dinner is being prepared and someone will come to inform you later."

"Oh." Wu Yu, a country bumpkin, had never seen anything like this before. Now, besides nodding in agreement, he had no idea what else he could do.

“No need, Wu Yu will continue to work with me later.” Jack stepped forward to stop him, his gaze shifting without stopping, but he couldn’t seem to find his target. Finally, he asked somewhat anxiously, “Where’s my sister?”

"Miss was overjoyed to learn that you were coming back today, young master. Not only has she been sleeping poorly lately, but she has also been waiting around here since early this morning. She was so exhausted that she had to go back to her room to rest not long ago," the old butler said.

"Nonsense!" Jack roared. "Don't you know what her physical condition is? She's still young and doesn't understand. Don't you guys, who are almost a thousand years old combined, understand? You'd better not let anything happen to her, or you'll suffer the consequences."

The festive atmosphere was completely ruined by Jack's words. The servants all lowered their heads, not daring to look directly into Jack's furious eyes. Even the old butler felt uneasy standing in front of Jack.

"Don't be angry, everyone has their own difficulties." Wu Yu had no choice but to bite the bullet and step in as a peacemaker.

"Hmph, Wu Yu, come with me." Jack didn't say much and simply waved his sleeve and left.

Wu Yu glanced helplessly at the old butler, then quickly followed Jack.

Jack was in such a hurry that Wu Yu didn't have a chance to properly appreciate the plants, flowerbeds, antiques, and calligraphy along the way.

When he reached the door, Jack suddenly stopped. He quickly straightened his appearance before opening the door somewhat awkwardly.

This is an unexpectedly simple room, with no extra decorations other than a dressing table, wardrobe, and a bed.

But the quiet figure sitting in the wheelchair by the window seemed to be able to make the room dazzling with her own presence.

She possessed a striking resemblance to her brother in terms of good looks. Her plain white dress barely covered her knees, revealing her smooth, curvaceous calves, which rested on a semi-transparent piece of glass of unknown origin. Her unadorned profile was breathtakingly beautiful. Her eyes were closed, but her long eyelashes seemed to possess a magical allure, compelling one to count their number.

She slept so peacefully that Wu Yu subconsciously lowered his breathing so as not to disturb the sleeping beauty in front of him.

This is Violet, the sister Jack has been longing for. Wu Yu suddenly understood why Jack, who didn't care about anything, had acted like a sister-complex before. If it were him, he probably wouldn't have been an exception.

Jack silently approached Violet from behind, gently stroking her smooth, cascading silver hair and gently smoothing it. Just from this, Wu Yu noticed a warm smile on Jack's face that he had never seen before.

Suddenly, Violet trembled slightly like a fragile little animal. She opened her bright blue eyes and timidly looked around.
