"Hi, Princess Philliss, what a coincidence, we meet again." Jack ignored the guards standing nearby and greeted the princess with a smile.
“Yes, Baron Jack, I didn’t expect to meet you so soon. Do you live nearby too?” Phillis was delighted to see Jack and couldn’t help but ask curiously.
“That’s right, Your Highness, I’m staying at the Hero’s Inn right next door.”
“That’s really close. I’m staying at the Violet Hotel nearby. It seems we’re quite destined to meet. Feel free to come visit me anytime. Unfortunately, I have to patrol the military camp today, so goodbye for now.” Phillis waved and left, surrounded by the crowd.
"Okay, goodbye." Even after he had left, Jack still said it.
Dude, this loser-style staking out method of picking up girls is useless. Even if you make your face known to the goddess every day, she will at most treat you as a friend. Can't you take the initiative? You are a tall, rich, and handsome guy, and she is obviously a naive girl. At this time, you should take the initiative.
Wu Yu watched Jack's disastrous performance with a sense of disappointment, feeling that he should teach him a few tricks, otherwise it would be another tragic love story about two people destined to be apart.
Wu Yu patted Jack on the shoulder, about to say a few words, when Jack grabbed Wu Yu's arm, turned and left, not giving Wu Yu a chance to speak at all.
The two began a aimless walking race in the deserted city. Although they walked the whole way, Wu Yu was still exhausted. When they stopped, Wu Yu felt a churning in his stomach, and the delicious breakfast he had painstakingly eaten that morning seemed to want to escape.
"Hey, Jack, what are you doing? 'A hundred steps after a meal' isn't a saying you can use." Wu Yu looked completely bewildered. He had noticed that Jack was occasionally a bit neurotic, but he hadn't expected him to be so seriously ill.
"Shh." Jack gestured for silence, then gently pushed Wu Yu to a corner.
Wu Yu then realized that he seemed to have been led into a dead end. The high wall in front of him looked to be about three meters high, which he couldn't possibly climb over. And the exit was blocked by Jack. What the hell? What on earth was Jack trying to do? Could it be...?
While Wu Yu was still scaring himself, Jack spoke up first, "We've been following you all the way here. This place is a bit remote, so whatever you want to do, let's settle it here."
No sooner had he finished speaking than a figure appeared at the entrance of the alley. Wu Yu felt a chilling aura coming towards him, and even breathing felt very oppressive. He couldn't help but move closer to Jack before he felt a little better.
Upon closer inspection, the woman was clad in fine red armor that accentuated her beautiful figure. Her long brown hair flowed in the wind, and her delicate face was fixed intently on Jack. Her hand was already on her knight's sword, and she resembled a sharp, gleaming blade. Just looking at her made Wu Yu's eyes sting slightly.
Jack wasn't surprised by the newcomer. He put his hands behind his back, looking completely unguarded, and said in his usual calm tone, "Vice Commander of the Flame Lion Knights, Your Excellency Mapel Zeklica, what brings you following me?"
"Hmph, you know perfectly well what I'm asking." Mapel said coldly, "Although you are a nobleman, don't you think your behavior is overstepping your bounds? Moreover, your behavior is too utilitarian, and I can't stand it."
"You weren't sent by Her Highness the Princess, were you? As a follower making decisions for your master without permission, who do you think is overstepping their bounds?" Jack retorted sarcastically.
“The princess is still young, but that doesn’t mean you have a chance. It’s our duty to drive away the pests around Her Highness. I’ll give you one chance, but don’t ever appear in front of the princess again.” As she spoke, Mapel had already drawn her sword a little, which was a blatant threat.
The situation was already tense, but Wu Yu noticed that Jack's smile hadn't disappeared, as if everything was under his control.
"Mapel Zeklica, a War Knight, broke through to the sixth rank two years ago and was promoted to vice commander of the Flame Lion Knights. However, as the heir to the Count, you have never actually participated in military campaigns and have almost zero practical combat experience."
Furthermore, the desolate city forbids the use of supernatural powers within its borders. As a knight, you wouldn't violate the city's laws, so it seems you're not qualified to threaten me with force.
“You are indeed very dangerous.” Maper’s eyes narrowed. She had abandoned her previous contempt. Judging from the other party’s intelligence capabilities alone, he couldn’t possibly be a baron she had never heard of. This was the first time, and they hadn’t even fought, yet she already had a feeling that she would lose.
“There’s no point in saying more. We need to have a fight before we can continue talking. Of course, that’s on the condition that I win. Otherwise, the proud Knight Maper probably won’t bother with a loser.” Jack said with a grin, while spreading his empty hands, indicating, “As a gentleman, I’ll let you make the first move.”
"Hmph, then thank you very much." Maper said through gritted teeth, drawing her sword without hesitation.
"Clang." Jack, arriving late but arriving early, blocked Maper's thrust before losing a part. The two separated briefly, but soon became entangled again.
Since neither of them used their battle aura, their fight lacked that explosive, high-budget feel. However, their physical strength far exceeded the limits of ordinary people. With the naked eye, Wu Yu couldn't keep up with their movements at all; he could only hear the continuous symphony of clanging and banging.
