Chapter 186 Animal World (6) - Warming Up in Bed
Ning Shu decided to stay here and survive the last few days. In addition to going out to stock up on food and water, she had an extra task every day: to pray.
I pray that every day from now on will be as peaceful as today.
That's right, things that science can't solve can only be solved by metaphysics.
But fate was clearly not on her side, and soon her territory was visited by an uninvited guest—a weasel.
Ning Shu knew about it because its adorable appearance didn't match its legends.
The weasel is also known as "Huang Daxian" and there are many mysterious legends about it in folklore, such as its ability to control people's minds and its ability to transform into human form.
Although these are just legends, they indirectly prove that it must have been quite cunning.
When people worship "Huang Daxian," they mainly hope that it will not harm people, because it would take away the poultry raised by the people and cause losses to them.
When Ning Shu saw the weasel, she panicked, especially when she saw the creature crawl into her den.
The weasel was also very small, and it could easily squeeze into her hole, but she didn't know whether the other party was a player or an NPC.
Even if the other party is a player, the thought that weasels also eat rabbits makes her feel that there's no need for discussion; these are just backup food supplies.
Why is her life so miserable? In this dungeon, the only thing she can heal is grass, but players won't turn into grass.
Seeing the other person sneak into her den, she was glad that the other person hadn't discovered her, otherwise they would definitely have killed her first and then taken over her den.
Before the other party could realize there might be something alive outside, she quickly and swiftly "rolled away".
Ning Shu ran for a while, then suddenly stopped, strained her ears to listen, and heard a sound coming from one direction. She couldn't go that way, so she changed course and went in the other direction.
I don't know how long I ran, but suddenly I came across an abandoned building belonging to humans.
There were still signs of human activity in this forest? She hesitated for a moment. Although the building looked old, what if there were still people living there?
Humans are now also one of her targets to guard against.
She wanted to keep walking, but the sky was now covered with dark clouds, and it looked like a downpour was about to begin.
She hesitated whether to seek shelter in an abandoned building first, since she had almost frozen to death after being soaked in water last time, and being drenched by a downpour was not a good idea.
Ning Shu listened intently again, but seemed to hear no sounds of movement inside the building.
The abandoned building was only half a story high, which was a bit strange, but for a small animal like her, half a story was still quite tall.
She slowly approached the building, intending to see if there was anywhere inside where she could take shelter from the rain.
She walked around the building and found that half of the main entrance was sunken into the ground. She tried to ram the door, but it wouldn't open; it seemed to be locked from the inside.
The only way is to go around to the place with a window, the bottom edge of which is parallel to the ground, and it has a long, sliding structure.
I don't know what's wrong with this glass. The whole building is dilapidated, but this glass is clean, looking almost like it was just wiped clean.
She looked through the glass and discovered that there was a bed next to the window, with clean pillows and blankets on it.
This... looks a bit eerie no matter how you look at it, a dilapidated building, clean bedding and windows?
Ning Shu decided to listen carefully to her surroundings. There was indeed no sound, so no one was moving around. Otherwise, someone should have come to check when she banged on the door.
The window was only slightly ajar, not enough for her to squeeze in. She planned to use her body to push the window open and then crawl inside.
With dark clouds looming over the city, she knew she would be drenched in cold water if she didn't hurry.
Ning Shu struggled for a while, and finally managed to push one of the glass panes to the other side, opening a window large enough for her to get in.
She quickly jumped in and landed on the bed, which was a dozen centimeters lower than the window.
She finally caught up and breathed a sigh of relief. Turning her head to look at the inside of the building, she realized it was a small room.
The bed wasn't very high off the ceiling; it felt like no one but a child could walk on it normally.
She jumped to the edge of the bed to look down. There was a doorway on one of the walls, but it was dark inside, and she couldn't see what was going on.
However, she did notice that the bed was quite high off the ground, about 20 or 30 centimeters higher than the highest point at the doorway.
She couldn't understand why the bed was placed so high; it was so inconvenient.
There seemed to be something under the bed. She looked down and leaned over the edge of the bed to look down.
Good heavens, even she herself couldn't believe it, let alone others. There was a kitchen right under the bed.
The sink and gas stove are directly under the bed, along with pots and pans. It's unclear whether there's a range hood, since she can't see it from her vantage point.
Who came up with this design? Won't all the cooking fumes from downstairs end up on the bed?
She didn't understand, but she respected the decision. She just sought shelter from the rain, and prepared to leave once the rain stopped.
Suddenly, her ears twitched, and she turned to look out the window. Oh, it was raining.
Luckily she came in in time, otherwise she would be soaked to the bone by now.
The rain outside was really heavy. She missed the cave where she had stayed for a few days. She had worked hard to bring back all that hay, and now it had all gone to that weasel.
It was windy outside, and a little rain was drifting in, but she didn't dare close the window, worried that something might happen inside and she wouldn't be able to escape.
She could only hide in a place far from the window crack, and since the quilt was also white, she simply hid under the quilt to keep warm.
Snuggled in the blankets, Ning Shu felt so comfortable, just like before she entered the game, sleeping in bed on rainy days.
She fell asleep comfortably, but a sudden clap of thunder startled her awake. She quickly looked around, but the room remained as quiet as ever.
She didn't find anything significant, so she's safe for now.
Ning Shu wondered if she was projecting the rabbit's mindset. She used to be unafraid of thunder; if she was startled awake, she would simply fall back asleep.
Why is my heart pounding so hard after being startled awake? I feel so panicked.
She glanced at the sky outside. After the torrential rain had been pouring down for so long, the dark clouds had dispersed quite a bit, but it was still drizzling and thundering.
She couldn't sleep and was a little thirsty, so she went to the window and saw rainwater flowing down the open windowpane.
Ning Shu stood up and stuck out her little tongue to lick the rainwater by the window. It has to be said that this really quenched her thirst.
She took a few sips and then stopped. What day was it? She checked the time on the game panel. Oh, it was the afternoon of the 5th day.
Luckily, she ate something before she came out, otherwise she would be hungry now. Even if she waited for the rain to stop and went out to find something to eat, she would still get soaked.
Ning Shu was a little reluctant to leave her current bed; she was very satisfied.
