Chapter 82 Desert Search (5) - Finding New Supplies

Chapter 82 Desert Search (5) - Finding New Supplies

Looking at the results, he exclaimed, "She truly lives up to my sister Ning's reputation!"

Then he thought how much better it would have been if it had been a hole like this before, then he wouldn't have had to... Waaah, thinking about what had just happened made him want to cry again.

Seeing his condition, Ning Shu knew something was wrong. She quickly comforted him and then stuffed him into the small sand cave before crawling in herself.

She had been working for so long, and was covered in sweat and sand. She was also thirsty, so she quickly drank a couple of sips of water to calm herself down.

I must say, this little sand cave is indeed much cooler. After being blocked from direct sunlight, I feel like I've come back to life.

Wu Yi's initial sadness had faded considerably.

He was a little thirsty, so he drank a few sips of water. He wanted to drink a few more sips, but Ning Shu stopped him.

"Save your breath, we don't know how long it will take. 30 days, and this is only the second day."

Okay, Wu Yi obediently put the water back in his bag.

To avoid anyone appearing without their knowledge, Ning Shu suggested that the two take turns resting while the other person keeps watch, and Wu Yi agreed.

The two rested until sunset. At that time, Ning Shu was on guard duty, and she went out to stand on the high ground to observe.

I saw that glittering golden light again; although faint, it was still quite noticeable in the night sky.

She quickly woke Wu Yi up: "Wake up, hurry up, we need to get going."

Wu Yi could only get up and, still half asleep, follow Ning Shu on their way.

To save energy, the two of them used only one flashlight when traveling at night, keeping the other as a spare.

Ning Shu wanted to catch up with the one million man as soon as possible, but she wasn't sure if following him would guarantee her success.

However, she felt that if even a million-point expert like her couldn't pass, then it would be even more difficult for a newbie like her.

"Looking at the mountain makes one run itself to death." The golden light seemed to be not far from their location, but as dawn approached, they still hadn't caught up.

The desert climate is a bit extreme; it's unbearably hot during the day but a bit cool at night. Fortunately, it's not too cold, making it perfect for traveling. However, the sand creates a lot of resistance, making the roads difficult to navigate.

When dawn broke again and the golden light disappeared, Ning Shu decided not to continue her journey. She needed to rest, so she found another place to dig a hole.

After digging, the two didn't mention taking turns keeping watch and went straight to sleep.

When Ning Shu woke up, the sun was already high in the sky. She went out to check the situation outside and thankfully, no one came over.

Seeing that Wu Yi was sleeping like a log, she didn't disturb him and ate some fruit and drank some water first.

She was amazed to find that the fruit hadn't spoiled. She checked the supplies and found that there was still plenty of fruit, but not much water left, which was a real worry.

So the two followed the golden light for four days, and on the fifth day, they ran out of water.

Wu Yi looked worried: "Sister Ning, are we not going to die here?"

It's been six days now, and they're still running around aimlessly, with no idea when it will end.

Ning Shu was also suspicious; at this moment, the two of them were already sitting in the newly dug pit.

Ning Shu was sitting facing Wu Yi. He looked at the sand wall behind Wu Yi and suddenly felt that the white paste in the upper left corner seemed to have gathered a bit and had a "solid" outline.

This seems like a good thing? It suggests they're heading in the right direction.

Ning Shu was afraid it was just her imagination, so she asked Wu Yi to take a look at his side as well.

"Sister Ning, the paste on my side seems different from the past few days; it's gathered together a bit. So, we're on the right track, right?"

Wu Yi's earlier dejected expression vanished, and he was as happy as a child.

Ning Shu thought Wu Yi was a very easy child to please. How wonderful. Another day of envying others.

She took the opportunity to encourage Wu Yi: "Since we're on the right track, we must persevere. We'll see the light at the end of the tunnel soon!"

Wu Yi took the bait and nodded vigorously: "Okay, I'll listen to you, sister."

They walked for another day, and then the water ran out. Wu Yi was extremely thirsty: "Sister Ning, I'm so thirsty."

Ning Shu gave him an idea: "Eat some dates, they're very juicy."

Wu Yi made two, but it still wasn't enough. He kept searching his body for a better substitute, and he actually found one.

It was that test tube containing the ink.

Wu Yi thought, "The test tube contains ink, and ink is water, right? So I can drink it too." Without saying a word, he pulled out the stopper and poured it into his mouth.

Ning Shu was stunned by this action, but then she thought about it and realized it was normal. When people are driven to the brink, they might drink excrement. Ink is much better than that.

"Ha~" Wu Yi sighed, feeling extremely satisfied. Eating alone is not a good habit; you must share with your teammates. He handed the test tube in his hand to Ning Shu.

Ning Shu took it, a little hesitant. She was really afraid of the smell of this ink; just thinking about it made her feel physically uncomfortable. But she still forced herself to drink two sips.

Well, it's quite thirst-quenching, since there really is water inside.

The 1200 ml of liquid in the test tube sustained the two of them for another two days.

They spent nearly 10 days wandering aimlessly in the desert, still unable to reach their destination, even though they didn't know where it was.

As dawn approached, the golden light vanished.

Ning Shu found it strange. Could someone with a million points also get lost? Even a top-tier player like him couldn't find his way around?

Wu Yi lay on the ground, panting:

"Sister Ning, I'm dying of thirst! I've run out of ink and almost no fruit left. Could you do what you did before and see if there's an oasis nearby?"

Ning Shu had actually been paying attention to it recently, but her glasses didn't give her any indication, which made her quite sad.

She gently patted her glasses: "Lord Ping, could you tell me where there's an oasis? We want water, water, water!"

Ning Shusheng was afraid that Glasses wouldn't understand, so he repeated the last word twice.

The nickname "Lord Ping" was a spur-of-the-moment choice she made for the glasses. After all, their original name was "Plain Glasses," so taking the first two characters to name them seemed reasonable.

After all, it's impolite not to greet people, isn't it?

Whether it was her new name that worked or the glasses had a change of heart, they actually displayed two words: "supplies," with a lead and an arrow next to it, the arrow pointing to a patch of sand.

Supplies?

This word was so new to Ning Shu that he immediately called Wu Yi. They went to the spot indicated by the arrow and started digging in the sand again.

When they dug down deep enough, they found a package inside. When they opened it, they found not only bottled water, but also small bread rolls and compressed biscuits.

Heaven is helping them!

"I love you to death, Lord Ping!" Ning Shu took off her glasses and showered the frame with kisses.

Wu Yi already knew that the glasses were Ning Shu's prop, but seeing Ning Shu like this still gave him goosebumps.

Sister Ning is being quite cheesy.

The two took stock of their newly acquired supplies: six bottles of water, six loaves of bread, and ten compressed biscuits—not bad at all.

Ning Shu didn't let Wu Yi show off his water, only allowing him to take a few sips.

At this moment, water was truly more precious than gold, a fact that Ning Shu deeply understood.
