Chapter 83 Desert Search (6) - The Strange Oasis

Chapter 83 Desert Search (6) - The Strange Oasis

The two walked for another three days with these supplies. Whether it was because the weather was getting hotter or because the game was getting more difficult, they drank water very quickly.

Ning Shu couldn't resist drinking it even if she wanted to, but luckily she still had some dry rations left.

They noticed that the white, blurry boundary in the upper left corner of their view was becoming clearer, but only a rough shape was emerging; they couldn't tell what it was.

Ning Shu knew that the direction was indeed correct. She guessed that Yi Bai was probably also looking for the right direction, which was why it had taken so long.

That day, Ning Shu suddenly discovered that her glasses were indicating that there was an oasis nearby.

Overjoyed, she told Wu Yi, and the two of them hurried off to find an oasis before the sun was high in the sky.

As soon as they reached the edge of the oasis, they discovered several groups of players lingering there, not yet below the oasis.

Their appearance also attracted the attention of the other players, who all looked over as if observing them.

Ning Shu and Wu Yi ignored them and cautiously tried to walk down into the oasis, but they were suddenly stunned.

This oasis... it looks so much like the ones they've encountered before.

Wu Yi clearly realized it too: "Sister Ning, do all the oases in this instance look the same, or have we returned to where we started?"

Ning Shu remained silent. She touched her glasses and looked towards the spot where she had buried the fruit.

The glasses did indeed provide a clue, pointing out that there were fruits under the sand in the direction she was looking.

“It’s the original oasis,” Ning Shu replied to Wu Yi.

"Huh? So all our work these past few days has been for nothing? I should have just stayed put," Wu Yi muttered.

"No, the oasis is the same as before, but we haven't returned to where we started."

Because at this moment, the glasses provided other clues in the direction she was looking, but there were no written explanations, only a big question mark.

The question mark was bolded and marked in red, indicating that there must be something nearby.

This didn't happen in the previous oasis, indicating that they shouldn't be in the same place.

Although she didn't have a map, she felt that she hadn't gone back the way she came after these past few days of trekking.

She guessed that the oasis might be alive, that it could move.

Seeing that they wanted to go down, one of the players actually spoke up.

"The area below is occupied by other players, so I don't recommend you go down there. Some players have already died at their hands."

The one who spoke was a female player, who looked much older than them and had a tired face. She had two other players with her, presumably her teammates.

Ning Shu was afraid of being betrayed by players, but if the other party had no malicious intent, there was really no need to be so nervous.

Hearing what the other person said, she was incredulous: "Occupy? They've occupied the entire oasis?"

The female player nodded: "Yes, they said the fruit and water belong to them, and you have to spend points to buy them if you want them."

Ning Shu's eyes widened: "You bought it?"

Female player: "We don't have any. They want too much, and we can't afford it. We can only stay here. Some people have already bought them."

Ning Shu looked through her glasses and saw that the female player and her companion's scores were both in single digits, so she probably wasn't lying.

Ning Shu suddenly remembered something: "Have you all been staying in this oasis all along?"

The female player shook her head: "We just arrived yesterday. There's a male player there who seems to know about this oasis. You can go ask him."

After the female player finished speaking, she pointed to the male player she had mentioned.

Ning Shu looked over and found that it was a very young player, probably around 20 years old, with a face full of collagen and youthful energy.

The opponent has a three-digit number above their head; they're actually a skilled player. Truly, heroes emerge from among the young.

Ning Shu decided to ask, and the other players were naturally curious about Ning Shu and Wu Yi, so they had been keeping an eye on their movements.

Ning Shu ignored their gazes; as long as they didn't cause trouble, everything was fine.

She walked up to the young player the female player had mentioned and humbly asked:

"Hello, I'm a player who just arrived here. I heard you know about this oasis. Could you give me a brief overview?"

The young man nodded, looking very willing to share: "Sure, what do you want to know?"

Ning Shu was very direct: "Has this oasis always been here?"

The young man raised an eyebrow. The word "always" seemed a bit unusual. He knew that the player in front of him must know something about the Oasis.

Now that the other party knew, he didn't hide it: "It wasn't always there. It moves, and I was following it the whole time to get here."

Ning Shu's completely unsurprised expression further confirmed the other party's guess.

"How did it move, and how did you keep up?"

The first half of the sentence is fine, but the second half seems to be asking about someone's abilities; the other party is openly testing him.

The young man didn't shy away from the question:

"It disappears just before dawn and reappears randomly in other places, seemingly without any pattern."

I used a tool to locate it before I could follow it. What, you've encountered this oasis before?"

Ning Shu directly admitted that she had no intention of hiding anything, since her question had already revealed too much. However, there was one thing she was still very curious about.

"You were able to keep up because you used props, but what about them?" Ning Shu said, turning to look at the people sitting scattered around the lake.

The young man shook his head: "I don't know, probably a talent skill or a prop."

What a coincidence? Are these kinds of talents, skills, and items commonplace? Ning Shu frowned.

"How many of them are there?"

Ning Shu looked at the number of players remaining on top, estimating it to be nearly 20 people. There weren't many people watching below. If they still couldn't defeat them, it meant that the opponent's strength might be very strong.

"It looked like there were 7 or 8 of them, but I couldn't see them clearly. When I tracked them here, they were already in the oasis."

"I guess they discovered the oasis before me and claimed it for themselves." The other person was very responsive to all questions.

"Does the other party have any ability to find out?"

"I only know of one burly player who can kill people with his bare hands; his abilities might be enhanced or something. I don't know about the others."

"When did this oasis move here? And when did these players arrive?"

“The Oasis arrived here 3 days ago, and these players have been appearing here over the past 3 days.”

So, the first to appear here were the bully gang below, then this young man in front of us, and then the remaining players.

The guy said the oasis would disappear at dawn and move around freely. She was chasing a million dollars and didn't have time to wait until dawn to witness the oasis disappear, so she couldn't tell if what he said was true or false.

But seeing where she buried the fruit, I felt that what she said about the oasis moving must be true.

But if the oasis moves when it gets light, why hasn't it moved in these 3 days?

"So, the oasis doesn't move every day?"
