"Oh, so you're singers?"
Jin He smiled: "You can understand it that way."
“Honey, do you know what? You’re the most beautiful East Asian I’ve ever seen.” The woman shook her head and exclaimed, “Honestly, I’ve worked with so many models, but I’ve never seen anyone as good-looking as you.”
"I am so honored to receive such praise from you. I had the privilege of seeing your show once, which was themed around 'fallen leaves' and was very story-driven," Jin He said with a smile.
"Oh! You understand me!" the woman said excitedly. "Which design do you prefer?"
"The outfit that Maionridge is wearing is quite nice, an orange-brown long dress, and the brooch is the perfect finishing touch."
“Your fashion philosophy aligns perfectly with mine.” The woman handed Jin He a business card. “I’d like to get your contact information so we can collaborate in the future.”
“Of course, beautiful lady.” Jin He handed over her business card. “Would we have the honor of taking a photo with you?”
Before An Yi could react, Jin He pulled him to take a photo with the fashion director. Jin He then put her phone away, saying, "Looking forward to seeing you again, ma'am."
"Me too, handsome young man."
"Why do we need to take a photo together?" An Yi asked belatedly after everyone had walked quite a distance away. "Didn't we already exchange contact information?"
Jin He: "..."
"So many people tried to get close to her tonight, how could she remember who we were? Just one photo. If they actually have designs that fit their vision, they'll come looking for you themselves." Jin He leaned closer and said to him, "In this world of fame and fortune, everyone cares about the exchange of benefits. You have to let them know that you can bring them benefits, understand?"
Whether An Yi understood or not, Jin He's eyes darted around, and seeing a middle-aged man in a suit and tie walk in through the door, she quickly greeted him with a smile: "Hey! Philip! Long time no see!"
As she spoke, she walked up to the man and gave him a cheek kiss.
"It's been a long time. You haven't forgotten me, have you?"
"Of course not, Jin, your appearance is truly unforgettable."
"Our collaboration last time was really great. According to Chinese culture, I should toast you with a glass of wine, how about champagne?"
The two clinked glasses and drank the wine in their glasses in one gulp.
"Oh, Jin, will you choose to work with me again next time? I remember someone telling me that many brands have extended olive branches to you, which makes me very nervous."
"To be honest, I've carefully reviewed your design concept for next season, and I feel that my personal abilities are insufficient to achieve the results you expect," Jin He said regretfully. "But I have someone I'd like to recommend. Would you like to hear about it?"
"It's so great that you're willing to recommend something to me."
“He’s my teammate. Let me show you a picture.” Jin He picked up her phone to show him a photo. “Look, his name is Jiang Xiubai. Doesn’t he have a gentle appearance? Doesn’t he fit your concept for the next season?”
"Oh! He's quite good too."
“Yes, if you are interested, you can contact my agent.” Jin He picked up another glass of wine and gestured, “I’ll toast you on his behalf.”
Throughout the dinner, Jin He introduced An Yi to many big names in the fashion industry. Sometimes Jin He's tactics were roundabout and convoluted, while at other times they were very straightforward, but they were always right.
In the end, An Yi offered to drink two glasses of wine for Jin He, because Jin He had drunk too much.
“Only big bosses need someone to drink for them. I’m just an unknown idol. At this time, I need to show some sincerity. How can I get a project if I can’t even finish a drink?” Jin He whispered to him, “At least I’ll lose face.”
An Yi whispered to him, "But you drank too much! Your stomach is so thin!"
An Yi whispered in his ear, his voice hitting Jin He's earlobe so hard that Jin He's ears turned red. This was the first time someone had thought he had drunk too much in this kind of situation.
"My goodness, such a small stomach, yet you can drink so much! Don't you know you can't even speak properly now? Are you going to get drunk and cause trouble for me tonight?!"
Jin He: "..."
"Shut up, please."
However, Jin He was indeed not feeling well at the moment. After looking around and seeing that there was nothing wrong for the time being, she put the wine glass in her hand into An Yi's hand and said, "You stay here and play. I'm going to the restroom."
"Where are you going?"
"Don't worry about it, I'll be right back. You can talk to someone, but don't swear."
An Yi: "..."
Am I really that rude?!
But this was the first time An Yi had stood alone on the field, and he didn't know what to do for a moment. He was really at a loss after Jin He left. He awkwardly picked up his wine glass, took a sip, and only after drinking it did he realize that this was Jin He's wine.
He looked down, then shook his head. Oh well, Jin He wasn't dirty anyway, so he might as well have drunk it.
Why does this wine taste so strange?
An Yi looked down and glanced at it again, savoring it carefully. He felt there was nothing strange about it, and thought it was just the right taste. So he drank it all in one gulp.
Jin He returned quickly, her face still a little damp. Luckily, the makeup artist had done a good job setting her makeup. Jin He wiped her flushed face with a handkerchief, and seeing An Yi's empty wine glass, she said, "My wine, I hadn't even had a couple of sips and you drank it all..."
“It’s not like we’re out. I’ll get you another one.” An Yi took another glass of wine from the waiter’s tray and placed it in Jin He’s hand. “Drink up.”
Jin He picked up her wine glass and took a sip, then suddenly felt something was off and gave the glass a strange look.
"What's wrong?"
"It's nothing." Jin He shook her head, dispelling her doubts. "The party will end in an hour. Brother Wang's flight is for 10:30 tomorrow morning, so I can get a good night's sleep tonight."
"Um."
Half an hour later, Jin He was chatting happily with someone when he felt his sleeve being tugged. He turned around and saw An Yi, his face flushed, loosening his collar: "Why do I feel like this venue is a bit hot?"
Jin He also felt a bit hot, but he thought An Yi was exaggerating. He reached out to touch An Yi's face, but was burned: "Ouch! Do you have a fever?"
"Huh?" An Yi touched his face. "No way, I'm not sick."
“You might be experiencing some acclimatization issues,” Jin He said, glancing at her watch. “The banquet will end in half an hour. Why don’t you go back and rest? I’ll buy you some medicine on my way back.”
"I don't think so..."
"Hey, don't be stubborn, it's burning hot to the touch." Jin He pushed him out, "Go back and rest, it's only half an hour anyway, you can't be of much help here."
An Yi: "..."
It makes sense, but I don't like to hear it.
"I'll be going now." An Yi held up his phone. "Call me if you need anything."
"knew."
Jin He watched An Yi walk out the door. Half an hour later, the banquet ended, and Jin He finally finished her social engagements for the evening. She was so drunk that her vision was blurry and she could barely walk. She had to go to the toilet to vomit again. When she came out, she saw someone standing at the door.
"Hello?" Jin He barely recognized the person he had just been chatting with. "Are you waiting for someone here?"
“Yes, I was waiting for you here.” The man stepped forward. “May I have the honor of escorting you back to your hotel?”
Jin He's mind went blank for a second, but fortunately, this wasn't the first time he'd encountered something like this. So he said, "I'm sorry, sir, my agent is waiting for me at the hotel. He'll be worried if he doesn't see me get back."
"That's a real shame." The man looked him up and down, shrugged, and sighed. "We can go out for a drink sometime. I know a really good bar."
"Of course," Jin He smiled. Anyway, I'm going back to China tomorrow.
He used navigation to find the nearest 24-hour pharmacy. As he walked, he was a little surprised. He couldn't believe that An Yi, who was such a big guy and seemed like he could knock him down with one punch, was so fragile. He was defeated by just a little bit of acclimatization.
This is hopeless.
He walked to An Yi's room and knocked on the door: "An Yi, open the door, I've brought you your medicine."
