Chapter 55 Jin Miao

This cold was more serious than Jin He had imagined. Just after noon, his temperature began to rise slowly again. An Yi had been observing his condition and felt something was wrong when he saw his cheeks start to turn red.

"The fever has started again," An Yi said worriedly. "Is there anything wrong? What about your heart?"

Jin He was gagging while swallowing porridge, and shook his head upon hearing this.

However, Jin He had been hospitalized two days prior due to a heart attack triggered by a high fever, so An Yi dared not take it lightly. He immediately rang the bell and called the doctor over. The doctor listened to Jin He's chest for a long time with a stethoscope and concluded: "Try to lower the fever with physical methods."

"Also, if you really can't eat anything, don't force yourself to eat." The doctor made two notes in the medical record. "The nurse will bring you a bottle of medical alcohol in a little while. You can use it to wipe your palms and neck, but be careful not to catch a cold."

We need to use physical methods to cool down, but we also need to avoid getting chilled.

Just like how Jin He sometimes can't take cold and fever reducers when he takes heart medication, it's a very contradictory proposition.

After the doctor left, An Yi turned the air conditioner up to a higher temperature, took the bowl from Jin He's hands, poured some alcohol into the bowl, and wet a towel.

Jin He sat on the hospital bed with her legs drawn up, looking at him. Seeing that An Yi had already made preparations and looked in his direction, Jin He obediently stretched out her hand, looking at him with such innocent eyes.

An Yi: "..."

He diligently wiped Jin He's palms with alcohol wipes. After wiping both hands, he unbuttoned two buttons on Jin He's pajamas. The light blue cotton pajamas were soft and comfortable. He reached out and pulled down the collar of the pajamas, revealing her flushed skin and delicate collarbone.

"If you feel unwell, remember to tell me."

Jin He shook her head, but flinched the moment the wet wipe touched her skin: "Ouch, so cold."

An Yi stopped what he was doing and, without paying attention to Jin He's needs, finished wiping Jin He's neck and collarbone before helping him put on his clothes.

"Why haven't I seen Xiaomiao yet?" Jin He suddenly remembered her younger sister, whom she hadn't seen in a long time, and asked, "Does she know about this now?"

With such a huge uproar online, Jin Miao couldn't possibly be unaware. To be precise, Jin Miao had been watching his live stream the whole time, so the moment Jin He felt unwell, Jin Miao realized it and arrived even before the ambulance.

What happened next was quite simple. Jin Miao was terrified, but An Yi urged her to go back to class.

“Your brother is out of danger now, you should go back to school.” An Yi said to Jin Miao, who was still by the bedside with dark circles under her eyes, “You know how much your brother wants you to go to school, so he won’t worry about you.”

Jin Miao reluctantly left the ward and asked An Yi to tell her when his brother woke up.

“She knows. I told her to go back to class first; she’s busy with her graduate studies,” An Yi said. “We agreed that I would let her know when you woke up.”

Upon hearing this, Jin He felt relieved and quickly said, "It's fine to tell her tonight, just don't disturb her class."

An Yi had already made preparations. He asked his assistant and driver to pick up Jin Miao from school that night. He was afraid that Jin Miao might rush over recklessly and something might happen to her on the way. Jin He only had this one younger sister. If something happened to her, Jin He probably wouldn't want to live anymore.

However, An Yi felt there was something he needed to remind Jin He of. Because when he asked his assistant to pick up Jin Miao from school yesterday, the assistant returned and told him:

Jin Miao was eating in the cafeteria with a boy at the time, and Jin Miao seemed to be in a bad mood. The boy even wiped away Jin Miao's tears.

He looked at Jin He, who was half-lying on the bed with her eyes closed, and decided to keep the news from her until her condition stabilized. Although he trusted Jin Miao's judgment in choosing a partner, in the eyes of someone as doting on her sister as Jin He, everyone else probably looked like a nobody.

As it grew later, Jin He estimated that Jin Miao would arrive soon. Sure enough, when the clock struck seven, Jin Miao entered the ward carrying a thermos. She saw Jin He sitting on the bed, smiling at her. Her eyes reddened, her nose tingled, and she looked like she was about to cry.

"Oh dear, why is our little Miao about to cry again?" Jin He beckoned to her, "Come here, let your brother take a look."

Jin Miao forced back her tears and stepped forward, reaching out to grasp her brother's thin, bony hand. He must have been well taken care of; his hands were well-proportioned, with delicate skin, clearly indicating he hadn't done much rough work.

Jin Miao's appearance wasn't that of a delicate, pale flower. On the contrary, she was tall and slender, with full breasts, radiating a beauty full of vitality. It was clear that her period was very regular.

"What's wrong?" Jin He asked her.

"I thought I would never see you again." Jin Miao's tears started falling as she thought about it. "Even though I studied medicine, I don't want to perform CPR on my family."

“When you were unconscious at the base, I did the CPR on you before the ambulance arrived. Do you know how scared I was as I pressed on your chest?” Jin Miao sniffed, her voice muffled. “If I had known being a celebrity was this tiring, I should have debuted back then. You should have stayed home and gone to school.”

Jin He didn't say anything, but took out a pack of tissues from the drawer to wipe Xiao Miao's tears. However, he paused for a moment when he saw the headband on Xiao Miao's head, and then stuffed the tissues into Xiao Miao's hand. "Wipe your tears, don't be sad, Xiao Miao."

Jin Miao was so immersed in the grief of almost losing her brother that she couldn't pull herself out of it, and she took a tissue to wipe her snot.

"This was just an accident. Her body temperature spiked too high and too fast, and her heart couldn't handle it," Jin He explained. "It won't happen again. Don't be sad, Xiao Miao."

Jin Miao wiped away her tears and brought over her thermos: "I've been making soup for you every day these past few days, just in case you wake up and have nothing to eat. Today's soup is corn and pork bone soup. I know you might not be hungry right now, but could you eat something?"

An Yi had already served the soup over there. It was a small bowl, about the size of a palm, with crystal clear broth, a piece of sweet corn, and a piece of tenderly stewed pork rib. This was Jin He's portion for one meal; she couldn't eat any more.

Jin He looked at the soup bowl, swallowed the sour water in her mouth, and finally took the bowl without saying anything, and ate a kernel of corn.

An Yi didn't say a word the whole time. He just put a plastic bag over the trash can and placed it at his feet. Then he moved a stool and sat down next to Jin He, watching him silently. Just as he was engrossed in observing him, a soup bowl was suddenly presented to him.

An Yi looked in the direction of the arm and saw that Jin Miao was holding a bowl of soup filled with pork ribs and corn. Jin Miao said, "Brother An Yi, you've worked hard these past two days. Please have some too."
