Zhou Tao nodded hurriedly, "Sister-in-law, a few days ago someone claiming to be from the Zhang family delivered two truckloads of fabric. We've already counted all the goods and put them in the warehouse, and we've also recorded them in the books."
"Yes, I know that. Your older brother and I placed the order. I'll take another look tomorrow." Li Mai nodded, somewhat puzzled as to why they were so excited.
“We see more than a dozen fabrics that are thicker, and we haven’t sold them before. Sister-in-law, are you going to make a new design for them?” The key is that those fabrics are brocade fabrics with gold and silver threads of varying sizes and various silk threads woven into large and small floral patterns. They look very beautiful and luxurious.
What excited them was that Li Mai had previously taught them to learn how to design new styles and draw in their spare time. She also said that when their store launched new styles for the New Year, they would select the three best designs from their sketches to create new designs.
This time, when they saw the new fabric, during the time that Li Mai and Zhou Quan were not back, the group spent their time, besides doing their work, racking their brains to figure out what would make the wearer look better and gain Li Mai's approval to be selected as one of the top three.
These past few days, they've been burying themselves in drawing after returning home in the evenings. Each of them has designed at least five or six different designs, just waiting for Li Mai to come back and choose.
After understanding why they were so happy, Li Mai chuckled, "Don't worry, I keep my word. However, it's not time to collect the drawings yet. I'll give you five more days to draw more. Once I select the top three, whoever's design is chosen and makes a new outfit will receive an additional reward."
"If sales are good, and the best-selling item is chosen by the end of the year, I'll give you a bonus. But remember, no matter who gets selected in the end, you must sell fairly. You can't try to promote your own designs just to get the bonus, otherwise the bonus for that sales volume will be canceled, understand?"
Li Mai was afraid that they would be led astray by his incentive mechanisms, and felt that it was necessary to guide their thinking correctly.
"Don't worry, boss, we won't. We always recommend products based on the customer's preferences and needs, and we would never intentionally interfere with the customer's decision based on our own preferences." The embroiderers quickly waved their hands with smiles and turned to go upstairs to continue their work.
The waiters quickly stated that they would not do that.
Li Mai nodded, glanced at Zhou Tao, and thought, "It seems the little girl has gained a little weight in the past few days?"
"How have you and your second brother Xiaolei been these past few days?" Li Mai asked.
"Yes, sister-in-law, don't worry, everything's fine. Second brother is still tidying up his shop, and brother-in-law helps him out when he's not busy," Zhou Tao quickly said.
"The shop has been doing well all along, hasn't it? No one's been causing trouble, has anyone?" Li Mai asked.
"There weren't any really bad ones. There was just one drunkard who came once wanting to buy clothes but wouldn't pay. Brother Lu took him out and gave him a good beating, and he never dared to come back." Zhou Tao covered her mouth and chuckled as she recounted this incident.
Li Mai raised an eyebrow and glanced at Zhou Quan.
Zhou Quan asked casually, "Has Lu Qian been coming over to check on our shop frequently these past few days?"
Zhou Tao nodded, "Yes, they come every day, and they bring us lunch on time every day."
Li Mai and Zhou Quan exchanged another glance. "He delivers lunch to me every day?"
"You arrange lunch for us every day? Did you pay us?" Li Mai asked in surprise.
"Huh? I gave it to him, but Brother Lu said it was arranged before you left and it was free!" Zhou Tao asked, somewhat bewildered.
"Sister-in-law, wasn't this arranged before you left?" Zhou Tao asked hesitantly, looking at her elder brother and sister-in-law's expressions.
Li Mai nodded, "It's all arranged, no problem. Sister-in-law can settle the bill for him in the end. You guys go ahead and do your work. Sister-in-law is going to meet a guest next door."
Zhou Tao nodded in agreement and then went to discuss the designs with the waiters.
"Li Dong, go back to Lijia Village and see your family. I won't be going out these next few days, so you don't need to stay here."
Li Mai went outside and saw Li Dong sitting outside the shop, talking to the manager of the Lu Family Restaurant next door. She went over and gave him some instructions.
Li Dong asked in surprise, "Didn't you say you were going back to the village tomorrow? You don't need me to drive the cart?"
"No need. Your brother-in-law is here. It's harvest season now. Go back home and help with the harvest. Come back after the Mid-Autumn Festival. Here's three months' wages. Take it and buy some food for your parents and siblings!"
After Li Mai finished speaking, she handed him a money bag.
She prepared this in her spatial dimension on her way back. It's late July now, less than a month until the Mid-Autumn Festival, so it's a good opportunity for him to go back and help with the autumn harvest.
"Okay, thank you, sister and brother-in-law!" Li Dong was happy, grinning as he took the money and put it in his pocket. "Then I'll come back after the Mid-Autumn Festival?"

"Hehe, got it, boss!" Li Dong called out to his boss and then ran away.
Nowadays, Li Mai pays him five taels of silver a month, which is a high wage, but considering that this kid is now the pillar of their family, they'll give him a higher one!
Zhou Quan watched Li Dong run away and then looked away. "Teach this kid to ride a horse when you have time. Next time he goes back, he can ride a horse directly. Walking back would take at least an hour."
"You can make the arrangements after he gets back!" Li Mai had no objections. After saying that, the couple went to the teahouse next door.
