Chapter 45 Sorry, I stole half of your pillow

Hearing Li Mai's childlike voice, Zhou Quan immediately woke up as if he were about to get up in the morning. He obediently hummed in agreement, turned over, and slowly sat up. He moved closer to her from behind, took the cloth she handed him, and gently began to wipe her hair.

Li Mai sat quietly with her head down. At first, she could sit upright, but gradually, she became sleepy and her body began to sway.

When Zhou Quan felt her body swaying from side to side, he guessed that she was still sleepy from the bath. He smiled helplessly and simply turned to his side, letting Li Mai lean against his chest. He supported her with one hand and used the other to dry her hair with a towel.

Feeling that she had a place to lean on, Li Mai simply relaxed and leaned against it, then drifted off to sleep.

Once Zhou Quan felt her breathing had calmed down, he quietly slowed his movements, and she really did fall asleep leaning on his shoulder.

Smelling the scent of soap pods emanating from her hair, Zhou Quan's lips curved into a smile. Since their wedding night, when she secretly climbed onto the kang (heated brick bed) with her back to him and they had been in close contact, they hadn't been this close to each other in the past few days.

He was also a grown man, her husband with whom she had a marriage certificate. Holding his soft, warm wife in his arms, he also longed for more and wanted more.

But he tried his best to control himself. The reaction in his body told him that although his legs were useless, he could still be a real man and give his wife the same sex life he had with his wife.

But through spending these few days together, he realized that his wife was a very opinionated woman, and even if he wanted to, he couldn't do anything disrespectful to her without her consent.

Moreover, he knew that Li Mai's feelings for him were simply the care and compassion she showed to the weak and sick. She hadn't developed romantic feelings for him yet. In fact, the fact that she called him "brother" today might mean she had developed some brotherly feelings for him.

Zhou Quan sighed softly and continued to gently wipe her hair. Remembering the scar on the back of her head, he slowly parted her hair and saw that the scar had fallen off and healed much more evenly, which put his mind at ease.

After drying his hair, he looked up at the distance to the back of the kang (a heated brick bed), then at Li Mai in his arms, pursed his lips, and realized he couldn't reach her.

Looking down at his pillow, then at his mattress and blanket, a bold idea suddenly popped into his head, an idea that excited him and made his hands tremble.

After hesitating for a moment, Zhou Quan sensed that his wife seemed uncomfortable sitting against him and was shifting to find a more comfortable position. He gritted his teeth, slowly let go, and placed her on his mattress, giving her half a pillow to rest her head on.

He helped her adjust her body to make her more comfortable, then covered half of her with his blanket, and slowly lay down next to her, using the other half of the pillow, the other half of the mattress, and the other half of the blanket.

Feeling that the room was somewhat bright, he slowly got up, took a book from the windowsill, and fanned the lamp vigorously. After fanning it four times, the lamp went out.

The room darkened, and in the darkness, he slowly lay down to sleep again, but he always felt very uncomfortable. In the past, he always slept alone under a quilt and with a pillow, which was very comfortable.

But now there's a soft little girl suddenly in the blankets. He doesn't dare to get too close, afraid that he'll roll over on her when he falls asleep. He's also worried that she might not be used to sleeping in the same blankets as someone and might not be comfortable. That would be bad.

He was physically uncomfortable in various ways, but secretly he was very happy.

So he lay on his side, facing Li Mai, watching her in the darkness and listening to her steady breathing. His unease slowly disappeared.

He even secretly wondered if Li Mai would slap him when she woke up in the morning and found herself sleeping in his bed.

Fine, even if he gets beaten, he'll have to take it.

Unable to contain his affection, he slowly leaned in and gently kissed her earlobe.

Li Mai had dreams that night about how it was too hot, and no matter where she ran to find shade, it would quickly become hot again.

She didn't breathe a sigh of relief until she woke up and opened her eyes. It was dawn. It was just a dream!

However, it was hot in the middle of summer, and she was still covered with a cotton quilt. She wondered if she should make a thinner quilt.

Huh? She felt a steady breathing sound beside her ear, and when she turned her head, she was met with a handsome face.

Zhou Quan? What's he doing in his own bed?

He was still asleep, his eyes closed.

She glanced around the room and realized that it wasn't him sleeping in her blanket, but rather she sleeping in his.

As her memories gradually returned, she remembered last night and helplessly covered her forehead—she had climbed into his bed!

Quietly, Li Mai tried to lift the blanket and go back to her own side, but as soon as she moved, a large hand reached out from behind and pulled the blanket over her.

Li Mai:......

Thinking he was awake, she turned around and found that he was still asleep with his eyes closed, but his hand was still instinctively reaching to cover her with a blanket.

Li Mai felt that she might have solved the case, which was why she felt that she had finally found a shady spot to cool off in her dream, but it quickly became hot again.

Looking out the window, she saw that the sun had already risen. She reached out and nudged him, whispering, "Get up, Zhou Quan!"

When Zhou Quan opened his eyes, his gaze was still unfocused.

"Good morning, husband!" Li Mai waved her little hand at him.

Zhou Quan saw Li Mai so close to him and instantly woke up. "Ah, Xiao Mai, you fell asleep last night. I couldn't carry you, and I didn't dare wake you up, so..."
