Chapter 33 Fran's Tracking

... ...

... ...

"Okay, that's all for today's magic class. You can go home now."

As Collette announced the end of school, dozens of boys and girls immediately dispersed in a noisy manner.

"Oh, by the way, please stay for a moment, Hulim-san!"

A young girl stopped in the crowd.

"Okay, Teacher Collette."

Hulim followed Collette into the staff lounge, going against the crowd.

Neither of them noticed that not far behind them, a figure was staring at them, or rather at Hulim, with gritted teeth.

"Damn it, Hulim again! Is Hulim really that great?! My magic isn't bad either!"

Fran Banton was very angry.

"Damn it! I can't believe it! I've already started learning magic. There shouldn't be a family magic teacher in Hulim. And yet! His progress in three whole branches of magic is not behind mine!"

"There must be something wrong here!"

Hulim followed Collette into the lounge.

Collette's temperament suddenly became a little lazy.

"Well, Hulim, you're pretty good at using the wand, aren't you?"

"Well, I've become quite proficient in this during this period."

"Is that so? That's good. Although it's not convenient for you to bring your wand to school right now, don't fall behind in your practice when you get back. Magic is something that requires constant effort to improve!"

"I understand, Teacher Collette. I won't slack off."

"Ahahaha, Hulim is so serious. The teacher doesn't know how to teach you."

Collette joked.

Hulim: "..."

"Having said that, although practicing magic is important, you can't slack off on the basics of magic courses either. Otherwise, it would be terrible to become a magic illiterate who can only use magic but doesn't understand it."

Collette is talking about the theoretical knowledge of magic class here. Magic class certainly does not simply teach students how to use magic.

Understanding magic, recognizing magic, and learning to analyze magic are also very important. After all, the concept of magic is very broad. The branches of magic alone include alchemy, magic engineering, potions, array formations, etc.

These things are closely related to people's lives, and even a considerable part of the things we use in life contain this knowledge. For example, the common lighting lamps made of glowstone in people's homes involve magic engineering and formation science.

For this reason, popularizing various basic knowledge of magic to people is also an important task of magic classes in preparatory schools.

"I understand, Teacher Collette. I will study hard."

Hulim answered seriously.

"Hey... well, Hulim, I was just saying it casually. You don't have to take it so seriously. After all, you're already studying hard enough."

“… …”

is that so?

Hulim was a little confused. She felt that the intensity of learning in the classroom was far inferior to Semiris's training.

Speaking of training, what's going on with Semiris lately...

Collette stopped Hulim just to find out how the wand was adapting, so after chatting for a few words, Hulim said goodbye and left.

After leaving the school gate, Hulim walked along the south-facing street.

Shortly after she left the school, a sneaky figure emerged and followed her quietly.

"Humph, I must see today what secrets you have!"

Fran, with her golden curly hair and twin ponytails, snorted coldly and continued to follow.

Perhaps because they were in a safe town, Hulim was not too vigilant, or perhaps the crowd around them masked the abnormality, so Hulim did not notice that someone was following him.

"Hmm, that's strange. Isn't Hulim's home southeast? Why is she still heading south? Shouldn't she be turning around now?"

When Fran followed Hulim to an intersection, Hulim did not walk towards the east street which was the direction to go home, but continued walking along the south street.

"There's something wrong indeed! Humph, Hulim, I'll definitely expose your secret today!"

Fran, who thought she was about to get hold of Hulim's weakness, immediately followed excitedly.

And just as Fran guessed, Hulim was indeed going to a special place, which was the forest of the mine south of Ment Town.

Ever since she started studying with Semiris, Hulim would go to the forest for training after school before returning home.

At first, the family was indeed curious about why she took so long to come back after school, but over time they got used to it and just thought that their little daughter must have gone out to play with her friends.

To save time, Hulim chose the shortest route in town.

And this route happens to pass through an old neighborhood in the town...

"... What kind of place is this?! What is Hulim doing in a place like this?"

Fran looked at the messy street in front of her with disgust. There were not many people on the street, and the occasional passers-by looked hurried. Apart from that, some corners of the street were gathering in groups of three or four who were obviously not good people.

Fran hesitated, feeling very reluctant to step into this street.

But looking at Hulim's back getting farther and farther away, Fran finally made up her mind.

"Hmph! I've followed you all the way here, how can I give up? And for Hulim to actually come to a place like this, there must be something seriously wrong. If I miss this opportunity, I don't know how long it will take to catch her!"
