Chapter 28 Let's go to the market!

Gu Yanbai, "You still dare to call me a pig?"

Come back here! Whose wife is like you?

You ran away after a few words of argument? Aren't you afraid people will laugh at you?

"Let whoever wants to laugh laugh, I don't care!" Su Nianxue said, looking like there was no room for negotiation.

"You don't care, but I do!"

I really owe you something.

"Su Nianxue, let me tell you, if you push me too far, I won't be coming home at night anymore." Gu Yanbai cursed as he got out of bed.

"Really?" Upon hearing this, Su Nianxue immediately perked up, her eyes brightening.

Gu Yanbai...

"I...a good man doesn't fight with a woman."

Gu Yanbai was somewhat annoyed. How could he forget that she was different from the other women in the village? She was probably hoping he wouldn't come back.

If I really did that, wouldn't that be exactly what she wanted?

He was filled with resentment once again, wondering how he could have been so blinded by lust and impulsively agreed to the marriage.

He kicked the wall angrily and strode out of the room.

Soon, the sound of flushing water came from the backyard. Su Nianxue curled her lips and a hint of pleasure flashed in her eyes.

She doesn't seem to be afraid of his stern face anymore.

Soon, Gu Yanbai returned, covered in sweat.

Before she could say anything, he silenced her with a kiss.

………

The next day, she slept until the sun was high in the sky before getting up, just like always.

When Su Nianxue got up, Gu Yanliu quickly brought out the breakfast that was keeping warm in the pot.

"Sister-in-law, today is market day, let's go to town and have some fun."

“Okay, there’s not much work to do in the fields anyway.” Su Nianxue readily agreed, as she hadn’t been out to play in a long time.

Before Su Nianxue had even finished her meal, Gu Yanliu had already changed into that blue polyester dress.

She rushed up to Su Nianxue like a gust of wind, excitedly twirling around, "Isn't sister-in-law pretty?"

"Yes, it looks good. Our Yanliu looks good in anything."

"Sister-in-law, why don't you change into something too? Let's go to the market looking our best together," Gu Yanliu pleaded, shaking her arm.

"I don't need it!"

She rarely wore new clothes before; whenever she made new clothes, she would save them for the New Year or when visiting relatives.

She was actually a little reluctant to wear it unless it was a holiday or a special occasion.

"Yanliu is right, go change into it!"

Clothes are meant to be worn. This is the latest style in the provincial capital; it'll go out of fashion if it sits for too long.

As the two were talking, Gu Yanbai suddenly walked in from outside the door.

"Haven't you gone to town yet today?"

She seemed to have gotten used to his early mornings and late nights, and it was still a bit strange to see him the moment she opened her eyes.

Seeing her dazed expression, Gu Yanbai smiled and said, "Go to your room and change. I'll carry you to town."

Unable to persuade the siblings, Su Nianxue had no choice but to go to her room and change.

As soon as they came out, Gu Yanliu exclaimed exaggeratedly, "Sister-in-law, you look so beautiful in this outfit!"

"Really?" She looked at the dress she was wearing; it did fit her perfectly.

A refreshing morning.

The woman wore a red knee-length dress, revealing a section of her fair and tender calves. A belt was tied around her slender waist, making her look tall and graceful.

I've been working in the fields a lot lately, and I've gotten quite tanned.

The neck is a bit darker than the arms and legs.

However, it will turn white again if you keep it covered up.

Dressed like this, someone who didn't know her might mistake her for a young lady from a wealthy family.

She doesn't look like a married woman at all.

Gu Yanbai's eyes narrowed slightly. Should he stop letting her go to the fields from now on?

Seeing that he hadn't spoken for a while, Su Nianxue walked up to him, looked up at him, and asked, "What's wrong? Is something wrong?"

"No, let's go!" He resolutely refused to admit that he had just been stunned.

Su Nianxue looked at the bicycle in the yard, somewhat perplexed.

"There's only one seat in the back, how are we supposed to sit?"

“Why can’t we sit? Yanliu, sit in the back, you sit in the front.” He patted the spot on the crossbar.

Su Nianxue was stunned. She had sat like this when she was a child, when she went to town with her parents.

"Isn't this a bad idea?"

She felt like a little child, and there was a feeling of being held in his arms. In broad daylight, she always felt a little uncomfortable.

Gu Yanliu was still waiting to go to the market, and seeing how they were dawdling, she said, "Brother, how about I switch with my sister-in-law?"

She sat behind me, and I sat in front of her on the crossbar. She probably thought your technique wasn't good enough and was afraid you'd fall.

Su Nianxue laughed, "Okay, let's do it this way!"

Gu Yanbai narrowed his eyes slightly, "Should I ride or will you ride?"

Gu Yanliu, if you keep nagging, you're not going. Just stay home and guard the gate!

I'll take your sister-in-law to town.

Upon hearing this, Gu Yanliu obediently shut his mouth.

He chuckled and said, "Okay, okay, whatever you say."

"Come up." Gu Yanbai glanced at Su Nianxue and gestured for her to get on the horizontal bar.

Gu Yanliu didn't need anyone to tell her; she was already seated in the back seat.

Su Nianxue had no choice but to go, but she still said worriedly, "Ride slowly, don't fall!"

"Stop nagging, come up here!"

My skills are top-notch, how could I possibly fall over?

So many people want to ride in my car, but I won't let them!

"How tedious." Gu Yanbai braced himself on one leg, released one handlebar, and gestured for her to get on.

"What's there to be proud of?"
