Chapter 74 The Tiger

As soon as Li Mantian entered the cave, his face turned pale. Beside the hastily lit fire, that familiar figure lay on Bai Xue's body. Who else could it be but Shuang'er?

"What's wrong? What happened?" Li Mantian rushed to Ye Shuang's side, knelt down, and carefully hugged her. He touched her forehead and found it was a little hot. It seemed she was tired or frightened.

Zhao Tangtang was also pulled aside by Zhao Xiaodao, who looked her up and down. He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that she was unharmed: "What happened? What's going on?"

"Baby, you scared the whole family!"

"Mother, I was wrong..."

"Erniu, why are you still on the mountain so late?"

"Because of that!"

"What?"

...

Seeing that everyone around them had found their children, Li Mantian picked up Ye Shuang and said calmly, "Now that we've found the child, let's hurry down the mountain. It's not safe up there."

“Brother Li is right. We should take the child back home as soon as possible. Is Shuang’er alright?” Zhao Xiaodao frowned as he looked at Ye Shuang, who had her eyes closed in Li Mantian’s arms. He then looked down at Zhao Tangtang, who hadn’t said a word. “What’s wrong with Shuang’er?”

Zhao Tangtang tugged at Zhao Xiaodao's hand and pulled him deeper into the cave. When they reached the end, they could finally see what was inside by the faint firelight.

A yellow tiger lay silently in the grass, seemingly dead from accidentally eating poisonous wild animals.

"Shuang'er... was frightened by this." At this moment, the frail girl wiped away her tears with one hand and tightly clutched her father's clothes with the other, sobbing as she spoke.

Zhao Xiaodao turned around and looked at Li Mantian. Being frightened could be a big deal or a small one. If it were a boy, it would only be a nightmare for a few days, but if it were a girl, she might lose her life: "This thing can't escape here. Brother Li, let's go down the mountain first."

Li Mantian nodded, but still asked two of the villagers who had come with him to stay behind and guard the area. They would take the child back and then come up to help transport the tiger down the mountain.

Along the way, Li Mantian strode forward, carefully carrying Ye Shuang in his hands. Zhao Xiaodao also picked up Zhao Tangtang and followed closely behind Li Mantian. Other villagers followed suit, carrying those they couldn't lift on their backs. They all went down the mountain as fast as they could. Who knew if there would be a second tiger in the mountains?

"No wonder there's been no movement from that tiger for so long; it's already dead," Zhao Xiaodao said in a low voice.

Li Mantian nodded: "Our village is lucky this year. That tiger skin is a good thing. I don't see any damage on it."

"Let's keep it for Wenyi." Another villager joined the discussion. "Wenyi is the only official in our village. Whether we give him to his superiors or colleagues, it's a good thing for him."

Li Mantian shook his head: "Children and grandchildren have their own blessings. I can't control that child now, so let's just leave it at that and discuss this matter later."

Seeing that their flattery had backfired, the villagers smiled sheepishly and retreated to the side, embarrassed.

With her eyes closed, Ye Shuang only felt the wind whistling through the mountains and forests. It was as if they were running through the mountains, but they did not feel any bumps at all.

Just when she thought she had only gone halfway, a familiar voice rang in her ears.
