"What's wrong with Shuang'er?" Madam Li asked anxiously. The other children were laughing and talking on their fathers' backs or in their arms, but her Shuang'er was lying in Li Mantian's arms with her eyes closed and her complexion was so bad. It made her heart ache.
"Go quickly and fetch Doctor Zhang." Li Mantian didn't even have time to explain to Madam Li before throwing down these words and carrying Ye Shuang to her small bedroom.
Bai Xue, who was behind them, seemed to sense their anxiety and whimpered softly behind Li Mantian. But Li Mantian had no intention of comforting her. He sat on the edge of the bed, looked at the little girl on the bed, held her little hand, and whispered, "Shuang'er, be good, you will be alright, right?"
A moment later, hurried footsteps could be heard outside the door. An elderly man, dressed in a white undershirt, slightly hunched over, with gray hair and a long beard, ran in with a fairly agile gait.
Forget about etiquette now, Li Mantian quickly stood up and gave the place to the only doctor in the village: "Doctor Zhang, my Shuang'er was trapped on the mountain last night. When I found her, she was already like this and had a fever. Please help me take a look."
Doctor Zhang quickly sat down on the edge of the bed, picked up the little guy's wrist and carefully took his pulse. After a while, he smiled gently, stroked his beard and said, "It's nothing serious, he's just a little tired. As for the fever, I just touched him and the temperature has gone down. He should rest more these few days, and the child will recover quickly."
Upon hearing this, Li Mantian and Li Shi both breathed a sigh of relief. Li Mantian took out a copper coin and sent the doctor back, thanking him profusely along the way. Doctor Zhang was the only doctor in the surrounding villages, and he usually traveled between several villages. Ye Shuang was lucky to find him in the village today.
Looking at Ye Shuang sleeping soundly on the bed, Li couldn't help but smile. Fortunately, she was alright. She tucked the blanket around her and slowly left the small bedroom. As long as she was alright, everything else could be taught later. Shuang'er was just a child after all.
Hearing that Li had left the bedroom, Ye Shuang dared to open her eyes. She really didn't expect things to escalate like this. Originally, she just wanted to develop a slight fever so that when she woke up she could say that she was confused and couldn't remember anything. But she didn't expect Li Mantian's reaction to be so strong, which made her quickly lower her body temperature. However, she was afraid that explaining it tomorrow would be a bit of a hassle.
Snow White obediently squatted at the foot of the bed, looking at her owner who was full of troubles. They were just the thoughts of a few ordinary mortals. Was it necessary to care so much?
Unfortunately, no matter how much you don't want to face it, what's coming will still come.
The next morning, Madam Li gently placed rice porridge in front of Ye Shuang's bedside, letting her lean against the headboard, and fed her little by little with a small spoon: "Shuang'er, were you tired yesterday? Why don't you rest well at home for a few days? The autumn harvest is just around the corner, and if Shuang'er doesn't help, your parents will be overwhelmed!"
Since Madam Li had said so, how could Ye Shuang possibly refuse? She revealed her signature obedient and docile smile, swallowing every mouthful of rice porridge that Madam Li fed her, while nodding obediently, even though with her current cultivation level she didn't need to eat at all.
