Chapter 74: Prelude to the Reveal of One's Identity

The Dark Guard base is constantly monitored by countless guards. Under the current circumstances, not even a fly could infiltrate the Dark Guard base without alerting the guards, let alone a person.

However, Qin Sheng and his group were allowed to pass without any documentation or inspection.

This is solely due to the existence of Qin Zheng, the former leader of the Dark Division.

Yes, that's the former leader.

The Dark Army is a clandestine force of the Chinese government. Its exact origins are unclear, but its roots can be traced back to the Qing Dynasty, a history of nearly three hundred years. It can be considered one of the longest-standing forces in China today.

After Qin Zheng came of age, he became the highest leader of the Dark Division with the support of the government for twenty years, until seven years ago when Qin Sheng's elder brother, Qin Muyuan, came of age and took over the Dark Division.

Even after stepping down, Qin Zheng remains the supreme leader in the hearts of the members of the Dark Division. They may doubt or be wary of anyone, but they would never turn their attention to the man who once led them to create countless miracles and guided them to glory!

Amidst the reverent calls of "Great Leader," the three passed through checkpoints and entered the deepest part of the Dark Division, finally stopping in front of an exceptionally bright small building.

It wasn't that they weren't allowed in, but rather that another group of people happened to come from the side and bumped right into the three of them.

The leader was a man wearing the uniform of the Dark Guard. He looked up and saw Qin Zheng. He was stunned for a moment and was about to salute, but before he could even raise his hand, a woman's anxious voice came from behind him.

"Captain Xu, didn't you say that Brother Mu Yuan's situation was very urgent this time? Why did you stop?"

Xu Chi subconsciously looked at Qin Zheng, and seeing him frown, he quickly explained, "This is Miss Chi from the Chi family of Tiandu. She was the leader's junior at Tiandu University. Miss Chi knows Hua Zhen, the master healer. When she heard that the leader was injured, she specially invited Hua Zhen to come and treat the leader."

Qin Zheng then noticed that there was a man carrying a medicine box standing behind Xu Chi, but the man was hidden in the shadows and did not say a word. Qin Zheng was preoccupied with other things and had not noticed him.

Judging from Xu Chi's words, this man was none other than Hua Shengshou, the renowned physician who had risen to fame in recent years.

Qin Zheng softened his expression and nodded to Xu Chi: "Then let's go in together."

After saying that, he led Qin Sheng and the other person inside.

Chi Yuanyuan and Hua Zhen's expressions changed slightly at the same time.

Chi Yuanyuan, in particular, looked at the unfamiliar girl who was half a step behind Qin Zheng and entered the small building before her. Her expression changed repeatedly, and she finally couldn't help but ask, "Captain Xu, I wonder who these three people are and why they can walk here so easily and enter the small building directly?"

She glanced at Hua Zhen beside her, her tone filled with dissatisfaction: "You must know what kind of person Hua Shengshou is. He rushed over without stopping from the moment he received my request, just to heal Brother Mu Yuan. But now that he's already at the door, instead of inviting him in, you've left us standing here. Is this how your Dark Division treats its guests?"

Xu Chi had just wiped the cold sweat from his forehead when he heard these words and couldn't help but roll his eyes.

He simply greeted his father, the former and current leader of his own clan. How could that be considered ignoring them?

Oh, is it proper hospitality for the host to rush home to see their injured son and let the guests and doctors go in first, while they wait until the very end to enter?

Besides, didn't their leader say, "Let's go in together"? Why are they blaming him for arguing instead of going in themselves?

He was inwardly grumbling, but since his leader was still waiting for someone to save his life, Xu Chi didn't dare to really offend anyone. So he put on a smile and patiently explained, "The man who spoke just now is our leader's father. You see, as a subordinate, I can't very well stop the leader's father from coming in, can I?"

These words were mainly directed at Hua Zhen, since Hua Zhen was the one who could truly save lives. As for Chi Yuanyuan...

Xu Chi curled his lip. She was just a woman who had pursued their leader. She was only acting arrogantly because she knew Hua Shengshou. She was not worthy of making him bow his head.

It turned out to be my father.

Upon hearing this, Hua Zhen's expression softened considerably. He composed himself and shook his head at Chi Yuanyuan, saying, "Alright, Yuanyuan, it's just a small matter. Let's go in and rescue the people."

Chi Yuanyuan was still somewhat unwilling, but since Hua Zhen had already said so, she couldn't argue any further and could only enter the small building with a sullen face.

At this moment, Qin Sheng and the other two had arrived at the door of Qin Muyuan's room. Immediately, a strong smell of blood hit them, and all three of them frowned.

Especially Qin Sheng.

As a doctor, she understands better than most how dangerous this level of bleeding can be.

Upon entering, a face so pale it was almost bloodless came into view, and Qin Sheng's fingertips trembled slightly.

Ignoring the people staring at them from inside the room, Qin Sheng walked out from behind Qin Zheng and Qin Muyuan and appeared beside Qin Muyuan before anyone could react, directly placing her hand on his wrist to take his pulse.

Everyone's expression changed, and they were about to stop her, but Qin Zheng stepped in front of her first, his warning eyes sweeping over everyone: "Let her see."

Everyone froze, stopping in their tracks.

Qin Sheng ignored it all, closing her eyes and focusing her mind on feeling Qin Muyuan's pulse.

When Chi Yuanyuan followed Xu Chi in, this was the scene she saw. Her expression changed drastically: "What are you doing?!"

She quickly stepped forward, grabbed Qin Sheng's wrist, and tried to pull it outwards, but couldn't budge it.

Qin Sheng opened her eyes at some point, and with a flick of her wrist, she broke free from Chi Yuanyuan's grasp. The force of the movement sent Chi Yuanyuan staggering back several steps until she crashed into the wall.

Chi Yuanyuan felt a tingling and numb sensation in the web of her hand, completely stunned. When she came to her senses, she was utterly shocked: "You hit me?!"

The change happened so fast that not only the members of the Dark Guard who were far away, but even Qin Zheng, who was right next to Qin Sheng, couldn't react immediately. It wasn't until he heard Chi Yuanyuan's voice that he snapped back to reality.

His face immediately darkened: "Apologize!"

Chi Yuanyuan's expression softened a bit. She raised her chin at Qin Sheng and commanded, "Did you hear me? Apologize!"

Qin Zheng was so angry he almost laughed. He stared intently at Chi Yuanyuan, his voice deep and cold: "Isn't it you, Miss Chi, who should apologize?"

"Interrupting someone's actions without cause, especially when they are fully focused, do you know that doing so can easily scare them?!"

Chi Yuanyuan processed Qin Zheng's words, blinked, and couldn't help but point to herself and then to Qin Sheng: "You mean, you want me to apologize to her?!"

Qin Zheng's expression darkened further: "Otherwise what?"
