Chapter 101 You Help Me

Chapter 101 You Help Me

Ten days or half a month have passed in the blink of an eye.

As dawn broke, the few sports fields at the Kangcheng base were packed with people, like middle school students doing morning exercises, but faster and more orderly, with one group after another quickly passing by on the track.

Tang Zhao glanced at the time, led the team away from the track, settled the others in their training first, and then happily ran to the end. "Brother, are you alright?"

Bai Chenzhu was panting heavily, supporting himself on his knees. Even though he didn't sweat much, his clothes were now sticking to his body.

Tang Zhao looked at him and felt a little sorry for him. "The physique of people with superpowers is different from that of ordinary people, and the training will be more difficult. Brother, you have only recently recovered, so you don't need to come along."

In fact, he felt that apart from being physically weaker, Bai Chenzhu was already stronger than ordinary people. However, there was really no need to compare him with people with superpowers.

Bai Chenzhu finally caught his breath, stood up and glanced at him. Sai Xue's phoenix eyes were particularly bright. "That's why you need to practice more, since you're not fully recovered. Don't worry, you can do your thing, don't mind me, I know what I'm doing."

Despite this, the Baichen bamboo still attracts a high rate of attention.

"Is he Commander Jiang's assistant? The one who exposed the alien spies at the base?"

"It's said that the superpower is quite special."

"I don't know, but it looks more unique, hehe."

...

"Snap out of it!" Tang Zhao said angrily, raising his voice. "Count off again, remember your numbers, and practice one-on-one according to the numbers you drew."

When it came to the two-person practice session, Bai Chenzhu quietly left the team and headed towards the office building.

Under a tree outside the sports field, a person leaned against the tree trunk and looked around for a long time.

Bai Chenzhu walked over and naturally extended her right hand to him.

Jiang Ye glanced down, unable to suppress the corners of his mouth, and asked knowingly, "What?"

Bai Chenzhu used only one word: "to pull".

"Oh, so you're holding my hand now?" Jiang Ye was petty, but when Bai Chenzhu showed any sign of pulling her hand back, he panicked and immediately grabbed her arm. "Hold on, hold on, hold on!"

Having just finished running, Bai Chenzhu's hands were still warm. Holding Jiang Ye's dry palm felt like touching a soft biscuit. Bai Chenzhu pressed it, feeling as if she were holding a soft, large steamed bun, and cherished it dearly. "What brings you here?"

Usually, he would bring breakfast to Jiang Ye's office after his run, but today Jiang Ye came to the sports field to wait for him.

"Because you have to go for a physical exam today." Jiang Ye looked down at the two of their hands and childishly shook them twice. "See? You must have forgotten if I didn't tell you. Sister Zhuohua said you have to have regular check-ups."

Bai Chenzhu had really forgotten. He turned his head guiltily, took Jiang Ye's hand, and walked forward, saying, "Then let's go together."

The sports field was crowded, but fewer people came out. People passing by couldn't help but steal glances at the two of them.

Bai Chenzhu ignored him and said, "Zombies don't have the ability to think and they don't gather together. Recently, there have been frequent reports of zombie attacks at various bases. The squad leaders have been asking me for information, asking what you plan to do?"

"What do I plan to do?" Jiang Ye raised an eyebrow, as always, and said jokingly, "Just do it! Once we wipe them all out, the world will be at peace."

Bai Chenzhu sighed, amused and helpless, not too surprised by his answer.

Jiang Ye said, "Isn't that the logic?"

"Yes, yes, yes," Bai Chenzhu said. "The officer is absolutely right."

A forceful pull came from behind, and Bai Chenzhu could no longer move. He turned around and looked at Jiang Ye in confusion. Suddenly, Jiang Ye stretched out two fingers and pinched his mouth shut.

Pinch it inwards, and it becomes a little chicken beak.

"You've grown quite capable, daring to be perfunctory with your superiors?" Jiang Ye sneered.

Bai Chenzhu knew his style, but suddenly felt like teasing him, so she pretended to be angry and shook off his finger, "Such a big official's airs, are you the only one allowed to fool me?"

"No way." Jiang Ye put one hand in his pocket and smiled. "Spare me, A-Zhu."

"I wouldn't dare." Bai Chenzhu released his hand and walked forward on her own.

The sound of light footsteps came from behind. Bai Chenzhu suddenly stopped and turned around, almost bumping his head with Jiang Ye. Both of them were stunned.

"Why are you in such a hurry?" Bai Chenzhu asked after he had taken a half step back and stood still.

"I'm afraid you'll run away." Jiang Ye secretly pulled him back, and Bai Chenzhu held his hand firmly, which made him smile with satisfaction.

“He can’t run away, his family is here.” Bai Chenzhu observed Jiang Ye’s expression and saw that he was even happier, which made her feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Jiang Ye led him forward, "You need to take your medicine properly and recover quickly. In a while, I plan to go out of the city to investigate the reason why zombies are frequently harassing the base, you..."

Jiang Ye's Adam's apple bobbed, and he turned to ask, "Are you going?"

“Go.” Bai Chenzhu said decisively, “Haven’t we come this way all along? If possible, call Tang Zhao and the others.”

Speaking of the past, Bai Chenzhu felt a pang of nostalgia.

As he could remember more and more, he became more and more entangled with people in this world, until he looked back and realized that he was no longer the indifferent person he was when he first came to Kangcheng.

——

Inside the institute.

Zhou Zhuohua pushed up his glasses, took the report and looked at it carefully again and again, "The blood clot in Xiao Bai's brain has almost disappeared."

Jiang Ye stepped forward, "Let me see!"

The report was snatched from her hand. Zhou Zhuohua said slowly, "What's the rush? You don't even know how to read it."

"I'd love to." Jiang Ye grinned, turning to look at Bai Chenzhu.

Bai Chenzhu tapped his forehead, "Silly grin."

Jiang Ye proudly waved the report, repeating his previous statement, "I'm happy to."

Bai Chenzhu took the report and looked down at the images and diagnosis. He couldn't understand them at all, but Zhou Zhuohua was there and was explaining the situation and subsequent treatment to the two of them in detail.

After listening, Jiang Ye nodded, "Don't worry, I'll make sure he takes his medicine and goes for follow-up appointments."

Bai Chenzhu glanced at Jiang Ye and said honestly, "Indeed, you're more punctual than an alarm clock."

"Can an alarm clock compare to me?" Jiang Ye exclaimed indignantly.

Instead of answering, Bai Chenzhu asked, "Hmm, what do you think?"

As the two were chatting and laughing, a soft call came from the side after much hesitation, "Xiao Bai."

Bai Chenzhu looked at Zhou Zhuohua with some surprise, only to see Zhou Zhuohua's gentle expression and a slight smile. Her lips moved slightly, and all her unspoken words were finally condensed into one sentence: "It's so good that you're alright."

From the moment she first met Bai Chenzhu, who had lost his memory, she was filled with all sorts of worries. Although she appeared calm, as a doctor, she had considered all the worst-case scenarios. She never expected that Bai Chenzhu's recovery would be far better than she had imagined.

She had all sorts of worries as a friend, but in the end, they all boiled down to one sentence: "It's good that you're alright."

"Mm." Bai Chenzhu looked at her, as if from another world. Various images flashed through his mind, and the corners of his lips curved. "I haven't had a chance to say it yet, but I'm really happy to see Sister Zhuohua again."

"Xiao Bai!" Zhou Zhuohua suddenly rushed over and put her arm around his shoulder.

Bai Chenzhu stared at her in astonishment. She was shorter than two people, just reaching her ears.

Just like the warmth I once felt.

Bai Chenzhu patted her back carefully, "Sister Zhuohua, you've been working hard lately."

"It's not hard work, it's you who's worked hard. Even with amnesia, you still brought Mengmeng back for me. I owe you a thank you." Zhou Zhuohua's eyes welled up with tears. She took a step back and looked up.

“Meeting Mengmeng was an accident. Sister Zhuohua works at the research institute and still has to take care of me. I should be the one to say thank you to her,” Bai Chenzhu said sincerely.

"Focus on actions, not intentions, Xiao Bai, thank you."

...

Bai Chenzhu was at a loss amidst this scene of repeated thanks.

Jiang Ye seemed to see right through him and joked, "Hey, sis, you're so close, I'm getting jealous."

Zhou Zhuohua laughed and punched Jiang Ye on the shoulder. Her eyes were red and her dark pupils were brimming with tears. "With your bad temper, you're lucky to know Xiao Bai."

"Who benefits from whom in the end?" Jiang Ye protested.

Bai Chenzhu looked at this and that, and finally chose to stand on Jiang Ye's side, "It's a good deal for me."

Zhou Zhuohua was so angry at his blatant favoritism that she laughed so hard she blew a snot bubble.

Then the two were kicked out of the research institute by the out-of-control Zhou Zhuohua.

——

It was still early, but the work still needed to be done.

Bai Chenzhu had breakfast with Jiang Ye, then collected all the reports from the recent patrol teams and placed them beside Jiang Ye. He glanced at the time and earnestly reminded him, "Shouldn't we go check on the training grounds?"

Every day or two, Jiang Ye would go to the training ground to check on things, and sometimes he would spar with people. When he was in the mood, he would beat a whole bunch of people.

He didn't look particularly muscular; his muscles weren't exaggerated, and he wasn't much stronger than him. Bai Chenzhu subtly observed Jiang Ye's physique, but strangely, he could unleash tremendous energy.

He remembered that when the zombies first appeared, Jiang Ye struggled to deal with a superhuman and almost died along with him. But when did he start getting stronger?

Bai Chenzhu frowned, his gaze becoming increasingly undisguised.

Jiang Ye couldn't possibly have been unaware. He stood up and pulled Bai Chenzhu over, flipping their positions so that Bai Chenzhu was sandwiched between him and the table, his hands bracing against the tabletop behind him.

"What are you thinking about?"

Bai Chenzhu snapped out of her daze and simply stood diagonally against the table. "I wasn't thinking about anything."

"You're lying," Jiang Ye persisted. "Your eyes are practically tearing my clothes off."

That's true. Bai Chenzhu chuckled, pressed his fingertips against his cuff, slowly inserted a finger, lifted the cuff, and brushed his fingertip against his skin. But he said honestly and seriously, "I was wondering how you train."

"Do you even need to think about it?" Jiang Ye remained unmoved. "I can demonstrate it for you right here."

"Really?" Bai Chenzhu raised his chin, not quite believing it. "Is your 'demonstration' even legitimate?"

Jiang Ye couldn't help but laugh, pressing his right hand against the fingers sliding on Jiang Ye's left arm. "You're not exactly serious either, so my demonstration certainly isn't serious either."

"You're slandering me." Bai Chenzhu blatantly lied.

“Fine, I’ll slander you.” Jiang Ye pulled out the hem of his shirt that was tucked into his pants. “Didn’t you want to see how I work out? I’ll show you now.”

“Then don’t tear my clothes,” Bai Chenzhu’s Adam’s apple bobbed slightly, “tear your own clothes.”

"You help me."

Warm lips pressed against his, and Bai Chenzhu's back went numb. His own clothes were ripped open, but Jiang Ye's T-shirt couldn't find a tear for him.

Or rather, every time he wanted to tear it apart violently, Jiang Ye would pull his hand away.

In a flash, Bai Chenzhu remembered a time when he had a fever, and Jiang Ye hugged him shirtless, saying that he always wore too many clothes.

He did it on purpose.

Having seen through it all, Bai Chenzhu reflexively bit down on the restless thing in her mouth, just like a clam clinging to a fish and refusing to let go.

Jiang Ye had no choice but to crawl out of the clam shell, panting as he looked at Bai Chenzhu, showing him his rosy tongue, "Bite me."

Bai Chenzhu pinched his chin and looked at it for a long time but couldn't see any mark. However, Jiang Ye's grievances were written all over his face, so he softened and said, "I'll bite you back for you."

"You said it." Jiang Ye's fierce expression fell lightly on Bai Chenzhu's smooth neck and shoulder. Bai Chenzhu paused, then raised her slender fingers and indulgently cupped the back of Jiang Ye's head.

He leaned against his desk, dappled sunlight filtering through the trees outside the window. His breath, both deep and shallow, escaped from his moving red lips. Bai Chenzhu's eyes were filled with the swaying leaves, and the black head on his neck gradually slid down his clothes.

He never expected Jiang Ye to go to such lengths. He closed his eyes, his heart filled with mixed emotions. The sunlight falling on the table grew even hotter, making his bent fingers appear translucent like jade. The shadows of the leaves swayed in the light.

Until a certain moment, Bai Chenzhu let out a muffled groan, spread his five fingers and pressed them against Jiang Ye's forehead. His phoenix eyes were dark and moist, with a hint of languor, and his voice was low and husky, "Enough."
