After taking a shower, Chu Yu lay in bed reading. She was wearing headphones, and the volume was loud enough, but it still couldn't drown out the shaking of the upper bunk.
Was this an earthquake or parkour? The bed was shaking so badly it felt like it was going to collapse, and dusty blankets were falling down in waves. Chu Yu frowned, took off her headphones, and patted Liao Xiaoqiao's blanket.
"Liao Xiaoqiao, could you please keep your voice down?"
Liao Xiaoqiao glanced at her small recorder, a thoughtful look flashing in her eyes.
Despite her family background—her parents and grandparents being prominent figures—she only bought a small tape recorder for a few hundred yuan.
Chu Yu is quite something; how could a farming family afford the latest Sony model?
"I was just turning over, it wasn't on purpose. Besides, the top bunk is always noisy, so you should have been prepared if you were sleeping on the bottom bunk."
Liao Xiaoqiao rolled her eyes and deliberately turned over to pull the bed sheet. She was sloppy and didn't know how to throw away the food she had finished eating. Candy wrappers, dust, and fruit pits all fell through the seams of the bed.
Chu Yu was certain that she did it on purpose; she didn't have the habit of indulging others, so she stuffed all the fallen things into her blanket.
Liao Xiaoqiao was stuffed with a blanket of garbage and screamed.
What are you doing?
"What are you talking about? Have you no shame? You can shake the trash down there, and I can stuff it back in. What, is your bed a bed, and everyone else's bed a garbage dump? Let me tell you, I'm not someone to be trifled with. If you dare to keep causing trouble, I'll show you what I'm capable of."
After Chu Yu finished speaking, she put on her headphones and continued listening to English.
Liao Xiaoqiao had never suffered such a loss before. Usually, when she bullied others, they would give in to her because of her family. They would never dare to argue with her, talk back to her, or curse her like this.
Zhou Chuyu is just a country girl, where did she get such a big temper and dare to talk back to her?
Liao Xiaoqiao's eyes reddened with anger. She pursed her lips, wanting to accuse Chu Yu of bullying her, but Chu Yu completely ignored her.
"You just wait, I'll make you apologize to me in person," she said angrily.
Before Liao Xiaoqiao could finish speaking, the bed board was kicked twice from underneath.
Chu Yu was completely unceremonious, her voice icy cold:
"The dormitory is not your home, please be quiet."
Liao Xiaoqiao still wanted to cause trouble, but Chu Yu was not someone to be trifled with. She could only swallow her anger and finally hid under the covers, sobbing as if Chu Yu had bullied her.
Chu Yu's roommates gave her a thumbs-up from afar, and Zhang Ying beckoned Chu Yu over to her side.
"How could this person be like this? I've never met anyone so unreasonable in my life. Is she really going to cause you trouble?"
"She wouldn't dare, there's no need to be afraid of her."
Chu Yu didn't want to cause trouble. It's just that these kinds of people take advantage of you. If you give them a nice look, they'll take advantage of you. If you don't take a stand in time, they'll only bully you more.
She wouldn't waste her emotions on someone like that.
If you want to argue, argue; if you want to criticize, criticize. It's no big deal.
In the first few days of school, Chu Yu received new books, went to her new classroom, and got along quite well with her roommates.
There are very few girls in the Computer Science department, and they are all extremely rare, like pandas. Chu Yu caused a sensation as soon as she entered the classroom.
Everyone says that girls in liberal arts classes are pretty, and there aren't many girls in the computer science department, but Chu Yu's appearance is simply too eye-catching. Not to mention science classes, you can't find this level of beauty anywhere else in Tsinghua University, no, in the whole of Beijing, or even in the whole country.
People from other classes came to see her. Chu Yu became famous at Tsinghua University. Less than three days after the start of the semester, she was awarded the title of "the most beautiful campus belle of Tsinghua University in history" and made a splash with her appearance.
"Chu Yu, I really envy you. Being smart and beautiful is something to be proud of, but you have both. Not only are you the top science student, but you're also the most beautiful girl at Tsinghua University. If I were half as good as you, I'd be laughing in my sleep every night," Zhang Ying exclaimed.
Chu Yu shook her head helplessly, "It's not as exaggerated as you say."
"Of course you do! By the way, a lot of guys have said they want to pursue you. What kind of guy do you like? I'll help you pick one."
For college students, dating isn't a big deal, as long as they don't fall behind in their studies.
"I have a boyfriend."
"Huh? Really?" Zhang Ying and Li Miao gathered around. "No way? They'll be heartbroken if they know you're taken. You're not kidding us, are you?"
"I really do have a boyfriend now. I'll have him treat you to dinner next time."
Zhang Ying and Li Miao thought the same thing: what good could a boyfriend from high school be? Deyang, no matter how good, can't compare to Beijing. Chu Yu was the top student in Deyang; even if her boyfriend's grades were good, they couldn't surpass hers, so it wasn't surprising. They both felt it was a real shame that such a beautiful girl had settled down so early.
The courses in the Computer Science Department at Tsinghua University are not easy, but fortunately, Chu Yu's English is good and she can understand a lot of foreign literature, so the classes are relatively easy.
In the past few days, Dai Donglin took Chu Xiang and Shen Zhuyu sightseeing. The two climbed the Great Wall, went to the Forbidden City, and visited various parks and museums. They took photos at each attraction and showed them to Chu Yu like treasures.
Chu Yu had no classes in the afternoon and planned to go out with Shen Zhuyu to check out the clothing market in Beijing.
Beijing is located in the north, and its residents tend to prefer practical and stylish clothing. Winters in Beijing are quite cold, and not all areas have central heating, so winter clothing in Beijing is bound to sell better than in Deyang, as there is a higher demand for warmth.
Chu Yu settled on fur coats and down jackets; nothing on the market could provide better warmth. People in Beijing are generally low-key, so fur coats might not sell as well as down jackets. A black down jacket is inconspicuous, warm and practical no matter how you wear it, and with a hat and scarf to cover your face, it would be considered fashionable in the north.
“I heard that the most bustling street in Beijing is Wangjing Street. There are many brands there, and the rent is incredibly high. A year's rent there is enough to buy a house in Deyang,” Shen Zhuyu said.
