"What is the Cao family doing?"
Dai Donglin scoffed. How dare Cao Xueying slander him? Not to brag, but Dai Donglin had never been attracted to any woman in his life.
The only exception was Chu Yu.
He wouldn't even consider Cao Xueying, who's so attractive, worth his money. She thinks she can just take advantage of him and then manipulate him? She's dreaming.
A vat of spicy pickled vegetable water is a small punishment, hoping she will behave herself. If there is a next time, or if she dares to cause trouble for Chu Yu again, Dai Donglin will not let the Cao family off the hook.
When Chu Yu returned home, Dai Donglin was standing in the kitchen, trying his best to impress her.
Shu Hui had just bought a fish to treat him, but unfortunately the fish was lively and large, and killing and scaling it was no easy task. Shu Hui was splashed with water by the fish's tail and almost gave up.
"Auntie, let me do it."
Shu Hui was a little surprised. Judging from Dai Donglin's appearance, she knew he was a pampered young master who had everything done for him.
"You can even kill fish?"
“It’s not a big problem. I’ve steamed sea bass for Chu Yu before. It’s just that I haven’t cooked in a long time, so I’m a bit rusty. If there’s anything I did wrong, just let me know.” As Dai Donglin spoke, he deftly picked up the fish. The fish’s tail thrashed wildly, but his knife skills were swift and precise. With a few quick cuts, he cleaned the fish up quickly.
Shu Hui became more and more satisfied. She thought that since Chu Yu was with Dai Donglin, she would definitely have to take care of him. But unexpectedly, it was Dai Donglin who was taking care of Chu Yu.
Shu Hui praised Dai Donglin a few times, and the more she praised him, the more excited he became. He even showed off his skills and insisted on cooking himself.
This was the scene that Chu Yu saw when she entered.
Dai Donglin is tall and has a strong presence; with him around, the kitchen seems particularly small.
Shu Hui was a head shorter than him, and she stood next to him, helping him out, praising Dai Donglin as she watched him cook.
Chu Yu laughed and crossed her arms, teasingly saying, "Mom, you've forgotten about your daughter now that you have a son-in-law. Why don't you talk to me so gently anymore?"
Shu Hui glared at her and said with amusement, "What nonsense are you talking about, child? When has Mom ever been unkind to you? Donglin, Chu Yu is back. You two go inside and watch TV. Auntie knows you love braised pork hock, so Auntie will show you how to make it."
Dai Donglin grinned, revealing a row of white teeth.
"Thank you, Auntie."
