Tao Wenwen returned home carrying an empty basket. Wang Xiaomin and Shi Qingyuan were not at home at the moment. They must have been busy going to the Civil Affairs Bureau to get their marriage certificate.
"Gao Yue." she called out.
There was also silence in the room upstairs.
Tao Wenwen frowned suddenly, dropped the basket, and rushed into the room on the second floor like an arrow.
There was no trace of Gao Yue on the bed, only the sound of running water coming from the bathroom.
She rushed in without thinking, and the first thing she saw was Gao Yue standing in front of the toilet and peeing.
Gao Yue had his back to her and heard Tao Wenwen walk in.
His figure paused noticeably, and he shouted impatiently, "Don't come over here!"
Seeing that Gao Yue was safe and sound, Tao Wenwen secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
She didn't notice this change in mood from tense to relaxed at all.
Tao Wenwen retracted her foot and stood at the bathroom door. Looking at Gao Yue's stiff back, she kindly asked, "Are you okay?"
You can't ask if it's okay in front of a man. This is a matter of dignity and masculinity.
Tao Wenwen's words immediately touched Gao Yue's heart.
"I can do it!" Gao Yue immediately responded, and with a tug at his pants, he ended this embarrassing trip to the toilet.
He fumbled and washed his hands again before groping his way out of the bathroom.
Tao Wenwen was still standing at the door, and Gao Yue's hand touched her body directly, as if he touched a place he shouldn't touch, and it felt soft.
He suddenly retracted his hand, his ears slightly red, but he deliberately said with a stern face: "Get out of the way!"
"I came back with good intentions to see if you were safe. What's with your attitude?" Tao Wenwen was unhappy and didn't understand why Gao Yue was inexplicably angry again.
She snorted, "If I had known you had such a bad temper, I should have handed you over to those people directly instead of rushing back to inform you!"
Gao Yue finally groped his way to the bed and was about to climb onto it when he was stunned when he heard Tao Wenwen's words.
"They finally found me." He muttered, turned his head to identify Tao Wenwen's direction, and asked, "How many people are here?"
Tao Wenwen said, "Five of them, all of them are tall and strong, and they look ferocious and murderous, the kind that would kill without blinking an eye."
Anyone who is sent out to kill people must be ruthless and capable.
Gao Yue thought about his current situation of being injured and blind, and said the reality very calmly, "I can't beat them."
Tao Wenwen was in a hurry to come back because he was worried that he would be found, and certainly not to let Gao Yue deal with them.
She looked at Gao Yue, who was sitting beside the bed, speechlessly and said, "What are you thinking? With your body, you still want to fight with them? You're almost going to die."
Tao Wenwen denied him again.
Gao Yue frowned deeply.
He suppressed the knot in his heart and said, "If they can find this place, they must have found some clues. They won't give up easily if they don't find me."
After a moment of silence, Gao Yue said again: "Take me away from here and find a place with a phone."
Tao Wenwen chuckled and immediately became happy.
She said, "This is a rural area, so shabby, where would we get a phone? You're overthinking it. If you want to make a phone call, you can only get one in the county town, at least on an old crank phone. You have to wait in line for ages, and you might not even get through!"
Tao Wenwen remembered the original owner following his father to the county town to make a phone call. After waiting in line for three hours, it was finally his turn. He cranked the old handle of the phone for a long time but the other party didn't hear any sound. His father shouted until his voice was hoarse. Finally, the other party hung up the phone. Tao's father could only send a telegram in shame.
After getting familiar with the high technology of the future and thinking about the things of this era, Tao Wenwen also found them interesting and novel.
"Telephones are for rich people. We're so shabby here, forget it." She said, "How about I send you a telegram? It's five cents a word, but since we know each other, I'll give you a discount and charge you ten cents a word."
