Just as Su Yiqing was leaving the company, she received a WeChat message from Li Moer.
It was a location, and he drove his car toward the location.
When he arrived at the apartment entrance, he frowned slightly. Wasn't it supposed to be a birthday celebration for someone in the Li family?
What did Li Mo'er want him to do here?
He raised his hand to knock on the door, but found it was ajar and the inside was pitch black.
His heart skipped a beat. Had something happened to Li Mo'er?
Without thinking twice, he gripped his phone tightly and carefully pushed open the door.
The room was completely silent in the darkness. As he turned on his phone's flashlight, he heard the soft sound of the door closing behind him.
With a sharp turn, before he could even see anyone, a candlelight was lit.
Su Yiqing subconsciously looked over and saw Li Moer sitting at the dining table in a red dress. Her neat and capable short hair was accentuated by diamond earrings, giving her a more feminine look.
Seeing him look over, Li Mo'er winked at him, her big, bright eyes shimmering in the candlelight.
For a moment, Su Yiqing felt a dry mouth, but her face remained calm and indifferent.
He frowned and walked over to Li Mo'er. "If you have any requests for me, just say so."
The forced gentle smile on Li Mo'er's face instantly crumbled. Her brother was so unreliable; what a terrible idea he gave!
She was laughing so hard her face was almost frozen, and Su Yiqing thought she needed his help!
It was all for nothing that she spent an entire afternoon preparing a candlelight dinner, painstakingly cooking Western food herself, and almost blew up the kitchen.
She rubbed her stiff cheeks from laughing without any regard for her image, reverting to her usual tomboyish demeanor. "I don't need anything from you, I'm just celebrating moving out and want to treat you to a meal!"
Su Yiqing's gaze swept over the meticulously arranged dining table. Although she didn't speak, her questioning was all too clear.
Li Mo'er scratched her short hair awkwardly. "Okay, okay, I'll just say it directly. I think it's been pretty good pretending to be your boyfriend all this time, so on this auspicious day of my housewarming, I'm letting you know that from now on you're my man, Li Mo'er's man, and it's not just pretending anymore!"
Although Li Mo'er spoke with great confidence, the furtive glances she gave Su Yiqing revealed her guilty conscience.
They say it's like climbing a mountain for a man to pursue a woman, but piercing a thin veil for a woman to pursue a man. If Su Yiqing rejects her, it will be awkward...
Su Yiqing's expression remained unchanged, only a strange light flashed in her pupils.
After a long silence, he suddenly strode over to the dining table.
Li Mo'er's heart leaped into her throat like a deer's.
She was even considering whether she should close her eyes if Su Yiqing were to kiss her.
But Su Yiqing simply pulled out the chair opposite her, sat down, and asked in her bewildered gaze, "Weren't you going to treat me to dinner? Where's the food?"
"Oh!" Li Mo'er was stunned for a moment, then came to her senses, quickly turned around and went into the kitchen, and came out carrying two Western-style plates.
Su Yiqing looked at the dark, mushy steak and the pasta that had turned into a lump, her expression somewhat subtle. "Are you sure this is edible?"
Li Mo'er said awkwardly but politely, "Just make do with this!"
Su Yiqing's eyelids twitched, but she still elegantly and calmly began to cut the steak.
Li Mo'er also cut a piece of steak and put it in her mouth. After the beef was mushy, a bitter taste spread in her mouth.
Her eyes suddenly felt a little sore, and she felt like crying.
Su Yiqing didn't answer her, which meant she was rejecting her.
I guess I didn't say it directly just to save face for her!
"Do you want a drink?" she asked Su Yiqing, trying to remain calm. The shy look on her face had vanished, replaced by a disappointment she was trying to hide.
"Drink." Su Yiqing looked at her expression, feeling a slight pain in her heart, and uttered a single word succinctly.
Li Mo'er picked up the red wine that she had already decanted on the table, poured herself a glass, and poured another glass for Su Yiqing. She raised her glass and said, "Cheers!"
After saying that, she drank it all in one gulp without giving Su Yiqing a chance to stop her.
He then poured himself another full glass, raised it to Su Yiqing, and drank it all in one gulp.
Soon, two rosy blushes appeared on her face due to the alcohol.
The candlelight and her red dress accentuated her allure.
Her slender, white fingers, as white as scallions, swirled the red liquid in the glass.
With his eyes glazed over from drunkenness, he looked at Su Yiqing and asked, "You can't be my man, but you can still pretend to be my boyfriend, right?"
Before Su Yiqing could answer, she slammed her hand on the table, stood up, and glared fiercely at Su Yiqing, saying, "You promised Xiaotuanzi you would help me. You can't go back on your word!"
Su Yiqing looked at her, her eyes darkening slightly. After a moment of silence, she replied, "Okay!"
"Hehe!" Li Mo'er laughed drunkenly, but after laughing, her eyes reddened, and she clenched her fist and punched Su Yiqing. "Su Yiqing, you bastard, what do I have that makes me unworthy of you, and you actually rejected me?"
Su Yiqing held her fist, the warmth spreading from his palm to his heart. His eyes darkened again, but he only frowned and said, "You're drunk!"
"I'm not drunk!" Li Mo'er shouted stubbornly and obstinately, "Su Yiqing, tell me, did you reject me because you like gentle and delicate girls?"
“No.” Su Yiqing blurted out.
"That's for...?"
Li Mo'er's watery eyes became even more hazy, and she collapsed drunk before she could finish speaking.
Su Yiqing swiftly caught her in his arms, looking at her peaceful and sweet sleeping face. His usually cold voice softened into a clear spring, "Because, I am not good enough for you."
