Chapter 253 Attitude Shift
Seeing that they were so sensible, Jiang Ran's eyes narrowed slightly, and she turned and left indifferently.
Until Jiang Ran's figure disappeared from sight, the kidnappers looked at each other, and they all saw fear and apprehension in each other's eyes.
The scene just now, with its ghostly figures and bizarre atmosphere, was something I had never heard of or seen before. If they hadn't been so sensible, they would probably have gone insane by now.
I still feel a lingering fear when I think about it now.
They were all gangsters, scalping and robbing, taking money to solve problems, their actions ruthless and violent, never questioning right or wrong. Yet, they never expected to be so terrified and driven to desperation by a woman.
The lead kidnapper's lips were tightly pressed together, his face grim. One of his henchmen stepped forward at the opportune moment and asked in a low voice, "Boss, what should we do now?"
Upon hearing this, the kidnapper's eyes suddenly sharpened, and he glanced at him coldly, scoffing, "What else can we do? Didn't you hear what that person said when they left?!"
Upon hearing this, a look of panic flashed across the subordinate's face. He responded repeatedly but dared not ask any more questions.
After all, Jiang Ran is now no different from a demon in their eyes...
While everyone else was filled with anxiety, Jiang Ran drove back to the villa and ran into Si Youlin right outside the courtyard.
Jiang Ran nodded slightly to him as a gesture of acknowledgment.
Si Youlin keenly noticed her low spirits and pale face. A hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, and he quickly asked, "What's wrong?"
His tone subtly revealed a hint of concern.
Upon hearing this, Jiang Ran's eyes flickered slightly, a complex emotion stirring within her. She pursed her lips, slowly shook her head, and denied it, saying, "It's nothing."
He clearly didn't want to say more.
Seeing this, Si Youlin raised an eyebrow, his surprise deepening. He then slowly walked to Jiang Ran's side and sighed softly, "Is it because of that woman again?"
Upon hearing his guess, Jiang Ran instantly recalled the scene of Si Yanxiao leaving with Bai Zhuwei because he was worried about her.
Standing there, he felt as if she were the superfluous one.
His expression suddenly hardened, but he did not utter a word in defense.
Seeing that she acquiesced, Si Youlin pursed his lips slightly, hesitated for a moment, and then slowly comforted her, "It's okay, don't overthink it. No matter how much that woman tries to cause trouble, she will never have a chance to enter the Si family."
"Grandpa and our side of the family will not allow a woman like that to exist..."
Si Youlin spoke up to express his attitude, and Jiang Ran felt a surge of warmth in her heart upon hearing it.
Before she could speak, Si Youlin continued, "Even if Father indulges her, it won't help. Can a relationship without status really last?"
Jiang Ran was surprised to see Si Youlin analyzing the future with such reason and evidence. She was astonished that he could see things so clearly and even resonate with the thoughts of adults.
Then, he lowered his eyes slightly, his brows furrowed, and stared blankly at a certain spot. After hesitating for a moment, he finally spoke in a deep voice.
"Don't worry, I'm not sad, I'm just having some trouble figuring things out."
As she spoke, she reached out and gently stroked Si Youlin's head, then whispered, "I'm tired, I want to rest for a bit."
Seeing her dejected expression, Si Youlin stopped himself from saying anything comforting and could only softly reply, "Okay."
Jiang Ran's lips curled slightly, a smile playing on her lips, before she turned and walked upstairs.
Si Youlin looked up and stared blankly at her back, feeling a faint sense of loneliness in her figure, and a strange feeling flashed through his heart.
Just as he was feeling somewhat lost, a thought flashed through his mind, and Si Youlin's eyes lit up. He walked straight towards the door.
After returning to her room, Jiang Ran felt utterly exhausted. She immediately sat down on the edge of the bed, crossed her legs, focused her mind and energy, and performed the Zi-Wu Mudra.
With each breath, both relaxed and exhaled, spiritual energy flows through the limbs and bones, passing through the meridians and finally settling in the dantian.
After an unknown amount of time, Jiang Ran finally felt a sense of comfort around her body.
Just then, a sudden knocking sound rang out at the door, abruptly interrupting her cultivation.
Jiang Ran exhaled a breath of stale air, gathered her spiritual energy into her body, and then slowly opened her eyes. She stood up and said, "Come in!"
Jiang Yuechen pushed open the door and entered. Upon seeing the person who came in, Jiang Ran raised her eyebrows slightly, a look of surprise flashing across her face.
She exclaimed in surprise, "Brother? What brings you here?"
Jiang Yuechen pursed his lips slightly, pushed the wheelchair slowly closer, closed the door behind him, and explained softly, "Ah Lin noticed that you were in a bad mood, so she specifically asked me to come and check on you."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Ran looked surprised, not expecting Si Youlin to have such a considerate side. She then smiled slightly and chuckled.
Jiang Yuechen then spoke up, saying, "It's quite touching that he put his heart into it."
"Mm." Jiang Ran nodded slightly and slowly replied.
Jiang Yuechen also noticed her troubled expression. His eyes narrowed slightly, and he asked in a deep voice, "Have you and Si Yanxiao had another disagreement?"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Ran's lips curled slightly, and she suddenly said with a self-deprecating laugh, "Weren't we always mutually disgusted with each other?"
Jiang Yuechen sensed the coldness in her tone, his lips pursed slightly, and he said with an unfriendly expression, "I've heard Ah Lin mention those things more or less, but I didn't expect so many things to happen while I was away..."
"If it weren't for the fact that we escaped unharmed, I would have definitely gone to Si Yanxiao to demand an explanation!"
As he spoke, his tone was full of indignation. The person he cherished had been framed by that woman, and Si Yanxiao had failed to recognize his true character. How could he not be angry?
Seeing the anger on his face, Jiang Ran knew that he was standing up for her. A strange emotion flashed through her heart, and she felt her chest instantly filled with warmth.
My previously gloomy mood instantly brightened.
Meanwhile, on the other side, Si Yanxiao and Bai Zhuwei looked at each other on the rooftop, but a sudden feeling of irritation rose in their hearts.
After Bai Zhuwei left in a fit of rage, she went straight to the rooftop, threatening to jump off to prove her innocence.
Si Yanxiao looked down at her, his brows furrowing slightly. He felt she was making a mountain out of a molehill, but he suppressed his displeasure and spoke in a low voice to comfort her. He finally managed to dissuade her from taking her own life, but Bai Zhuwei still looked aggrieved and vehemently accused Jiang Ran of all her faults.
"This must be Jiang Ran slandering me! How could I possibly orchestrate such a thing?"
As she spoke, she paused slightly, raised her eyes to look at Si Yanxiao seriously, and then continued, "Ayan, you're on my side, aren't you?"
Si Yanxiao understood her unspoken meaning; she clearly wanted him to take sides. His eyes suddenly sharpened, and a hint of displeasure flashed in his heart.
He had always maintained a thorough investigation attitude towards this matter, and even when the kidnappers accused Jiang Ran of being the mastermind, he was determined to find out the truth.
But now that this situation has suddenly arisen, Si Yanxiao pursed his lips slightly, and a hint of hesitation flashed through his mind.
Looking at Bai Zhuwei with scrutiny in his eyes, and seeing that she was still accusing Jiang Ran incessantly, Si Yanxiao's face darkened, and he said in a cold voice, "When the kidnappers accused Jiang Ran, her emotions were not so obvious."
Upon hearing this, Bai Zhuwei understood the implication in Si Yanxiao's words, and her expression darkened, instantly becoming somewhat unpleasant.
Then, turning to Si Yanxiao, she coldly questioned, "What do you mean by that? Are you doubting me?"
A hint of coldness flashed in Si Yanxiao's eyes, and a sinister look suddenly appeared in his eyes as he looked at her. He pursed his lips slightly, but still replied in a deep voice, "No."
However, Bai Zhuwei keenly sensed the stiffness in his tone, and a wave of displeasure rose in her heart.
"Isn't your attitude just a clear indication that I have a guilty conscience? If you trust her so much, why did you come to me in the first place?!"
Bai Zhuwei pursed her lips, her voice tinged with a hint of a sob.
When Si Yanxiao saw her like this, he realized that she was exactly the same as she was six years ago, and her voice would involuntarily choke up when they were arguing.
He used to always be the first to offer comfort, but now, for some reason, he feels inexplicably annoyed.
Si Yanxiao noticed the change in his emotions and couldn't help but sigh inwardly.
He then lowered his eyes to look at Bai Zhuwei, a cold glint flashing across his face, and said in a slightly somber tone, "Don't make wild guesses. I'm just stating the facts."
“This matter is now very complicated, and it doesn’t just involve her. You must have heard what the kidnappers said today very clearly. Once it’s investigated, it will be extremely difficult to handle.”
