Chapter 254 Getting Drunk

Chapter 254 Getting Drunk

"Let's leave it at that."

He paused slightly, hesitated for a moment, and then continued, "Continuing the investigation will not be good for anyone!"

Although Si Yanxiao spoke cryptically, Bai Zhuwei still understood his implied meaning.

He was giving her an unspoken warning. Thinking of this, Bai Zhuwei felt a sudden panic, but it was only for a moment before she returned to normal.

Then she looked up at Si Yanxiao, her face full of confusion, and stubbornly said, "What do you mean by that? I have made it very clear that the kidnappers changed their story today because Jiang Ran framed me!"

Why won't you believe me?

Listening to Bai Zhuwei's accusations, Si Yanxiao lowered his eyes slightly, a hint of annoyance flashing across his face.

Although he favored Bai Zhuwei, he wasn't blindly protective; he could still tell right from wrong.

Moreover, the kidnappers' strange behavior today suggested they had seen something terrifying, yet everything seemed normal and there was nothing there in front of them.

It was clearly Jiang Ran who was behind it all. When people are in a state of extreme fear, they often blurt out the truth without thinking.

Although he was reluctant to admit it, what the kidnappers said today had aroused his suspicions.

I'm afraid this matter is indeed inextricably linked to Bai Zhuwei...

Thinking of this, Si Yanxiao's face suddenly hardened, and an ambiguous expression appeared in his eyes as he looked at Bai Zhuwei.

Fu then continued, "Your constant fighting with Jiang Ran can't go on like this."

"What happened back then was my fault. It was really inappropriate to elope with you without my consent. I didn't think things through and that led to the big mistake later."

“I will do everything I can to make it up to you, but Jiang Ran… is different.”

Upon hearing this, Bai Zhuwei's expression turned cold, and she questioned in a deep voice, "How is she different? Ayan, what do you mean by that?"

Seeing his furrowed brows and slightly pursed lips, Si Yanxiao hesitated for a moment before speaking in a cold voice, "Now that I have married her, I should be responsible for her both morally and logically."

"But...but you don't have any feelings for her, do you?" Bai Zhuwei lowered her brows slightly and quickly asked.

Si Yanxiao pursed his lips slightly; Bai Zhuwei's words were like a thunderclap exploding in his heart.

Something seemed to flash through my mind, but it was gone in an instant before I could even react.

Seeing Si Yanxiao lower his eyes and remain silent, Bai Zhuwei felt a chill rise in her heart. She vaguely sensed the change in Si Yanxiao's attitude, and her eyes suddenly sharpened.

He used to scoff at the mention of Jiang Ran, but now he's actually speaking up for her!

Thinking of this, Bai Zhuwei lowered her brows slightly, her face showing sadness: "Then what about me? What am I anyway?!"

After saying that, his gaze darkened, and he turned and ran downstairs.

Si Yanxiao was about to speak to dissuade him, but hesitated for a moment and then lowered his raised hand.

He looked up at Bai Zhuwei's departing figure, his expression unreadable.

He never expected things to develop this way. The kidnappers suddenly changed their story and pointed the finger at Bai Zhuwei, making the already complicated situation even more difficult.

Those words, however, seemed to be a constant reminder, having already taken root and sprouted in my heart...

On the other side, Bai Zhuwei ran away crying, aimlessly not knowing where to go.

The bodyguard was waiting downstairs. When he saw her come down alone, a look of doubt flashed across his face, but he still followed closely behind her.

Bai Zhuwei walked along the roadside, feeling as if Si Yanxiao's words had pierced her heart like a sharp blade.

Remembering that he spoke up for Jiang Ran, she felt her resentment deepen.

Then she turned to look at the bodyguard behind her, her eyes narrowing slightly, and said in a cold voice, "Take me to Nightfall."

"Nightfall?" A look of surprise flashed across the bodyguard's face. He exchanged glances with the person beside him, a hint of hesitation crossing his face.

Nightclub is a notorious den of iniquity, considered a high-end nightclub, and is generally a place where wealthy young people go to spend their time.

But Bai Zhuwei's identity is extraordinary; President Si specifically instructed them to protect her at all times, and now they're going to a place like this...

Bai Zhuwei noticed their hesitation, her brow furrowed, and she snapped, "What? Does my word no longer matter to me?"

Seeing her anger, the bodyguard was startled and quickly replied, "No, it won't happen."

Then he slightly waved to the person behind him, who immediately understood and walked in the opposite direction.

Seeing Bai Zhuwei's displeasure, the bodyguard quickly explained, "Please wait here for a moment while he goes to the garage to get the car."

Upon hearing this, Bai Zhuwei's expression softened slightly.

As dusk fell and night fell, the neon lights of the brightly lit place began to flash, and the waiters quickly stepped forward to invite us inside.

Bai Zhuwei walked slowly closer, and passersby looked at her with a strange gaze when they saw her bodyguards following behind her.

Bai Zhuwei felt the scrutinizing gaze directed at her from the person beside her, her brow furrowed slightly, and a hint of displeasure flashed across her face.

Then he turned to the bodyguards and said coldly, "What are you doing getting in my way? Get away from me!"

Upon hearing this, the bodyguard lowered his brow slightly and responded in a low voice.

Then he walked to the side and saw Bai Zhuwei sit down at the bar before turning his gaze away.

A gossipy person nearby couldn't help but complain, "If I had known I was going to have to protect this troublesome woman, I would have just let myself stay by President Si's side."

Hearing his resentment, the head bodyguard's eyes narrowed slightly, and he whispered a reprimand: "Watch your mouth! Just do what the boss tells us to do."

Hearing his reprimand, the man curled his lip and sneered.

Groups of men and women strolled through the nightclub, swaying their bodies in the dim light, while deafening DJ music echoed from the dance floor.

Bai Zhuwei felt the confusing atmosphere around her, and a strange restlessness welled up in her heart.

His gaze was fixed on one spot, as if everything that had happened today was still vivid in his mind. The kidnappers' accusations were still echoing in his ears, as was Si Yanxiao's sudden change in attitude towards him.

As one incident after another piled up, Bai Zhuwei's eyes gradually darkened, a fierce glint flashed across her face, and her heart was filled with resentment.

His hatred for Jiang Ran and the injustice he felt towards Si Yanxiao were intertwined, and a surge of anger welled up in his heart.

She had been relying on Si Yanxiao's unconditional indulgence, but she never expected that he would choose not to trust her at this crucial moment.

Although he didn't say it explicitly, he implicitly expressed his attitude, even going so far as to subtly warn himself for the sake of that woman.

Si Yanxiao's words still seemed to echo in his ears, constantly reminding him of his foolishness!

Thinking of this, Bai Zhuwei suddenly let out a self-deprecating laugh. It felt as if a hand was tightly gripping her heart, causing unbearable pain, yet she had no way to vent it, so she could only forcefully suppress the turbulent emotions in her heart.

Bai Zhuwei closed her eyes, took a deep breath to force back the tears that were welling up in her eyes, and when she opened them again, a sinister look appeared in her eyes and her eyes were red.

He slightly raised his hand in a gesture: "Another glass of whiskey, please."

"Okay," the bartender replied in a low voice, then mixed a drink for her and handed it to her.

Bai Zhuwei reached out and took the drink, preparing to down it in one gulp, when suddenly someone stopped her. Then a whisper came to her ear: "Miss, why are you drinking alone?"

Upon hearing this, Bai Zhuwei paused slightly and turned around. What came into view was a scholarly-looking man who was looking at her with a smile in his eyes.

Bai Zhuwei, who was surrounded by countless people, could tell at a glance that the man in front of her had ulterior motives. Her eyes narrowed slightly, and a look of disgust flashed across her face. She sneered coldly, "Get out of my way!"

Lu Ziyi originally just wanted to have some fun at the nightclub, but he didn't expect to run into a woman alone who was also very attractive. She was drinking one glass of whiskey after another, clearly looking like she was going to drown her sorrows in alcohol.

He then stepped forward, and seeing her cold tone, Lu Ziyi didn't seem to care at all. He smiled slightly and replied softly, "What's the point of drinking alone? You need someone to accompany you to enjoy yourself."

Then he gestured to the bartender, ordered a whiskey, clinked glasses with Bai Zhuwei, and raised his eyebrows slightly.

Bai Zhuwei looked up at him, a cold smile appearing on her lips, but she drank it all in one gulp.

After several drinks, Bai Zhuwei felt the effects of the alcohol, her face flushed, and her speech became somewhat slurred.

Seeing this, a smug glint flashed in Lu Ziyi's eyes, and he slightly curled his lips, feigning a question: "Are you drunk?"

Then he slowly stood up, his hand intentionally or unintentionally resting lightly on Bai Zhuwei's waist. Feeling the touch of others, Bai Zhuwei's mind instantly cleared up a bit.
