Chapter 159 High Fever

Chapter 159 High Fever

Upon seeing this, Si Youlin's face flashed with panic, and he quickly went to find Jiang Ran to seek her help.

Jiang Ran looked surprised when she saw Si Youlin return: "Weren't you going to take care of him?"

A flicker of anxiety crossed Si Youlin's eyes, and he quickly said, "Daddy has a high fever and has fallen into a coma. He's also a little confused, and he doesn't respond when I call him."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Ran's expression changed slightly, and she was startled: "Wasn't everything fine just now?"

As she spoke, she hurried upstairs, with Si Youlin following closely behind. Upon arriving at the room, Jiang Ran saw that Si Yanxiao's symptoms were exactly as Si Youlin had described. She frowned slightly, realizing that the persistent high fever was likely caused by inflammation from the untreated whip wounds.

Si Youlin, standing anxiously to the side, asked, "How is the situation? Do we need to take him to the hospital?"

"No need," Jiang Ran said softly, then used an excuse to send Si Youlin away: "Go downstairs and ask the housekeeper for fever reducers and ice packs. I'll give him acupuncture first."

"Okay," Si Youlin replied in unison, then turned and left.

Seeing that he had closed the door, Jiang Ran reached out and gently touched Si Yanxiao's forehead, taking the opportunity to probe into his body. She felt the spiritual energy surging around him, which was very chaotic.

Seeing this, Jiang Ran gently twisted the silver needle, infused it with her spiritual energy, and skillfully pierced his acupoints.

As the acupuncture treatment progressed, Si Yanxiao's complexion gradually improved, and his body temperature gradually decreased.

Jiang Ran took in all his changes, and while administering acupuncture, she reached out and gently touched him, unconsciously absorbing the spiritual energy within his body.

Then she lowered her eyes to look at Si Yanxiao, pursed her lips slightly, and even though she knew that Si Yanxiao was not in a good enough state to hear, she still said to herself, "It's a win-win situation, you won't lose out."

As soon as he finished speaking, Si Youlin pushed open the door and entered with the medicine. He skillfully applied ice packs to his forehead and armpits. When he touched them, he suddenly felt that the burning fever on his body had subsided considerably.

Startled, he looked at Jiang Ran's silver needles and exclaimed in surprise, "So effective?!"

Jiang Ran lowered her eyes slightly, secretly chuckling to herself. This kind of pathological fever would not be so effectively treated by acupuncture alone. The fact that it worked so quickly was entirely due to the synergistic effect of her spiritual power.

But she couldn't explain these things to him one by one, so she could only avoid answering and just laugh it off.

A quarter of an hour later, Jiang Ran slowly put away the silver needles, looked at Si Youlin beside her, and said, "He still has external injuries. I'll go make some ointment for him now. You take care of him for now."

“Okay.” Si Youlin nodded repeatedly, responding obediently.

Jiang Ran got up and was about to leave when she suddenly remembered something, paused, and asked, "Where's your brother? Why can't I see him?"

“The school is organizing an anniversary celebration recently, and my brother, as the host, has to stay behind every night to rehearse,” Si Youlin explained slowly.

"A host? That's quite unusual..." Upon hearing this, Jiang Ran's face flashed with surprise, quite astonished that Si Zuochen, with his aloof personality, would participate in such a group activity.

Si Youlin understood her implication and quickly said, "This wasn't his choice; the school forced him to participate."

Seeing his eagerness to explain for Si Zuochen, Jiang Ran smiled slightly and replied softly, "Okay, I understand."

As she spoke, she reached out and gently patted Si Youlin's shoulder, saying slowly, "Then I'll trouble you to take care of him now."

Si Youlin's shoulders stiffened, but he didn't flinch as before. He looked up and met Jiang Ran's gaze, nodding very seriously: "Of course!"

Seeing this, Jiang Ran smiled slightly and walked towards the door.

Si Youlin watched her retreating figure, recalling her gentle tone from earlier, and a faint flutter of emotion stirred within him.

Jiang Ran went back to her room to prepare the necessary medicinal materials to make the ointment. She also added a burnt talisman to make the medicine more effective.

When Old Master Si heard the news, he rushed over and saw Jiang Ran carefully applying ointment to Si Yanxiao. A look of guilt flashed across his face before he pushed open the door and entered.

Hearing the noise, Si Youlin turned around and quickly called out, "Grandpa!"

Old Master Si smiled slightly.

As she approached, she saw that Si Yanxiao was still unconscious. Looking at the injuries on his back, a pang of heartache flashed in her eyes.

Seeing this, Jiang Ran gently comforted him, "Don't worry, he's fine now."

"Hmm." Old Master Si nodded slightly and responded in a low voice.

Seeing Jiang Ran put away the ointment, a hint of doubt flashed across his face: "What's this?"

Si Youlin chimed in from the side, "She made this herself, and it's very effective!"

Listening closely, a hint of pride was faintly revealed in his tone. Old Master Si sensed the change in his attitude, his eyes flickered, and a look of surprise flashed across his face.

Then he turned to Jiang Ran and asked in a low voice, "Do you have time now? I'd like to talk to you."

"Okay." Jiang Ran nodded, then turned to look at Si Youlin, raising her chin slightly.

Si Youlin immediately understood and gave an OK sign.

Old Master Si turned and walked out, with Jiang Ran following closely behind. The two went down to the hall, where Old Master Si even dismissed all the servants.

A hint of doubt flashed in Jiang Ran's eyes. She saw that Old Master Si looked up and met her gaze. A look of hesitation appeared on his face.

He looked like he wanted to say something but hesitated, his hand unconsciously tightening around his cane.

Jiang Ran looked down at his subtle movements and took the initiative to ask, "Is there something you need?"

Upon hearing her bring it up, Old Master Si pursed his lips slightly, then sighed softly to himself, a look of guilt appearing on his face. He then said in a deep voice, "I'm sorry."

Jiang Ran listened, her face full of shock and confusion.

Why is he apologizing to me for no reason? Should I accept it or not?

Thinking of this, Jiang Ran frowned slightly and asked, "What's wrong?"

Old Master Si's eyes darkened slightly as he slowly explained, "I apologize to you on behalf of Ayan. It was clearly his despicable act that he has to clean up the mess for you."

Jiang Ran, upon hearing this, knew he was referring to her personal care and the ointment she had prepared herself, and quickly shook her head, saying, "It's nothing, it's nothing." But Old Master Si took it as just polite talk, hesitated slightly, and then continued, "He doesn't know if he's bewitched, but he's still obsessed with that person and hasn't seen the light of day."

"He abandoned the entire Si family to elope with her before, and now he's putting everything aside to find her..."

Upon hearing this, Jiang Ran felt a strange emotion stirring within her. She had originally thought that she should take this opportunity to absorb the spiritual energy within him.

But now, after hearing what the old man said, I suddenly felt like a third party who had interfered and blocked the relationship between two people who originally loved each other.

Feeling a little hurt, she quickly said something to indicate that she didn't care.

Seeing her considerate demeanor, Old Master Si felt even more guilty, and his eyes were filled with reluctance as he looked at Jiang Ran.

Jiang Ran noticed that he was walking unsteadily, so she quickly helped him to the side and asked, "Are you alright?"

Grandpa Si waved his hand and slowly shook his head.

Jiang Ran lowered her gaze slightly and quickly said, "I'm not at ease with you like this. How about we take your pulse to confirm?"

Grandpa Si didn't reply. Jiang Ran simply pulled his wrist over, her fingers lightly touching his wrist. She noticed a strong throbbing at the acupoint and instantly felt relieved.

She gently reassured him, "Everything is normal, nothing's wrong."

Grandpa Si nodded slightly. Jiang Ran pursed her lips and asked casually, "I saw Si Yanxiao looking for that person recently. How come it's different from what I heard before?"

"Didn't that woman die in a car accident back then?"

Upon hearing this, a strange expression flashed across Old Master Si's face. Seeing Jiang Ran's puzzled expression, he sighed softly, "I was just as shocked as you about this matter. I saw it with my own eyes six years ago; Bai Zhuwei was indeed dead."

"The doctor himself said that the rescue was unsuccessful. Although I was not involved in the whole process of going down into the tomb, it was a done deal at the time. Who knew that such a reversal would occur?"

Listening to Old Master Si's explanation, Jiang Ran looked up and took in his expression. He was serious and his words were full of certainty, showing no sign of lying.

Upon hearing this, a hint of doubt flashed through Jiang Ran's mind.

He and Si Yanxiao each have their own version of events. If neither of them is lying, then where exactly does the problem lie?

Thinking of this, Jiang Ran was filled with doubt, but showed no sign of it on her face.
