Chapter 605 Frustration

I just didn't expect that I couldn't avoid it in the end.

After walking two or three miles, Jian Dan first went into her spatial dimension to warm herself up, then had a good meal before coming out.

"Phew, the air here is so much better."

This is the environment she likes, and it's not easy to come here openly. It's just that this season leaves her with little opportunity to use her skills. There are no green plants around, so all she can do is hunt.

However, Jian Dan wasn't disappointed, since it was also her hobby, and she naturally wouldn't let this rare opportunity slip by.

No one knows how the wolf knew they had reached their destination, because it stopped howling intimidatingly. The animals in the vicinity finally dared to slowly peek out, which was perfect for Jian Dan.

Leaving aside the small pheasants, she wouldn't let go of any wild boars, wild goats, wild cattle, red deer, roe deer, or hazel grouse that she encountered while they were out for a stroll. She even let go of some badgers and foxes because she thought there wasn't enough meat.

Of course, she also encountered several groups of mountain tyrants, tigers, bears, and wolves, but she was happy to keep quiet and didn't want to cause any more trouble, so she hid very quickly.

She was having more and more fun, while Lin Zhengde was experiencing the opposite, with the atmosphere becoming increasingly tense.

"Commander, how about you assign us some tasks first?"

They just stood there, looking so dry and lifeless, and they were scared too!

Lin Zhengde let out a deep breath, deciding to have his men take cover first. He then returned to the ravine, staring blankly at the clearing below, his aura growing increasingly cold.

Jian Dan was having a great time, and she was lucky enough to encounter a bear and a tiger fighting for some unknown reason. Unfortunately, when she arrived, both were badly injured.

Jian Dan was happily picking up the bargains with a smile, and was just about to put the two big guys away when he suddenly heard a loud bang. The tremor was so strong that the two big guys on the ground shook.

I felt like the whole forest was shaking.

Having steadied herself, Jian Dan turned back to look in the direction from which the sound had come. Was that the direction they had come from?

She has no sense of direction when she's out in the world, but strangely enough, in this deep mountain where every tree looks the same, she can miraculously distinguish between east, west, south, and north, and almost every distinctive location.

Upon hearing that sound, Jian Dan immediately sensed something was wrong.

"Holy crap! Could something really have happened?"

He waved his hand to collect the things, and also picked up the prey he had just hunted and the trees that they had destroyed and broken. He could take them back and use them as firewood, couldn't he?

Then, he lifted his leg and ran back.

I kept thinking to myself, "Please, please, nothing bad should happen."

Lin Zhengde looked at the devastated open space left by the explosion, his face gloomy. He was just a little bit closer, a little earlier, and he could have cornered those people. He was just one step away from catching them like turtles in a jar. He was so angry that he slammed his fist on the tree trunk next to him.

He sprinted back, but remained vigilant.

When they had run about halfway, they sensed the presence of living people ahead, heading in a different direction.

After a pause, Jian Dan glanced in the direction Lin Zhengde and the others were heading, but decided to change direction and follow them to take a look. This was deep in the mountains, and it was already an accident that one group of them had come in. How could they possibly run into another group?

It's obvious that, apart from regular troops like them, who else could be going into the deep mountains at this time?

She was fast and quickly caught up with another small group of people.

There weren't many people, just four, dressed similarly to the villagers. The two leading the way had bulging arms, clearly indicating they were skilled in martial arts. The other two hid behind them, following closely, and occasionally looking back.

It's obvious that he's scared.

"Brother, what do we do with those people? They're surrounded by soldiers, when can we get them out?"

One of the two trained fighters turned around and said in a gruff voice,

"How come I didn't know you had such a kind heart?"

"You still have the leisure to worry about others?"

The other one looked around warily, then turned back to explain.

"Alright, do you still want that?"

Don't worry, they won't be able to hold out for long. This is deep in the mountains, and those people are having a hard time even protecting themselves. Once they can't find anything, they'll have to leave.

Moreover, the entrance and exit are so well hidden; they wouldn't be able to find them without us leading them.”

"That's true, who would have thought that the entrance to that tunnel could be placed in a rat hole under that wall?"

"Those things are a bit of a waste; we'll have to bring them back in."

"Shut up!

Can you just say things like that? Aren't you afraid of being overheard?

However, Lao Li and the others have been gone for several days and there's still no news. I'm not at ease. I keep feeling like something's not quite right.

Big brother, I hope nothing bad has happened.

Do you believe they could have gotten here without someone leading them?

The martial arts expert in front had clearly considered this, and upon hearing his words, his expression darkened, and he frowned as he looked towards the woods ahead.

"Alright, we know what we're doing."

Old Li is a cautious and loyal man. Logically speaking, even if he were caught, given his personality, he shouldn't confess so easily.

The person next to him scoffed.

"Brother, you have a good idea, but don't forget who's with Lao Li?"

"Oh my god, brother, it's that scoundrel Old Wu. With him around, what can he possibly keep secret?"

"Grass!"

He listened attentively, offering no further useful information, and then leaped forward, slashing at the two fighters in front of him. The older brother reacted quickly, immediately extending his arm to defend himself.
