Chapter 935 Reflections on Catching Rabbits, A Couple's Dilemma

The couple paused their conversation, went over to take a look, and without caring whether it was true or not, they blocked the entrance to the hole according to the little one's suggestion.

After eating and drinking their fill, the little one's energy was waning, so Jian Dan stopped teasing her and quickly led her to the last cave entrance. They discussed with her which one to block and which entrance to light the fire at. Since the little one was the main character today, the adults didn't try to take over and helped her light the fire. As they watched the smoke slowly rise, they quickly returned to their positions, each guarding one of the cave entrances.

The little one was very serious, his little face tense, pressing his hand firmly against the basket on his back, almost his whole little body pressed down on it, as if afraid of letting a single rabbit escape.

The two parents saw this and smiled to themselves, but neither of them bothered her.

They deliberately didn't use dry firewood, so the smoke rose quickly, and soon, faint, rustling sounds could be heard near the cave entrance.

Then, the noise grew louder and closer. By the time the little cub noticed, the basket on its back was being bumped and shaking, which startled it.

"Oh no! Mommy, Mommy, come here! It's running away!"

This was the first time doing this, and in the rush, the little one forgot that the basket was meant to trap the rabbit. Rabbits bite when cornered, and this one was quite fast and strong. Luckily, the little one is strong, otherwise the basket might have really been knocked over.

"Mommy, Mommy!"

The little brat was so anxious he was about to scream his lungs out.

"Come quick! The bunny is running away! It's running away!"

The atmosphere was so infectious that the couple couldn't just stand by and do nothing; they had to get involved too.

So, they covered the hole with a burlap sack, and Jian Dan, feigning urgency, went to the little cub's side.

Are there really rabbits? Where are they?

The little girl's face was completely beaming with uncontrollable joy, her cheeks flushed red, and sweat streamed down her forehead, but she didn't care, staring intently through the gap at the bottom of the basket.

"Mommy, there are bunnies down here! I see them!"

"The bunny's running away! The basket's going to crash! Quick, help hold Bao'er down! Bunny, bunny can't run away!"

The little guy was so anxious he was about to jump up and down, but he clenched his teeth tightly to keep from laughing out loud.

"Okay, okay, Mommy will hold it down."

Just as I placed my hand on it, I felt the basket shake again. Two shadows flashed past below, crashed into the basket, bounced back, and fell to the ground. The little one got excited again.

"Here comes another bunny!"

With a simple press on the basket, the little one readily climbed down, squatted beside it, and hugged it tightly, pressing his face close to the basket as he peered through the gaps, reporting what was inside to his mother.

"Mommy, there really is a bunny! Whitey! Oh! Mommy, it's not whitey, it's grayy!"

"Mommy, it's not a white rabbit!"

"Really? Isn't the gray rabbit beautiful?"

The little one was so excited to see Bai Bai, and Jian Dan was worried she'd cry, but it seems she was overthinking it. Her excitement didn't diminish at all; in fact, it seemed even greater. I don't know why.

Like cheerleaders, rabbits were caught one by one. The little one's voice suffered terribly. Qin Qinghuai came over carrying a heavy sack, and his daughter was staring at the basket and yelling.

"Mommy, it's Grey! Grey is pretty! Just like Little Grey!"

"One, two, mountain, four, five, six, Mommy, six bunnies!"

His simple expression was also very gentle.

"Six rabbits? That's so many! Oh my, can you keep so many rabbits? Can you feed them?"

There were six rabbits, all gray, of various sizes. Combined with the haul in Qin Qinghuai's sack, it was quite a sizable rabbit hutch: two large rabbits, six half-grown rabbits, and five baby rabbits—real baby rabbits, probably just born, fluffy and very cute.

The happiest one was the little one, looking at this and that, adoring everything, his little mouth never closed.

"So many bunnies, Mommy, are they all Bao'er's?"

"...It's all yours,"

Then he turned to Qin Qinghuai and asked,

"How many vegetable leaves do you think this whole litter of rabbits would eat in one meal? Can she feed them all?"

"Ah! They ran away!"

As they were talking, a half-grown rabbit took advantage of the moment the little one reached in, using the arm as a stepping stone to jump up. Just as it was about to run away, the little one screamed, and Qin Qinghuai, who was standing next to him, blocked it with his hand. The big rabbit, which had just jumped up, didn't have time to react and crashed straight into the arm with a loud "bang." The force was opposite, and with this impact, it flew out in the opposite direction.

Then, with a "bang," it fell to the ground.

The incident happened suddenly, and the reaction was quite swift. The little one, after being startled, rushed over, picked up the unconscious rabbit, his big eyes wide with shock. Qin Qinghuai was momentarily stunned.

"Young lady, you shouldn't cry, should you?"

The words had barely left her mouth when, with a loud "Wah!", she burst into tears.

"Daddy, the bunny pooped! It's not moving! The little bunny doesn't have a daddy anymore!"

Simple,"......"

Qin Qinghuai, “…”

In other words, the way kids think is quite surprising.

She sobbed a few times, and before the adults could comfort her, she stopped crying on her own. Tears still clung to her eyelashes, and her face was still wet with tears, when she suddenly asked a question that left her and her husband speechless.
