Chapter 9 Cold-Blooded "If you want to die, I'd better grant your wish quickly."
"When you go astray in your cultivation, the most important thing is to seal your heart meridian."
"Green Shadow Grass can heal Black Cloud Sword wounds, Red Shadow Grass can heal Yellow Cloud Sword wounds, and Blue Shadow Grass can heal Green Cloud Sword wounds."
...
"The most powerful sword is the Netherfire Sword, and the most powerful herb is the Flowing Light Grass."
Yue Mingxi sat on a recliner, her feet idly tapping the massage board, swaying as she carried her assessment report.
She bought this with Sister Bai at the market these past few days. It's very comfortable to sit or lie down in. She also bought one for Wu Shanqing.
With only one week left until the assessment conference, Sister Bai told her that the assessment conference would not only test knowledge from books, but also conduct practical assessments.
The practical assessments are not of any reference value. Every year, the exam questions are all come up with by various sects on a whim, resulting in a wide variety of questions.
Therefore, she only needs to focus on memorizing the knowledge in the exam book.
She has already memorized five books; this is the sixth.
Wu Shanqing lay on the roof and said calmly, "You memorized it wrong."
Yue Mingxi was taken aback. "Where?"
"The most impressive part."
Yue Mingxi hurriedly lowered her head to flip through the assessment book, which clearly stated that "the most powerful sword is the Netherfire Sword, and the most powerful herb is the Flowing Light Grass."
Yue Mingxi looked up and said, "I didn't memorize it wrong, that's how it's written in the book."
Wu Shanqing said "Oh," and then added, "Then the book is wrong."
Yue Mingxi twitched her lips. "How do you know the book is wrong if you don't cultivate immortality?"
Wu Shanqing said calmly, "A mistake is a mistake."
Yue Mingxi: "..."
Taking a breath, Yue Mingxi huffed, "Don't disturb me while I'm reciting my lessons."
This guy would always point out her mistakes when she was reciting, and she would check the book to see if she had made any mistakes.
After the accusation was finished, there was indeed no more noise on the roof.
Yue Mingxi lowered her head and focused intently on memorizing her assessment book.
Wu Shanqing carried the food until noon, then packed it up from Shimanlou and took it home.
Ever since Wu Shanqing delivered the gemstone and learned that she was preparing for the Immortal Cultivation Assessment Conference, he has been bringing her meals from Shimanlou for the past week.
However, Yue Mingxi always eats alone.
Wu Shanqing told her that he had already eaten at Shimanlou.
Yue Mingxi was dissatisfied and repeatedly asked him to come back and eat with her, but Wu Shanqing coldly refused each time.
Sitting at a small wooden table, eating her meal, Yue Mingxi flipped through her assessment book.
Wu Shanqing sat opposite her and scoffed, "Aren't you afraid of choking?"
It was Yue Mingxi who asked him to sit across from her every day, because she was bored eating alone and he wanted to keep her company even if he didn't eat.
Wu Shanqing didn't understand the fool's loneliness, but he did as he was told.
Otherwise, her mouth would bother his ears again, and she would make noise wherever he went.
Compared to the discomfort in her stomach, Wu Shanqing preferred peace and quiet.
Yue Mingxi turned a page in the book and said with a grin, "You won't choke."
Her thinking was simple: Wu Shanqing was such a picky eater, even if he ate at Shimanlou, he would probably only eat a very small amount.
If she forces him to sit across from her and eat with her, Wu Shanqing might just start to want to eat after sitting there and smelling the food.
But the plan was wonderful, but reality was not.
This guy's mouth has never served any purpose other than saying nasty things.
The bowls and chopsticks she prepared for him were purely decorative.
After finishing her meal with great satisfaction, Yue Mingxi rubbed her stomach.
Wu Shanqing stood up, cleared away the dishes, and took them to wash.
After drinking the herbal decoction made by Wushanqing for three consecutive days, Yuemingxi Feitian's injuries have been completely healed.
Standing up, Yue Mingxi skipped and hopped after Wu Shanqing.
"Hey, Wu Shanqing, I've noticed you really enjoy washing dishes. You always insist on doing it. How about I do it this time?"
Wu Shanqing coldly refused as always. "No."
Yue Mingxi chuckled foolishly and said, "Are you feeling sorry for me because you've been studying so hard these past few days, neglecting sleep and meals?"
Wu Shanqing said expressionlessly, "Because you didn't clean it properly."
Yue Mingxi protested, "I wash the dishes very clean, it's just that you don't give me a chance."
Wu Shanqing ignored her and slowly walked towards the kitchen.
Yue Mingxi called out from behind him, "Wu Shanqing, I'm stuffed. Let's go for a walk to digest."
Wu Shanqing replied dismissively, "Whatever."
"Okay!" Yue Mingxi said with a grin.
Apart from the time eight days ago when Wu Shanqing deliberately set up a barrier to prevent her from going out, Wu Shanqing has never stopped her from going out again.
However, Yue Mingxi was in the habit of telling him before she went out, and she would run out regardless of whether he agreed or not.
Walking blissfully through the mountains and forests, Yue Mingxi held her assessment book in her hand, reciting it softly as she walked.
One bird after another fluttered away from the treetops, and the forest was filled with the calls of birds and beasts.
Yue Mingxi raised her head, and suddenly, she stopped.
Three hundred miles away, a dozen people were ganging up on a teenager. The teenager was beaten bloody and lay kneeling on the ground.
Startled, Yue Mingxi quickly put the books into her storage bag and ran home.
He ran while shouting, "Wushanqing, Wushanqing, Wushanqing."
Wu Shanqing descended from the sky, and Yue Mingxi, losing her balance, crashed into him with a heavy thud.
Wu Shanqing took a step back to avoid her and said coldly, "What are you shouting about now?"
Yue Mingxi rubbed her aching head, her voice anxious. "Wu Shanqing, are you incredibly skilled?"
She remembered that Sister Bai respectfully addressed him as Lord Wu and was filled with fear of him.
Wu Shanqing frowned and asked, "Why are you asking this?"
Yue Mingxi explained to him, "I saw someone was about to be beaten to death, could you save him?"
Wu Shanqing said coldly, his voice completely flat. "I won't save him."
Yue Mingxi was taken aback. "Why?"
“There’s no why,” Wu Shanqing said, turning back, his voice as cold as ice. “Don’t call me next time something like this happens.”
Yue Mingxi ran ahead of him, grabbed his sleeve to block his way, and said urgently, "But if we don't save him, he'll die."
Wu Shanqing slowly pulled out his sleeve, puzzled, and asked, "What does this have to do with me?"
Yue Mingxi was stunned for a moment. She had originally thought that Wu Shanqing was just a childish person who spoke rudely.
I never expected him to be so heartless.
Sniffing, Yue Mingxi asked in confusion, "If you have the ability, why would you stand by and watch someone die?"
Wu Shanqing laughed, "Isn't birth, aging, sickness, and death a normal thing?"
“But if we had saved him, he wouldn’t have died.” Yue Mingxi looked up at him.
"So many people die every day for all sorts of reasons, am I supposed to save them all?" Wu Shanqing looked down at her, his voice colder than ice. "I'm not that free, nor am I that kind-hearted."
Yue Mingxi stared blankly up at him, feeling that Wu Shanqing had become an absolute stranger.
She pursed her lips and argued softly, "I know we can't save them all. But if we can save even one, I feel that saving one person means one less person will suffer."
Wu Shanqing's cold, icy voice pierced her ears. "What I saw was you, not me."
The moonlit stream pauses, while the green mountains move freely, always handling everything with ease.
So much so that she often forgot that Wu Shanqing suffered from an eye disease and was completely blind.
Na stammered, then Yue Mingxi whispered, "I'm sorry, that's not what I meant."
Wu Shanqing hummed in agreement. "I know."
Looking up at Wu Shanqing, Yue Mingxi pleaded again, "Are you really not going to save him? He's really going to die."
"I won't save them." Wu Shanqing said those two words again, calmly.
Yue Mingxi looked at him earnestly, "Can you take me there? I'm in no time."
Wu Shanqing, baffled by this fool's thought process, sneered, "What's the point of you going? Just to send another person to their death?"
Yue Mingxi was taken aback and pleaded softly, "Just take me with you. I'll think of something when we get there. It's better than just worrying here. I'm not stupid. Even if we can't save them, I won't be a burden or throw my life away. I value my life the most."
Wu Shanqing's expression softened slightly, and Yue Mingxi grabbed his sleeve again, holding it tightly in her hand to prevent him from flying away.
She stared at him with big eyes, constantly waving his sleeve in her hand.
Yue Mingxi whispered, "Just take me with you. I'll accept it if we can't save him, but I really can't watch him die. I'll have nightmares and won't be able to sleep tonight."
Wu Shanqing frowned and reluctantly hummed in agreement.
Yue Mingxi tugged at his sleeve and jumped up happily, "Thank you, Wu Shanqing, I knew you were the best."
"Come up." Wu Shanqing summoned his sword and turned his head to sense her.
Yue Mingxi went up to him tremblingly and whispered, "Could you let me hug you? I'm a little scared."
Wu Shanqing coldly refused. "No."
"Okay." Yue Mingxi sniffed, her whole body trembling.
Wu Shanqing scoffed at her, "Someone like you wants to save people?"
Yue Mingxi's lips trembled as she retorted, "Saving people has nothing to do with my fear of heights."
Wu Shanqing flicked his finger, making a sweeping motion in the air, and coldly said to her, "Stand firm, or you'll fall and be smashed into mud."
Yue Mingxi looked at his gesture and chuckled foolishly.
She read eight books on cultivation assessment knowledge, and those readings weren't for nothing; these were hand gestures for setting up a protective barrier.
What a childish person! Not only did he not tell her, but he also threatened her.
"Are you crazy?" Wu Shanqing asked, looking down.
“No.” Yue Mingxi stood behind her sword, her fear having subsided considerably. “Let’s go quickly, I’ll give you directions.”
"No need," Wu Shanqing said calmly.
"Do you know where it is?" Yue Mingxi scratched her head.
"I know." With those two words, the sword instantly soared into the air, rising straight up.
The howling wind tousled Wu Shanqing's white blindfold, which fluttered onto Yue Mingxi's face.
Yue Mingxi observed the white veil's flight path, distracting herself, and asked him curiously, "Wu Shanqing, why are you so amazing?"
"Why are you so stupid?" Wu Shanqing scoffed.
Yue Mingxi: "..."
With a snort, Yue Mingxi shouted at him, "I'm not stupid."
Wu Shanqing coldly replied, "Only a fool would overestimate his abilities and presume to save someone."
Yue Mingxi clenched her fists, both angry and annoyed: "That's still better than you, you cold-blooded monster."
"Oh," Wu Shanqing replied dismissively, completely disregarding her words.
"So angry!" Yue Mingxi puffed out her cheeks and huffed at his back.
Clenching her fists, Yue Mingxi delivered several powerful punches to him in mid-air.
She refused to speak to Wu Shanqing the entire way.
Unexpectedly, just a few minutes later, Wu Shanqing stopped his flying sword on the broad, thick treetop, sheathed it, and said calmly, "We've arrived."
Yue Mingxi steadied herself by holding onto the branches, completely forgetting that she was going to have a cold war with Wu Shanqing, and exclaimed in surprise, "So fast."
Wu Shanqing sneered. "If you want to die, I'll grant your wish quickly."
Yue Mingxi choked for a moment, then said speechlessly, "Would you die if you didn't say something nasty?"
Wu Shanqing smirked and retorted, "You idiot, will you die if you don't do something stupid?"
Yue Mingxi patiently explained to this empathetic guy again, "I'm not stupid, and saving people isn't a stupid thing to do."
After saying that, Yue Mingxi ignored him, quickly climbed down the tree trunk, and ran ten meters away.
She has this wretched life, at most she has five more months to live. Even if she unfortunately loses her head, it's not a big deal.
If you save someone, you gain a life; if they die, you only lose a few months' worth of money. There's no better deal in the world.
