Chapter 10 Going Home "Wushanqing is the best."

Chapter 10 Going Home "Wushanqing is the best."

The forest was filled with sounds of fighting and insults. Yue Mingxi peeked out from behind a big tree.

Prick up her ears and listen carefully to the insults hurled at her, hoping to find a solution.

"You little brat, how dare you sneak out!"

"I think you're tired of living. Beat him to death."

...

"Today we'll show you what we're made of."

Sneaking away? Yue Mingxi scratched her head, looking up at the splendid clothes of the dozen or so tough men and the simple clothes of the boy.

The little light bulb in Yue Mingxi's head suddenly lit up.

This boy was most likely a servant from a wealthy family who had been caught sneaking away.

Yue Mingxi pulled her head back, which made things easier.

Giving herself a mental pep talk, Yue Mingxi stood up from the tree trunk.

He shouted to them from two or three meters away, "Stop! You're not allowed to fight anymore!"

"Where did this little brat come from? Mind your own business!" the burly man at the head of the group shouted at her. "This is a family matter of the Lu family."

Just to be on the safe side, Yue Mingxi looked up and asked, "What did he do wrong? Why are you beating him like this?"

"Big brother, why bother with her?" the small-eyed man next to him said.

Big Mouth snapped at her, "If this is none of your business, then leave, or I'll beat you up too."

Big Nose rubbed his hands together, looking lewd. "No way, brothers, this girl is so beautiful. Beating her up would be too easy on her."

"Watch your mouth, do you know who I am?" Yue Mingxi glared at them, speaking in a show of bravado.

"Wow, what a boastful tone," said the big-nosed man.

“I am a princess of the current dynasty.” Yue Mingxi raised her head and said shamelessly, “If you dare to disrespect me, you can expect to be beheaded.”

"Where did this lunatic come from?" Big Mouth snarled. "Get lost, or I'll really hit you."

"I want this person. Name your price," Yue Mingxi said arrogantly.

"Big brother, brother, is she really a princess of the current dynasty?" The little eyes shrank back in fear.

The burly man at the head of the group pursed his lips and said to her, "These are servants who escaped from our Lu family. If you want to redeem them, you'll need at least three gold ingots."

Upon hearing this, the burly men standing next to him all swallowed hard.

Yue Mingxi breathed a sigh of relief. Luckily, she had brought money. She could tell they were trying to rip her off, but she couldn't bargain in the moment.

With her chin tilted back, Yue Mingxi took out a gold ingot from her storage pouch and played with it, weighing it up and down in her hand.

He said arrogantly, "Alright, I'll give you one gold ingot first. You hand over his indenture and redemption contract, and I'll give you the remaining two gold ingots."

"Who knows if your gold ingot is real or fake?" Big Mouth said.

Yue Mingxi smiled, then threw the gold ingot at the lewd-looking big-nosed man with a grudge, clapped her hands, and said, "Go ahead and check it."

Big Nose was hit so hard he grimaced and wanted to go up and punch her, but was held back by the other burly men who wanted the gold ingots.

The burly man at the head of the group bit down with his teeth, his small eyes stammering eagerly, "Big brother, is this really real? Let me take a bite and see if it's real too."

The burly man shoved him aside with disdain and said loudly, "I'll send someone to get it for you right now."

Yue Mingxi set a condition: "Fourteen minutes, or I don't want him."

If this dragged on any longer, she feared the boy's chances of survival were slim.

The big man nodded and sent a long-necked, burly man to ride a horse. He said to Yue Mingxi, "Don't let his donkey-like appearance fool you, he's a first-rate horseman."

Yue Mingxi snorted, "I don't care if he looks like a donkey, a horse, or a mule, I must see the contract within a quarter of an hour."

The burly man said, "Don't worry about that. Long Neck is a money-grubber. He'll come on time, even if he has to crawl."

Sure enough, in less than a quarter of an hour, the long-necked man galloped over on horseback, tumbled off his horse, panting heavily, and handed the two contracts to the big man.

The burly man squatted down and had the boy press his fingerprint on the redemption contract, then respectfully showed it to Yue Mingxi.

Yue Mingxi carefully read through the two contracts, confirmed they were correct, breathed a sigh of relief, and handed the remaining two gold ingots to the big man.

The little-eyed boy rushed forward, snatched one, and started biting it, only to be kicked by the big man. "Look at you, making a fool of yourself."

The burly man straightened up and shouted, "Brothers, let's ride back to the manor!"

He still harbored some worries, fearing that this wealthy and beautiful young woman was actually a princess of the court, so he quickly grabbed his distinctive-looking subordinates and ran away.

Watching them walk away, Yue Mingxi rushed to the boy's side, anxiously asking, "Mei Zishi, are you alright? Can you still move?"

She had seen the boy's contract and knew his name.

Mei Zi was covered in blood, with a delicate face, about fifteen or sixteen years old, her brows furrowed in pain, and she showed no reaction.

Yue Mingxi was startled and quickly stepped forward to help him up.

Suddenly, a bright light lashed out at Yue Mingxi, aiming straight for her heart.

The boy's eyes were frighteningly bright, his movements were swift and ruthless, and his eyes held a deep, boundless hatred.

The blade flashed incredibly fast; Yue Mingxi only had time to open her eyes wide before the dagger was already just inches away from her clothes.

The next second, a tremendous force sent Mei Zishi flying backward.

The dagger fell to the ground with a crisp clang, and Mei Zishi coughed up a mouthful of blood, then lay on the ground completely unconscious.

Still shaken, Yue Mingxi collapsed to the ground, utterly exhausted.

The tooth pendant hanging inside her clothes was scalding hot. Wiping the cold sweat from her forehead, Yue Mingxi reached out and took the pendant out.

Did this pendant save her?

"As expected, you're incredibly stupid." Wu Shanqing teleported in front of her and said mockingly without expression.

Yue Mingxi stared blankly up at him, “So the pendant you gave me was a talisman. No wonder you stopped stopping me from going out after you gave me this pendant. Why?”

"Why?" Yue Mingxi's eyes were full of confusion. "Why would someone as heartless as you save me again and again?"

Wu Shanqing paused for a moment, then said coldly, "Do you want to die? Just say so, and I'll grant your wish."

Yue Mingxi fell silent instantly, pursed her lips, and whispered, "Thank you for saving me."

"The pendant can only be used once," Wu Shanqing said calmly. "You won't be so lucky next time, and you can forget about going out."

"Huh?" Yue Mingxi was stunned.

"Isn't this your own fault?" Wu Shanqing sneered.

"What about my cultivation assessment?"

"You should have thought about the consequences before you did it." Wu Shanqing's expression turned cold. "Didn't you say you valued your life the most? Is this what you mean by valuing your life?"

Blinking, Yue Mingxi said in surprise, "I didn't know he would suddenly draw his sword."

Wu Shanqing smirked, "The idiot has finally admitted he's an idiot."

Yue Mingxi said sullenly, "You're just taking advantage of your strength to bully me."

Gritting her teeth, Yue Mingxi resolved that one day when she became powerful, she would definitely bully Wu Shanqing severely.

"The person who bullied you is the one you're trying to save; you only got what you deserved."

Yue Mingxi ignored him, placed her palm on the ground, sat up, and kept a distance from Mei Zishi, cautiously extending a finger to check his breathing.

She could escape swiftly should Mei Zi make any unusual move.

Thankfully, the boy was still breathing.

Wu Shanqing scoffed, "Don't tell me you still want to save her."

Yue Mingxi put away Mei Zishi's dagger, took out rope from her storage bag, and tied Mei Zishi up tightly.

They searched him thoroughly again to make sure that Mei Zishi was no longer carrying any weapons.

Standing up, Yue Mingxi's eyes turned cold. "Or he really wants to stab me. I need to find out why he wants to stab me, and I will make him pay the price."

Wu Shanqing said in surprise, "I thought that idiot was a pushover."

Yue Mingxi looked up, rolled her eyes, and said pitifully, "Could we take him back to our house first?"

“That’s my home, not yours,” Wu Shanqing coldly corrected her.

"Wu Shanqing, I'm scared. I'm afraid he really wants to stab me." Yue Mingxi squatted down next to Mei Zishi, grabbed Wu Shanqing's sleeve, and shook it up and down, saying, "Wu Shanqing is the best."

Although she didn't know why Wu Shanqing protected and saved her at every turn, it didn't stop Yue Mingxi from taking advantage of that.

There's nothing wrong with it, Yue Mingxi thought to herself. There's no such thing as kindness without a reason. Wu Shanqing must have a conspiracy to protect her. She must be of use to him.

Wu Shanqing uses her, and she uses Wu Shanqing—it's a perfectly normal and fair thing.

Wu Shanqing sneered, "Who just called me a cold-blooded monster?"

Yue Mingxi quickly pledged her loyalty. "That was my foolish blunder."

Wu Shanqing smirked, "If you're afraid she'll stab you, then just don't save her."

"What if he's a good person? If I don't save him, wouldn't that be taking a life?" Yue Mingxi continued to shake his sleeve, pleading softly.

Wu Shanqing pulled out his sleeve. "Speak if you want to talk, but don't touch me."

Yue Mingxi was overjoyed and asked happily, "Does that mean you agree?"

Wu Shanqing took a step forward and said expressionlessly, "If you say another word, I'm leaving, and you won't need to go home."

Yue Mingxi couldn't help but smile. Wu Shanqing had just said that was his home.

As Yue Mingxi helped Mei Zi up, she happily said, "Wu Shan Qing is the best."

The sleeve-waving move was indeed a brilliant trick against Wu Shanqing; she would use it again next time.

As for Wu Shanqing's words, there's no need to pay attention to what he says; just watch what he does.

Feeling helpless as he experienced all of this, Wu Shanqing frowned. How could there be such stupid people in the world?

If she weren't useful to him, he would have thrown her away long ago.

Not only are they stupid and dull, but they are also incredibly noisy and annoying.

The time he spent with her was a stain on his life.

Drawing his sword, Wu Shanqing said coldly, "Idiot, come here, it's time to go home."
