Chang Le, supporting herself on her knees, gasped for breath. Her throat and chest ached from exhaustion, and the cold wind felt like knives cutting into her. She straightened up, leaning against the mountain wall, and looked at the lifeless glacier mammoth.
This plan was not only dangerous, but it also took a huge toll on her, both physically and in terms of her supernatural abilities.
Fortunately, it was a success!
From the moment they discovered it was an eighth-tier glacial mammoth, Chang Le knew the instructors' goal wasn't to have them kill it, but rather to put pressure on them and force them to their limits. Chang Le also knew that running meant constantly being caught and running away; although arduous, it wouldn't threaten their lives.
However, Chang Le had other motives.
She needs the purest energy from the glacier mammoth's origin to replenish [Ice Moon].
She thought of the snow on the mountaintop that was easy to slip on, and a plan came to mind.
The initial random landings allowed her to calculate and confirm that her current strength was enough to shake the mammoth's trunk. The subsequent landings were deliberately designed to cause an avalanche, while simultaneously creating a drainage "pipeline." Furthermore, she even left herself a ventilation opening.
The mammoth left a passage in the mountainside on one side of the avalanche path, and the nineteen vines were strong enough to ensure that the passage would not be blocked in an avalanche of this size.
As the avalanche struck, Chang Le forced the mammoth to face it directly. The surging snow powder suffocated the mammoth instantly, while its nose was blocked by vines.
Amidst the swirling snow, the suffocating mammoth's defenses crumbled, and it was pierced in the abdomen by vines. The combined effects of [Devour] and the pressure of the avalanche caused the mammoth to lose its strength in a panic and suffocate to death.
As the snowflakes fell, Chang Le used her consciousness to control the vines and moved to the passage where the vines wove an exit to prevent the passage from being blocked by the snow. This was her ventilation shaft.
Her Devouring ability can absorb the superpowers and life force of the Glacier Mammoth, but it cannot supply oxygen. Without ventilation, she herself would suffocate first.
The glacial mammoth collapsed after struggling for a short time. This one had been domesticated and lost much of its wildness, so its will to survive was not strong.
Chang Le did not leave immediately. Instead, he took the opportunity to probe into the glacier mammoth's core through the wound on its abdomen. Without damaging the core's surface, he devoured and absorbed a portion of the pure ice-attribute energy.
Now, the [Ice Moon] within her body has solidly risen to the seventh rank.
Chang Le glanced at the rescue team not far away, then stepped forward on his own, took out a dagger, and with the help of vines, deftly cut out the glacier mammoth's core, put it in his bag, and then left with his bag on his back.
She didn't go far; she found a cave, sat down to eat, drink, and rest.
After resting for ten minutes, she set off again.
"Instructor Li, apart from Gu Yujing's group whose special abilities were neutralized by him and who ran away in fear, everyone else is doing their best to avoid them." The instructor pointed at Chang Le, "But what about her?"
Li Yunfan chuckled softly, "What should we do? Let's release another one! She seems quite relaxed."
Chang Le walked to the lakeside at the foot of Baishui Peak and sensed the approaching presence.
She suddenly darted to the left, and a huge but extremely fast figure swept past, the wind it generated brushing against her face a few seconds later.
Upon closer inspection, Chang Le recognized it as a different species – the giant deer – which was essentially similar to the giant deer from the Ice Age.
It has the attribute of wind and is extremely fast.
Chang Le stared at it, almost unable to move. She didn't know about the giant deer from the Ice Age, but this exotic species of giant deer was said to be delicious.
Looking at the surveillance footage, Li Yunfan glared and said, "What's with that dog-like expression she's got when she sees meat?"
The instructor chuckled awkwardly, "These giant deer, once captured, become regulars at hot pot restaurants..."
"Oh no, we're going to lose one again."
Chang Le wasn't killed, or rather, he couldn't be killed.
Although he really wanted to try it, he couldn't be so greedy as to risk losing the rest of his life. So Chang Le turned and ran.
With 63 hours left, none of the trainees were eliminated, but all of them fought dozens of times against the pursuing alien species.
Li Yunfan waved his hand: "Start the second step."
Three minutes later, the hum of machinery filled the air.
As soon as Chang Le jumped onto the hill, she saw more than a dozen dark figures rapidly approaching. In the blink of an eye, dozens of gun barrels were already pointed at her head.
Chang Le's body moved faster than his mind. He quickly pounced down, and all the vines shot up from the ground to form a shield. The "rat-a-tat-tat" of gunfire sounded like huge hailstones hitting his eardrums.
The vines at this level of cultivation couldn't withstand the barrage of tens of thousands of bullets!
The bighorn deer that had been chasing them cried out twice and retreated.
Using the mountain as cover, Chang Le fled, running directly to the giant deer. Bullets sprayed across the deer's skin, exploding into various colors of paint. The deer screamed and fled, and Chang Le moved in sync with it, dodging its attacks while using it as a natural shield.
A man and a deer frantically fled, leaping and bounding about.
The alien and drone barrage isn't over yet! One by one, robots gleaming with metallic sheen enter the fray—these are the sparring partners for martial arts training!
Chang Le's back was pressed against the mountain wall. To her left was a giant stag eyeing her and coveting the drones. To her right were six Wuxun robots, each over two meters tall. Facing her was a drone squadron leisurely flying in and taking turns firing.
If there's an ever-present risk of avalanches on the mountain behind us, that would be dangerous enough; right now, we're surrounded by enemies on all sides.
Chang Le's breathing was inevitably heavy.
Her hair was mixed with sweat, snow, and mud, and her body had several blank cartridge paint marks and scars from fighting with robots and giant stags.
It's 5 p.m. now, a full 10 hours have passed since the extreme training began.
None of the eighteen people were eliminated, but each of them simply couldn't spare the time to deal with the others.
