Chapter 548 Star Chart Fades; Memories: Meeting Shen Fuguang in the First Snow

There is no day or night in the Dragon Tomb and Nine Provinces Shrine, but the sky drawn with star charts has brightness and dimness.

Every sixty hours, the Milky Way on Earth will exhibit a waterspout phenomenon, causing the inverted Milky Way to return to the sky, the yellow sand to dance, and the Milky Way's luster to dim.

Until the next sixty hours, the Milky Way will once again flow from the sky to become the Milky Way on earth, the star map will once again radiate brilliant light, and the yellow sand will fall silent.

The flickering light for sixty hours was like the breathing of the entire Dragon Tomb.

The night Chang Le entered the Kyushu Shrine, he experienced the first star chart transformation. The sky changed from brilliant to dim, and the Milky Way, hanging upside down, then flowed backwards into the sky.

Subsequently, the entire dragon tomb entered an even darker period.

Chang Le lay prostrate beneath the tombstone, utterly silent.

Until the next flash of light, the star map once again shone brightly, and the Milky Way tilted down again, the rumbling and surging sound startling Chang Le, who was almost petrified.

Chang Le slowly moved his arm, which was either frozen or numb, he couldn't tell.

A few cool flakes landed on her.

Chang Le slowly raised his head, and before he knew it, pale snowflakes, like a rain of white flowers, began to fall silently.

"It's snowing..."

The hoarse voice sounded like wood sawing through the throat, but it didn't diminish the joy in the voice.

Chang Le stretched out his pale fingers and caught several clumps of falling snowflakes with both hands.

Dragon Tomb has no seasons, but the wind, rain, and snow of the Ninth District occasionally cross spatial dimensions and arrive at Dragon Tomb.

Just like this first snow.

Chang Le propped himself up, caught the snow, and turned to show it to Shen Fuguang: "The snow is so heavy, we can build a snowman."

Even though my palms were already frozen, the snowflakes quickly melted into water.

Chang Le curled up against the tombstone and whispered, "When I was with Sister Xiao Ye, I hated winter the most because it was so cold and I couldn't stand it. But later, I came to love winter the most."

"I met you on the day of the first snow eleven years ago."

"From that day on, I had a home again and was no longer afraid of the cold winter."

Chang Le lay down again, closed his eyes, and felt as if he had returned to the beginning in the first snow.

Eleven years ago, in late autumn—

Winter comes early in the north. While people in Zone 7 can still wear short sleeves, it's already snowing in Zone 9.

In October, the northern part of District 9 welcomed its first snowfall of the year.

The snow is falling heavily, and as the snow falls, a group of alien species will venture into human settlements in the Northern Ruins to store food for hibernation.

District Nine will enter a period of alert at this time. Apart from hunters, mercenaries, and wanderers who come here, everyone else will stay at home.

The first snow hadn't stopped falling on the third day. In the northernmost city of the Central Plains, a powerful alien species unexpectedly invaded. The defense system of Jade Tower Pass remained undetected, and the alien species suddenly appeared in the city, slaughtering the humans.

But just then, Dragon Emperor Shen Fuguang, Mu Liangchao, and Xue Wuwang were in the North City. Shen Fuguang and Mu Liangchao arrived in time and quickly killed the alien species.

This was a newly pregnant mutant, requiring a large amount of flesh and blood from mutants to survive the long winter and give birth the following spring. But sadly, its life ended there.

“A variant – a cold-blooded goat, this thing is quite rare.” Mu Liangchao crossed his arms and examined the enormous goat lying in the snow.

The cold-blooded goat on the ground is over two meters long, with a relatively short nose and head, and humps on its shoulders similar to those of a camel, making it very robust.

"This thing was originally the Balearic Islands cave goat, the only cold-blooded mammal. It was extinct before the catastrophe, but after the catastrophe and the resurgence of supernatural abilities, it reappeared and became a mutant."

Mu Liangchao clicked his tongue and circled the goat several times, taking several pictures of it with his communicator. After putting the communicator away, he casually pulled out a roll of tobacco and lit it.

"Want one?" He handed one to Shen Fuguang, who was standing next to him.

Shen Fuguang raised his hand in refusal: "I quit a long time ago."

“No fun at all.” Mu Liangchao retracted his words.

"Once the others arrive, they'll clean this place up, and things should be peaceful here this year," Mu Liangchao said, kicking the goat's leg.

"They haven't arrived yet? The smell of blood is so strong, we don't want to attract others... hmm?"

Mu Liangchao suddenly stopped, his gaze sharp, subtly sweeping over the corner of the wall not far away, before putting the tobacco back into his mouth:

"Old Shen, there are more and more people who don't know what's good for them these days. I told them not to come near, but some people still came over to watch the show. They're really asking for death."

"..."

Before Shen Fuguang could reply, Mu Liangchao looked over in confusion, only to find that Shen Fuguang's brows were furrowed and he looked quite strange.

"Old Shen? What's wrong?"

Shen Fuguang suddenly turned his head to look at the corner of the wall: "They're fighting."

"Hmm?" Mu Liangchao glanced at it. "Trying to sneak over and get a share of the pie, but ended up fighting amongst themselves?"

Mu Liangchao extinguished the ignition with his fingers, put his hands in his pockets, and walked over there, saying, "I'll go take a look."

Shen Fuguang frowned, raised his hand to his chest, and murmured, "Was my feeling wrong? How did I end up here..."

"Charge! Kill her! How dare she steal our food!"

"Damn it, just because he's a little brat? I don't believe it!"

"Damn! How can it be so slippery! I can't catch it!"

In the alley just a wall away, a group of people were punching and kicking each other in a frantic manner. A small, thin figure dodged nimbly like a kitten, striking out from time to time with ruthless moves, specifically targeting the throat, groin, chest, and eyes.

The group exchanged glances and simultaneously attacked, forcing the man deeper into the alley.

"You brat! Where do you think you're going!"

One of them slammed his hands down on the ground, and his supernatural power caused countless earth spikes to suddenly shoot out from the ground and walls.
