Chapter 115 One Must Not Repay Kindness with Enmity

The Wu family arranged for the mourning hall to be set up overnight, and the funeral clothes and white cloth were also prepared. Close relatives also received the news and took the initiative to come and help.

However, for some unknown reason, the Wu family's mourning hall was quickly dismantled early in the morning, and the prepared funeral clothes and white cloths were all put away.

The relatives, unaware of what had happened, turned and rushed towards the hospital, only to be stopped outside.

The Wu family told them to go back first, saying that Wu Guyu's current condition was not suitable for visiting, and that they would inform everyone if there were any changes.

Wu Guyu had regained consciousness, but he was still unable to move. Upon waking, he asked, "Where is Zhao Chengfeng?"

"His fate is unknown." Old Wu looked at his son, his eyes stinging with tears. "I must kill him. You focus on recovering."

Wu Guyu recalled the scene before he lost consciousness. He had been shot, and Zhao Chengfeng had crashed his car into the raging river. His mouth and nose were submerged in water, and he thought he was going to die. After all, with such a strong current, it would be impossible to save him.

Who saved me?

“It was Ji Hefeng. He jumped from the bank, which was six or seven meters high, and scared everyone who came to rescue him.” Old Wu sighed. “In such dangerous waters, he jumped in without any hesitation and successfully pulled you out.”

Wu Guyu was silent for a moment, then said, "My son and I each owe him a life."

Old Wu shook his head, "I'm afraid there are more than three."

"Who else?" Wu Guyu asked, puzzled. Could it be his mother or his wife who was also in danger?

"You were admitted to the hospital last night, and the doctor said you wouldn't live to see dawn." Old Wu rubbed his stiff face; he had been living in fear all night, and his body was about to give out.

"And then?" Wu Guyu felt conscious. Although he was in a lot of pain, it was still within his tolerance. However, considering that he had been shot and fallen into the river, his chances of survival were indeed slim.

“When you were lying in the hospital room, you were exhaling more and inhaling less, and you looked like that—” Old Wu paused, “we also thought you didn’t have long to live, and your family had already set up a mourning hall for you and made preparations for your funeral.”

Wu Guyu looked dazed; had he almost died?

But what happened next?

“I still don’t know what happened.” Old Wu said carefully. “At that time, everyone was a little out of control. Afraid of disturbing you, we left the ward to calm down before going back in. At that moment, Ji Hefeng came with his wife. He said his wife wanted to say goodbye to you, so they went into the ward and came out about three or four minutes later.”

“We didn’t go in, but we know what they did in the ward. When they came out, Ji Hefeng carried his wife out, saying that she was sleepy and had fallen asleep. But how could she have fallen asleep in just three or four minutes?”

“We thought it was a bit strange at the time, but our minds were all on you, and we didn’t care about anything else, so we didn’t investigate further. Ji Hefeng took his wife back, and we went into the ward to wait for you. The doctor would come to check on you from time to time, and soon the doctor noticed something was wrong and took you away. We all waited until dawn before we saw the doctor again. The doctor said you were out of danger.”

After speaking, Old Wu fell silent. That night felt like a dream, so unreal.

Wu Guyu looked thoughtful. He remembered that Ji Hefeng had also been given several critical condition notices, and it was Molly who appeared and then Ji Hefeng survived.

By the way, Molly also fainted in Ji Hefeng's hospital room at that time.

"The doctor didn't find any traces of other medications on your body, and three or four minutes isn't enough time to do any treatment, yet you really did get better. I don't know whether I should continue to suspect Ji Hefeng and his wife."

"Regardless of what they did, it's true that they saved me. Father, let's leave it at that and not dwell on it."

"But if his wife has that ability, she shouldn't have used it—"

“Father!” Wu Guyu interrupted his father, “You said it yourself, Molly was carried out by Ji Hefeng yesterday. What if she saved someone at the cost of her own life?”

Old Wu's eyes widened. "How can someone who has received a modern scientific education be superstitious?"

"Then explain why I, someone who was certain to die, am now alive and well? Why did Molly faint? If she sacrificed her own life to save mine, wouldn't that make sense?" Wu Guyu also found it absurd, but the facts were undeniable, and she had experienced it firsthand. "Ji Hefeng before, she also fainted within minutes of entering the ward, and then Ji Hefeng recovered. Do you think this is a coincidence? Two people who were 'scientifically' determined not to survive are now alive and well."

Old Wu: "......."

"We can't repay kindness with enmity. Let's leave it at that." Regardless of whether Molly saved him or not, he and his daughter owed Ji and Feng two lives, and they had an obligation to protect Molly's family.

Molly was woken up by hunger and slept until four o'clock in the afternoon.

"The food has been kept warm in the kitchen. I'll go and bring it to you."

Before Molly could refuse, Ji Hefeng had already walked away.

Molly went to wash up and then returned to her room. The fireplace in the room was warm and cozy, making her feel lazy and unwilling to move.

Ji Hefeng brought over two clay pots and a bowl of rice. One pot was full of chicken soup, and the other contained braised pork ribs. He placed the clay pots above the stove and used an empty bowl to serve Molly the chicken soup.

"Where are the children?" Molly's voice was a little hoarse from not having drunk water for so long.

“I’m with my grandparents. It’s been too cold lately, so I told Grandpa not to go out.” Ji Hefeng blew on the chicken soup and placed it in front of Molly. “Drink it carefully, it’s still a little hot.”

Molly drank a bowl of chicken soup and felt much better. Ji Hefeng then gave her two chicken drumsticks, followed by ribs, feeding her with great care.

Molly didn't stop until most of the food in both casseroles was gone. "I'm not eating anymore."

Ji Hefeng took her bowl and chopsticks and finished the rest of the food.

"Is Wu Guyu dead?" Molly asked.

"I don't know, I didn't ask." Ji Hefeng guessed that he was probably not dead, otherwise his phone wouldn't have been so quiet today.

Molly leaned back in her chair, her eyes scrutinizing Ji Hefeng. "Don't you have anything to say?"

Ji Hefeng asked, puzzled, "What did you say?"

The two looked at each other, and Molly stood up first. "If there's nothing else, I'll go back to lying down."

“Zhao Chengfeng is not dead. Be more careful when you go out during this time,” Ji Hefeng reminded him.

"Have you told your grandparents and parents about this?" Zhao Chengfeng is desperate and might become even more insane, posing a significant threat.

Ji Hefeng: "I already said it. Grandpa and Grandma aren't going out these days, so only Mom and Dad have to keep going to work. It's not holiday time yet. Starting tomorrow, I'll take them to work and pick them up after get off work."

Molly: "Can you manage your time?"

"Let's get through this period first." Ji Hefeng narrowed his eyes. "I wonder if Zhao Chengfeng will be so angry that he'll vomit blood when he finds out that Wu Guyu is not dead."

"How did this feud between you two start?" Molly was genuinely curious.

"Who knows, maybe a madman is just biting people randomly." Ji Hefeng recalled that he and Zhao Chengfeng didn't interact much during their two years in college, and he really couldn't understand why the other party had such a deep resentment towards him.

"When our Ji family was sent to the countryside, it was the Zhao family who led the raid on our home. It goes without saying how much the Zhao family took from our family. In fact, besides our family, the Zhao family raided the homes of many other people. This time, when their family fell on hard times, everyone pushed them down, and it's not unfair at all."

For the next two days, Molly stayed in bed all day and didn't go anywhere.

At the end of the month, heavy snow fell, and overnight, the outside world was covered in white.

“I’m going to my older sister’s house. She’s quite far along in her pregnancy, and she shouldn’t be going out in this weather,” Molly said.

"Be careful," Ji Hefeng reminded him.

Molly, holding the umbrella, said, "I know, I'll be back quickly."

After saying that, he went into the snow.

Ji Hefeng also had to take Ji's parents to work. Not far after Molly left, they also had to go out.

Molly arrived early; when she got to Moho's house, Moho was just about to leave.

"Don't go today," Molly said.

Mohe disagreed, "The shop is always busy, they can't handle it if I don't go."

“You’re quite far along in your pregnancy, and you could give birth at any moment. It’s all snow outside. Have you thought about the consequences if you slip and fall?” Molly said seriously. “I’ll find someone to temporarily replace you until you give birth, then you can come back to the shop.”

“Molly is right,” Li Xiaoju added, “It’s freezing outside, you really shouldn’t go out.”

As she spoke, Li Xiaoju gave Molly a fawning smile, "Molly, have you had breakfast yet? I made soy milk and steamed buns, you can eat here."

When Li Xiaoju learned that the three rooms they were living in were bought by Molly and given to Mo He, she regarded Molly as her second parents and wished she could worship Molly.

Molly refused, saying, "I have other things to do, I won't eat."

Li Xiaoju said with a regretful expression, "Then next time you come, you must stay and have a meal with us."

Molly is going to find Wang Hechuan. Wang Hechuan has already bought a house, but his uncle and aunt haven't finished handing over their work, so they won't be able to come to Beijing until after the New Year.

The land for the restaurant has been approved, and the location is quite good, showing that Wu Guyu put a lot of thought into choosing this site. However, the ground is frozen now, so construction can't begin and we'll have to wait until next year.

These past few days, Wang Hechuan has been renovating the house he bought; I wonder how it's going.

Having arrived in Beijing, money is needed everywhere. If they have to wait for the hotel to be completed, Wang Hechuan will have no income for several months. Molly plans to have Wang Hechuan work at the cake shop for a few months; she thinks he won't refuse.

Wang Hechuan told Molly the address of the house he bought, but Molly had never been there.

It's quite a distance from the Ji family's old house, but not far from the cake shop; it takes about half an hour to walk there.
