Second candy
Violet rested for another two days, and when her wounds were almost healed, she began to pack her luggage.
They came out of the forest earlier than she expected, but because of the unexpected serious injury, it has been almost a week since Violet woke up.
Violet Academy will start in a month, and Violet doesn't have much time.
Thinking of Violet Academy, Violet slowed down her packing. The image that popped into her mind was the baby in the cradle she saw in the Queen's arms on the day the princess was born. Now, turning her head to look back, she saw Evelyn's profile as she packed with her.
Then, a sudden thought struck Violet. After the princess' birth, she'd searched everywhere for toys, books, and food, bringing them all to the princess's balcony. Sometimes, through the window, she'd glimpse the young princess studying with the royal tutor, but more often, she'd see the terrified faces of the maids and guards. Every time Violet was discovered, a layer of defensive magic would be cast on the princess's room.
After that, Violet concentrated on decorating the castle and learning how to be a good person, and rarely went to see the princess. She was afraid of seeing the same emotions in the princess's eyes.
Many years passed like this.
Violet's possessions were always limited, the most complex of which were her magic props, and now, alongside them, there were also many wound medicines that Evelyn had given her. Violet lowered her eyes and closed her wooden box.
When you meet the princess, let her judge her.
The sun outside the window is clear and the sky is cloudless. It is a good day.
After Evelyn and Violet finished packing their things, the hour hand of the clock in the glass cabinet opposite the bed slowly slid towards "9".
"Are we leaving soon?" Evelyn asked.
"Yeah." Violet nodded.
"I'm going to check out." Evelin said, and walked out.
"Let's go together." Violet picked up the luggage and said, "Let's go directly."
“Okay.” Evelyn was very pleased with the “together” in Vilt’s words, and she said with a smile.
Leave the town and head towards Violet Academy.
Outside the town was a dirt road with clear footprints and ruts on the ground. There weren't many people passing through here, and the road seemed a bit lonely under the sound of the wind.
The two walked side by side for a while. Grass sprouted on both sides of the dirt road. The grass stretched forward. The grass in the distance within sight turned into shrubs, and the shrubs grew into trees.
Evelin thought of something. She rummaged through her space pocket, and when she found what she wanted, her eyes lit up—she was not mistaken, there were indeed two horses in her space pocket.
Evelyn didn't immediately release the two horses from the space. Instead, she looked at Vilt and asked, "Virt, can you ride a horse?"
"meeting."
Not only can she ride horses, she can also ride all kinds of magical beasts. This was something Violet didn't say.
"That's great. I was sorting out my space pocket a few days ago and found a horse in it. If you can ride it, it's perfect. This way, we can go much faster." Evelyn said this half-truthfully.
After she finished speaking, she looked worried again. "That horse was given to me by my family. They originally wanted me to use it for riding lessons, but unfortunately, they didn't expect..."
Evelyn patched up her words in a few words. Of course she could ride a horse.
Equestrianism is a classic royal subject. Not only do members learn to ride, but teachers also teach the princesses and princes how to gracefully manipulate horses. Evelyn received perfect marks in riding lessons and, at the age of thirteen, was recommended by her equestrian teacher to participate in professional equestrian competitions. If it weren't for her status and her complete lack of interest in becoming a professional equestrian, she and Violet might have met in a different setting.
Before, Violet would have treated Evelyn's words as if they were the stories of a stranger with no connection to her, and would have wondered from her words whether the princess also lived a similar aristocratic life. But now, facing Evelyn's dull tone, her heart skipped a beat. This was a feeling Violet had never experienced before.
Without showing her mood obviously, Violet deliberately focused her attention on the horse.
The nobles' horses have pure bloodlines. The horse in front of me has snow-white hair, without any extra color on its body. It has a smooth body, agile movements, and a good temper.
It was unknown how long the horse had been trapped in the space ring. Although the flow of time in the space ring was stopped, the white horse was suddenly placed in an unfamiliar environment, but it did not show any stress. Instead, it walked to Evelyn's side and bowed its head in submission. It did not resist Violet either.
"It's called Shelley," Evelyn said to Violet. "Touch it and get familiar with it."
Vilt raised her hand as Evelyn said, and the white horse immediately rubbed the palm of Vilt's hand obediently.
In fact, when Evelyn was rummaging through her space pocket just now, she found that there was a carriage in her space. However, there was a royal emblem on the carriage, which was too ostentatious. Evelyn didn't want to be captured by the Knights before she even reached Violet Academy.
And—Virt had already climbed onto the horse without much communication with Shelley—Evelyn watched Violet curl her eyes at the hand she extended, and it was a relief not to have a carriage.
Evelyn used the strength of Violet's hand to get on the horse's back. She sat in front of Violet. Not only did Violet's hand pulling the reins give Evelyn the illusion that she was being hugged by her, but she could even lean against her husband's arms if she relaxed her body slightly.
Just as Evelyn was thinking about how to lean naturally into Violet's arms, she heard the person behind her say, "Evelyn, relax a little. You can lean your back against me. It's safer this way."
“Okay.” Evelyn followed Violet’s instructions, and when their shoulders touched, their bodies stiffened slightly.
Violet tightened her grip on the reins, ignoring the subtle fragrance emanating from Evelyn and the itch her hair brought when it brushed against her wrist, and pulled the reins to spur the horse forward.
Three hours later, Violet and Evelyn arrived in another town.
This time, Vilt chose a decent hotel. Although it was not the best one in town, it was a great improvement compared to her previous stay in the inn.
The white horse stopped at the door of the inn. Violet dismounted first, then reached out her hand to take Evelyn down.
Evelyn naturally wouldn't miss any opportunity to hold hands with Violet. However, Evelyn originally thought that Violet was letting her take advantage of the situation like getting on a horse. However, she didn't expect that Violet would hold her palm with one hand and wrap the other hand around her waist, almost half-holding Evelyn to bring her down.
The feeling of the body floating in the air lasted only a moment, but Vilt's action remained in Evelin's heart for a long time. As the blood rushed through her body, her brain finally felt a little dizzy.
The storage of the horses and the choice of rooms were negotiated between Violet and the innkeeper.
Evelin didn't come to her senses until she stepped onto the stairs.
Room 1 was a double room with two beds, one on the left and one on the right. The environment was clean and tidy. Their time was not tight, but they would not stay in this town for too long, so there was no need to take out all the luggage. They only needed some common things.
From the time they set out to the time they arrived at the hotel, it was just afternoon, and the sun was very strong. The two of them had a very casual lunch on the way - bread and water.
Bread and water couldn't completely satisfy hunger, but Evelyn and Violet had been on horseback for a long journey, and even though they had arrived at the inn to rest, they were both a little tired and had no appetite. So they decided to get some sleep first, and then decide whether to eat and what to eat after waking up.
Evelin chose a seat by the window. She raised her hand to close the curtains but did not lie down immediately.
The curtains in the hotel do not block out light. When the curtains are drawn, the brightness in the room is only slightly lower, not even dim.
Evelyn sat on the edge of the bed, looking at Violet's face across from her. Their main goal was to get to Violet Academy as quickly as possible, so Violet's disguise was not as careful as before. Although she was still wearing men's clothes and her hair was wrapped in a leather hat, as she rode along, the curls on her temples ran out of the hat and slid down her face. Evelyn couldn't take her eyes off it.
Violet was lying flat on her bed with her eyes closed. She didn't feel tired at all, and even with her eyes closed, she couldn't fall asleep. But for various reasons, she didn't want to tell Evelin that she had something to go out for. She just planned to wait until she fell asleep, then quietly go out and come back.
But Violet couldn't ignore the obvious gaze falling on her profile. She tried hard to control her expression and stop her eyelashes from trembling.
If it were before, Vilt could open her eyes, look back and ask the other person directly what was wrong, but now Vilt inexplicably felt that Evelin’s gaze was warm, and she felt something was wrong.
She had thought Evely would soon look away and rest, but unexpectedly, the gaze on her became more and more focused. Violet could control her expression, but she could not control the temperature of her body. She could clearly feel her body heating up from the back of her hand, slowly spreading to her neck.
Perhaps her initial thought was wrong. Evelin saw that she didn't have any complicated thoughts. Perhaps she was inappropriate in some way? Evelin was struggling with whether to wake herself up.
Violet couldn't ignore Evelin's gaze. She pretended to be a little sleepy and opened her eyes. It seemed that she only noticed that Evelin was not asleep when she naturally turned her head.
But Miss Dragon had never taken acting classes, so she didn't know what a person would do when they were drowsy. So, Violet deliberately rubbed her face against the pillow and said slowly, "Are you still awake?"
“No.” Evelin’s voice was a little stiff, as if she was suppressing something. She put a little force on her hands on the bed, and the knuckles of her fingers turned white. Evelin finally restrained her emotions of being touched by Violet’s cuteness.
When could she openly rush to Violet's side, hug her tightly and rub her face against hers? Evelin sighed inconspicuously, and the corners of her lips flattened for a moment.
Evelin's emotions changed very quickly, but even if it was only for a moment, Violet still caught it. She even discerned that Evelin felt a little regretful and a little aggrieved at that moment.
Violet was also a little surprised when she came to this conclusion. Before today, she never knew that she could analyze human emotions so thoroughly.
It seemed as if she was really going to be sentenced to death.
Evelyn and Violet each hid their emotions. Evelyn stopped looking at Violet. She finally lay down, looked at the ceiling and said with a smile, "Sweet dreams, Violet."
"Sweet dreams." Violet replied softly.
The sunlight outside the window slid westward little by little, and the room became darker and darker.
Violet closed her eyes and listened to the subtle rustling of leaves outside. In her ears, besides the rustling of leaves, there was also Evelyn's steady breathing. She was already fast asleep.
An hour had passed since Evelyn fell asleep, and Violet could have gotten up and gone out long ago, but she remained silent, as if fascinated by the rustling of leaves.
If I don’t leave now, Evelyn will wake up. Thinking this, Violet opened her eyes, stood up silently, and used magic to disappear from the room.
It was almost dusk, the time when people came into the town to look for a place to stay.
Violet glanced down the stairs. The first floor of the hotel was packed. After a moment's thought, she randomly chose a room that was currently unoccupied and used magic to isolate it from the outside world. After setting up the magic, Violet walked to the window and opened it. The sun was sinking below the horizon, and the sky was darkening.
After looking at the sky and thinking for a moment, Violet bent her index finger and put it to her lips, and a silent whistle was transmitted by her dragon breath.
A few breaths later, an owl flew over unsteadily, flapping its wings.
It was not yet completely dark, and it was not the time for owls to be active, but the owl flapped its wings particularly vigorously, and its eyes lit up noticeably when it saw Violet by the window.
The owl flew, almost swooped, over the last few steps, and Violet stretched out her arm to catch it. The owl bounced around on her arm and landed in her outstretched palm.
"Coo, hoo, hoo!" the owl hooted, and this series of bird calls turned into an excited "Sir! Sir!" in Wilt's ears.
Violet raised her hand and touched the owl's feathers. She said, "Go to the palace and see if the princess has left for Violet Academy."
After she finished speaking, Violet paused for a moment and ultimately said nothing more.
The owl quickly received the message. It hooted "Yes, sir!" twice, then flapped its wings and flew away.
After the owl left, footsteps were heard outside the house.
The waiter came up the stairs with two new guests and walked down the corridor. The waiter had a notebook in his hand, which clearly recorded the daily occupancy of the guest rooms.
Violet randomly chose a double room with a sign on the door saying 247. The words "Room 247 Vacant" were clearly written on the waiter's notebook, but the waiter seemed not to notice it as he passed the room and led the guest deeper into the corridor.
The footsteps echoed back and forth many times. The sky outside the window was already dark, the moon was hanging high in the sky, and the owl flew back.
She held out her arm for the owl to drop down, and without Violet having to ask questions, the owl said, "Coo-coo-coo, hoo-coo-coo."
[Sir, the palace has strengthened the magic barrier outside the princess's room. I have no way of getting close.]
"Coo-coo-coo-coo."
【I am sorry to disappoint you for not completing your task. 】
After hearing the owl's answer, Vilt couldn't explain the emotions in her heart. She slowly exhaled, "I know. It's not your problem." After that, Vilt raised her hand and touched the owl's feathers. Then she pushed her arm forward and the owl left.
Violet watched as the defensive magic outside the princess's room became increasingly strict, and she knew why.
This kind of vigilance is actually a good thing, isn't it?
