Chapter 4 Su Wantang's heart fluttered

Aunt Wang still feels lingering fear when she thinks about the scene of Lu Zhentian suddenly fainting.

"I don't know either. When I came out after hearing the noise, the old commander had fainted on the ground. He was still holding the phone receiver in his hand, but the call had already ended."

"Okay, I'll go inside and check on Grandpa."

Su Wantang followed behind him.

Aunt Wang seemed to remember something and called out to Lu Huai'an: "Huai'an, before the old leader made the call, Instructor Gu's youngest daughter came to visit him."

Instructor Gu's youngest daughter...

Could it be the "white moonlight" that Liu Cuicui mentioned?

Su Wantang secretly speculated as she followed Lu Huai'an into the study.

"grandfather."

Lu Huai'an looked at Lu Zhentian, who was practicing calligraphy. The old man was in good spirits and showed no signs of having just been to the hospital.

But Lu Huai'an dared not let his guard down, and his brows furrowed even more tightly.

It was also in the afternoon that he learned that his grandfather was not in good health.

An aging body, old wounds from years of war that are difficult to heal...

The most serious injury was a shrapnel lodged in his brain during a demolition mission. According to the doctor who examined him, the shrapnel was compressing his nerves, and he was at risk of developing dementia at any time.

There is currently no effective treatment.

However, a stable emotional state in patients can help slow down the progression of their condition.

Therefore, Lu Huai'an changed his mind and went to pick up Su Wantang.

What did the doctor say?

"What could be wrong? It's just an old problem," Lu Zhentian said dismissively, throwing down his brush.

"Where is Wan Tang?"

Su Wantang stepped out from behind Lu Huai'an and greeted him with a smile.

"Hello, Grandpa Lu."

Lu Zhentian paused for a moment, his eyes filled with a hint of nostalgia.

"So alike! Absolutely! He looks just like your grandma!"

"Come, come, Wan Tang, you must be tired from your journey, sit down quickly."

Lu Zhentian grabbed Su Wantang's hand and pressed her down onto the stool.

The elders didn't sit down, but she, a junior, sat down; it was extremely impolite.

"Grandpa Lu...please sit down, I'll stand."

Su Wantang struggled to stand up, but as soon as her buttocks left the stool, Lu Zhentian pressed her down again.

"Grandpa has been sitting all afternoon, he's not tired."

Just as Su Wantang was feeling awkward and unsure of what to do, Lu Huai'an moved a stool and placed it behind Lu Zhentian.

"Grandpa, please sit down too."

Lu Zhentian didn't stand on ceremony and plopped down in his seat.

Seeing him sit down, Su Wantang breathed a slight sigh of relief.

Thinking back to what had just happened, she couldn't help but look at Lu Huai'an. Had he noticed her predicament? Was he trying to help her out?

Suddenly, Lu Huai'an's gaze swept over, and Su Wantang's heart skipped a beat. She quickly looked away.

"Grandpa Lu, did you write this? It's very..." Su Wantang, who was feeling guilty for being caught peeking, wanted to say something to distract herself, but she couldn't find the right words to say anything when she looked at the paper spread out on the desk.

Lu Zhentian, however, became quite interested.

"Very what?"

"Unique and unforgettable."

Lu Huai'an glanced at the worm-like handwriting and gave Su Wantang a meaningful look.

"Hahaha."

“Wantang, you have good taste. Those blind old men even said my handwriting was terrible. Humph, they don’t know anything about it.”

Su Wantang smiled awkwardly and didn't reply.

Although Lu Zhentian was old, his eyes were still sharp, and he noticed the gazes that the two of them were looking at each other.

His lips stretched even wider, revealing his pink gap-toothed smile.

"Wantang, when are you and Huai'an planning to get married?"

"ah?"

The topic jumped too far, and Su Wantang was a little caught off guard.

"Grandpa, Comrade Su and I have no feelings for each other, so it would be better to call off this marriage."

As soon as Lu Huai'an spoke, Su Wantang, who understood what was going on, also spoke up.

"Grandpa Lu, nowadays we advocate freedom of love. I have no feelings for Comrade Lu and I agree to annul the engagement."

Lu Zhentian: "Do you have someone you like?"

"No."

"So you think he's terrible? Not good enough for you?"

"Grandpa Lu, this has nothing to do with it."

"Wantang, answer your grandfather yes or no?"

Lu Huai'an was able to become a battalion commander at such a young age, so his abilities must be quite good, not to mention his family background.

Su Wantang cannot speak against her conscience.

"no."

Lu Zhentian slapped his thigh: "That's no problem! Feelings can be cultivated! If there are no feelings, we'll cultivate them!"

Such is the logic of a bandit, yet Su Wantang couldn't find a reason to refute it for the time being.

"Grandpa Lu, all I want to do right now is study medicine; I don't want to get married."

“That’s not a problem. I’ll arrange for you to get into the military hospital. You’re still young, so you can have the baby a couple of years later. There’s no rush.”

They arranged for me to go to the military hospital.

It has to be said, Su Wantang was tempted.

"Grandpa Lu, marriage is a matter between two people."

Lu Zhentian figured it out: "You're worried about Huai'an?"

"He doesn't have a girl he likes! And his opinion doesn't matter!"

"Grandpa!" Lu Huai'an called out.

"Ah!" Lu Zhentian clutched his head. "No, I'm so angry my head hurts!"

Su Wantang thought Lu Zhentian's acting was quite exaggerated, but Lu Huai'an seemed to like it.

He pursed his lips and said, "I have no objection."

"Wantang, girl?"

Lu Zhentian's headache immediately disappeared. He winked at Su Wantang, his face clearly saying, "Nod your head and say I do."

"but..."
