Er Ya is really easy to take care of. She wakes up at six every morning and has a bowel movement. Now her urination is also very regular, every two hours. Lin Ying only needs to take her to pee during these times.
He eats and sleeps regularly, and he's always smiling. This makes Lin Ying feel that her mood has improved considerably.
After lunch, Lin Ying used a fire to boil some water she had brought to make milk powder for Er Ya.
After drinking the milk, Er Ya was like she was drunk, looking adorable. She was drowsy and occasionally struggled. Finally, unable to resist the sleepiness, she fell asleep in Lin Ying's arms.
Lin Ying unfolded the blanket in Er Ya's basket, put Er Ya inside, and then wrapped her up. To prevent Er Ya from bumping into things on the way, Lin Ying had placed small, homemade cushions in both the front and back of the basket.
Wrapped in cushions, although sitting inside isn't as comfortable as lying down, it's still more comfortable than Lin Ying hugging her.
After feeding the two tiger cubs and giving them some more spiritual spring water, Lin Ying took the two rabbits the cubs couldn't finish, the three fish she had caught, and the chicken that had crashed into a tree. She then sent the cubs away and prepared to descend the mountain.
Lin Ying pulled the car to the hillside and slowly dragged it down the mountain, trying to get it out of her grasp.
After descending to the back of the mountain, we need to go up another slope to reach the outer mountain where the military wives usually live, and then go down another slope to reach Lin Ying's house.
The car pulled Lin Ying down the mountain, and Lin Ying pulled the car up the mountain.
The car wasn't big, but three of them together made quite a lot.
Fortunately, it was lunchtime, so there weren't many people when Lin Ying arrived, but there were still some.
After greeting the people she knew, Lin Ying went back.
When Lin Ying returned, she saw Shuanzi sitting on the swing by himself, with no other children around. At that moment, Lin Ying felt a pang of sadness.
She came back ahead of schedule. If she hadn't, would Shuanzi have just sat here waiting?
Lin Ying, though not a mother herself, has already experienced the bitterness of motherhood.
Shuanzi was actually quite happy to see Lin Ying back, rather than Lin Ying's wild imagination.
"Auntie, you're back?"
Lin Ying nodded: "You're back. Did you eat the breakfast your aunt left for you?"
Shuanzi nodded: "I ate it!"
Lin Ying looked at Shuanzi and asked, "There are no children around, why are you still sitting here?"
Shuanzi chuckled: "The handsome young man went back to eat. He'll be here soon. Everyone else will be here soon, so I want to play for a while before they arrive, otherwise I'll have to wait in line later."
Hearing this, Lin Ying finally felt a little better.
"Alright, you can play now. Your auntie needs to tidy all up."
"Auntie, let me help you!"
Lin Ying chuckled, "What can you do, you're so tiny? Go play. You can help your aunt when you're older."
Shuanzi scratched his head upon hearing this: "Alright then."
Lin Ying had already finished weeding her vegetable garden two weeks ago before going to Zhao Qinghuai's hometown. She planned to pile firewood there this year. As for winter, the vegetable planting boxes she made last year were still there; she could plant some vegetables there then.
The tripods were raised off the ground, and the items arranged neatly on top for ventilation. Lin Ying's cart didn't seem to have much; they only occupied a small space.
After putting Er Ya on the kang (a heated brick bed), Lin Ying was worried about leaving Er Ya at home, so she decided not to go up the mountain in the afternoon. Instead, she stayed home and cleaned up all the mushrooms she had collected.
Seeing that there was still time, Lin Ying tidied up the basement again. She took out the straw mats used last year, as well as various other things, and even the jars for pickling vegetables.
It's that time of year again to store grain.
A while ago, Lin Ying pickled some vegetables, and today she plans to make canned pears.
Let's make canned pears from the wild pears we picked today. With the children here this year, they should enjoy them.
She was making canned goods and cleaning the basement. Lin Ying also took the opportunity to clean the stove in the room. Because she had been taking showers, the stove in the house had been used all the time. Lin Ying mainly cleaned the stoves for the underfloor heating and the heated kang (a traditional Chinese bed).
Around one o'clock, Er Ya was woken up by the sound of birds suffocating, and her cries were incredibly loud. She immediately called Lin Ying, who was busy outside, back home.
Seeing Lin Ying return, the little figure, with tears streaming down its face, looked at her with a wronged expression.
Lin Ying took her to pee, and the little girl's face instantly brightened up in May.
Lin Ying carried Er Ya into a basket and hung it on a pillar in the kitchen shed outside. There were children playing outside, and she found it lively watching from there.
Lin Ying then busied herself setting up the shed. There wasn't enough time to go up the mountain, so Lin Ying decided to get the shed up while she still had some time.
Last year's work was a bit rushed, so Lin Ying wants to do a better job this year, especially the west wall. There's a heated wall and a large chimney there. The underfloor heating chimney is there, emitting smoke 24 hours a day.
That area has been paved. It would be a waste not to build a shed there.
However, setting up a shed on the hardened ground was somewhat troublesome. Considering the heavy snow in winter, Lin Ying still planned to make openings in the ground and bury the wood underground.
Lin Ying enjoys woodworking, and whenever she has time, she goes up the mountain to get some wood. There's no shortage of pillars in the house.
Soon, Lin Ying buried several pillars. Except for the east wall, pillars were erected on the other three sides, with the plan to build a shed later.
Some of the straw mats used last year were damaged, so Lin Ying used as many of the usable ones as possible on the back wall, and covered the broken ones on the tripod.
As for the others who didn't have straw mats, Lin Ying planned to buy some when she went to town.
She's currently setting up the shed's frame. Luckily, the frames from last year's shed are still usable; otherwise, Lin Ying probably wouldn't even have enough nails.
