Chapter 120 The Uninvited Guest

His eyes were full of curiosity and envy.

"Lin Ying, you just came back from town? Oh my, you bought so much stuff." The speaker was the wife of the former Su Yun's wife, who was now the commander of the Third Regiment.

Watching her walk towards him with such familiarity, Lin Ying felt every cell in her body screaming "Don't touch me!" This thought made Lin Ying chuckle; some sayings from later generations really are quite useful.

"Has your sister-in-law eaten?"

"No, they didn't wake up until midday, and they're not hungry at all."

Just as she finished speaking, an eight-year-old girl came out from behind her, clutching her stomach: "Mom, when are you going to cook? I'm hungry."

Lin Ying quickly said, "Then I'll head back first, sister-in-law. The kids at home haven't eaten yet. Haha."

After saying that, Lin Ying left immediately. She moved as fast as if a mad dog was chasing her.

Lin Ying never expected that a simple polite greeting would lead to her being stalked by a persistent pest.

Lin Ying bought a lot of things, and in the afternoon, after her two children took a nap, she started getting busy. She washed all the vegetables that needed to be pickled and let them drain.

Then they started setting up straw mats there.

Just as Lin Ying climbed onto the shelf to set up the straw mat, she heard someone calling from outside the door: "Lin Ying, little sister. Are you home?"

Hearing that familiar voice, Lin Ying instinctively trembled. Afraid that she would disturb the child if she didn't make a sound, Lin Ying quickly whispered, "Yes, sister-in-law, I'm here. You can just come in."

Unexpectedly, after this person came in and found Lin Ying, he started talking loudly: "Girl, what are you doing up so high? These are all jobs for grown men. Come down and let's chat for a while."

Lin Ying couldn't help but complain inwardly, but still said, "My husband Zhao isn't here, and with winter approaching, we can't afford to leave without getting things done. Sister-in-law, what brings you here? You see, I'm quite busy too."

"Oh, what could it be? Just dropping by for a visit."

Lin Ying was about to say, "Could you please keep your voice down? The kids are still sleeping," when she heard Er Ya crying.

Lin Ying quickly jumped down from the shelf and went into the room.

Unexpectedly, the man followed them inside, saying as they walked, "Oh my, the girl's house even has a sewing machine? And a metal box. She even has two thermos flasks."

As he spoke, he followed Lin Ying into the bedroom and, without hesitation, slipped off his shoes and climbed onto the kang (a heated brick bed) in Lin Ying's house.

Lin Ying felt her scalp tingling, but looking at Er Ya who was crying uncontrollably, she couldn't care less about that for the time being.

"Sweetie, don't cry. Were you scared? Oh, you wet the bed? It's okay, we'll change your clothes and you'll be fine."

"Oh dear, girl, why are you talking so much to such a young child? Besides, she's just a little girl, someone else's child, and your husband isn't even here. Why be so meticulous? Just let it slide."

The voice woke Shuanzi up again, but he didn't cry; he just looked at the person with a puzzled expression.

Lin Ying finally couldn't hold back anymore. Although the two children were still young, they had lost their parents, especially Shuanzi. Seeing his mother die would inevitably cause him psychological trauma. Lin Ying had worked so hard to make the child happy every day, but this person came and said all this.

“Sister-in-law, if you have something to say, just say so. If not, I won’t keep you any longer. You see, I’m quite busy and really can’t find the time to entertain you. Also, your voice is too loud; it scared the child so much that he wet the bed. The child is afraid of you, so if you don’t need to come again, please don’t come. If you need something, just have someone pass on the message.”

Lin Ying's words were anything but polite; as an adult, she could naturally tell the difference between good and bad advice.

Those who were planning to show off to the new military spouses now felt incredibly embarrassed.

The woman, who had been beaming with joy, instantly fell silent: "How can you be so tactless? I've come to your house for a visit, and this is how you treat your guests?"

Looking at the two children who hadn't had enough sleep, Lin Ying really lost her temper: "You're not welcome here, are you? Winter is almost here, and I haven't prepared anything. I haven't even had time to make winter clothes for the kids. I really don't have time to sit here and chat with you."

"Hey girl, what's wrong? I hear a commotion over here. What happened?" Li Yue'e said as she walked inside.
