Chapter 212 Two Years Later

Looking at Haoyu's proud little face, Lin Ying felt her gloom dissipate a lot. She couldn't help but reach out and pat his head, saying with a smile, "My Haoyu is really great! But we can't be proud just because we did well on this test. Studying is a long marathon, and we have to keep working hard."

Haoyu nodded vigorously, his eyes sparkling with confidence: "I know, Mom. I will study hard and learn lots and lots of knowledge so I can protect Mom and my younger siblings in the future!"

If there's anything he's interested in, it's weapons. Now that they don't need to go out, Lin Ying takes him to study various ancient mechanical weapons. Unexpectedly, Zhao Qinghuai took the things Haoyu researched and experimented with them, and later even brought back a prize money for him.

Shuanzi, on the other hand, was interested in woodworking.

Lin Ying herself knew woodworking, so she didn't particularly like it, and she wouldn't mind becoming a carpenter in the future. Therefore, Lin Ying specially bought a set of children's tools for Shuanzi and taught him how to use them step by step.

As for Er Ya, she was interested in medicine. To be precise, she was interested in poisons.

This little one has a natural sensitivity to poisons, making learning them very easy. But Lin Ying naturally wouldn't let her only learn about poisons; she'd either let her learn everything or none at all.

Of course, it was Er Ya who compromised in the end.

As for Liu Zi, perhaps because he is still too young, apart from being naturally good at martial arts, he is only half-baked in everything else.

He would learn anything Lin Ying taught him, but he wasn't as good as Hao Yu at weaponry, as good as Shuanzi at carpentry, and as good as Er Ya at medicine. However, Liu Zi was still young, so Lin Ying didn't force him.

Just assume he's curious about everything.

Aside from educating her children, Lin Ying spent the rest of her time researching the Five Elements Space and the esoteric books she had brought back. Lin Ying discovered that she could learn about the Five Elements and Eight Trigrams, but as for those mysterious talismans and ghost stories, she simply couldn't learn them.

Perhaps it's because she doesn't believe in these things.

In addition, Lin Ying explored the entire Five Elements Space and discovered that it was actually much larger than the Medicine Field Space.

Perhaps because the Five Elements Space is able to generate endlessly, apart from the very center where the Five Elements are clearly visible, the areas further back are actually a mixture of the Five Elements, forming a small world.

It was only in the small world behind that Lin Ying discovered that this was where the ancestor usually rested in the space.

In this little world, there is a winding stream with crystal-clear water, revealing smooth pebbles at the bottom. Various exotic flowers and plants grow along the stream, their colors vibrant and eye-catching, emitting a faint fragrance. A gentle breeze blows, and the flowers and plants sway softly, as if welcoming Lin Ying, the intruder.

Not far away, there was a lush forest, the trees tall and straight, their branches intertwined to form a natural canopy. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting golden beams that filled the forest with a mysterious atmosphere. Lin Ying walked into the forest and discovered that there were many kinds of trees, some of which she had never seen before. Each one was like a work of art carefully sculpted by nature.

Further in, Lin Ying came across a simple, old-fashioned hut. The walls were made of stone, and the roof was thatched. Although it looked somewhat rudimentary, it exuded a sense of tranquility and peace. She knew this must be where her ancestor usually rested.

Lin Ying slowly walked to the front of the small house and gently pushed open the wooden door. The door creaked softly, as if telling a story of bygone years. The interior was simply furnished: a wooden bed, a table, and a few chairs. Besides these, there was a bookshelf filled with various books. Lin Ying walked to the bookshelf, randomly picked up a book, and opened it. She found that it contained profound theories and cultivation insights about the Five Elements and Eight Trigrams. In addition, there was a strange book containing information on ingredient proportions.

It was a special furnace inside the courtyard. Lin Ying could feel the intense heat inside even from a distance. It was clearly drawn from the Five Elements Fire.

Lin Ying then realized that the ancestor must have forged the sharp scissors here, but as for where the cloth came from, Lin Ying did not know yet.

Seeing the materials beside the furnace, Lin Ying suddenly remembered the strange book and it all became clear. It turned out that the sharp scissors weren't made of a single material, but rather a mixture of several.

In 1973, quotations from the Communist Party were phased out. People no longer needed to memorize them when they went out, and many people were rehabilitated.

Although the shadow of the era has not dissipated, it has given many people hope for the future.

However, in that same year, Zhao Qinghuai was to be transferred to Beijing. Lin Ying had two choices: one was to go to Beijing with Zhao Qinghuai and then join his army; the other was to stay at home.

Lin Ying was stunned when she heard the news. She looked at Zhao Qinghuai, her eyes filled with conflict and hesitation. Going to Beijing meant a complete upheaval in her life; she would have to leave this familiar town, her neighbors and relatives, and everything she had poured her heart and soul into. But if she stayed home, she couldn't bear to be separated from Zhao Qinghuai, and she worried that the distance would affect their relationship and family.

"Qinghuai, this is all so sudden, I really don't know what to choose." Lin Ying said slowly, her voice a little hoarse.

Zhao Qinghuai stepped forward, gently took Lin Ying's hand, and said with a tender yet firm gaze, "No matter what you choose, I will respect your decision. If you don't want to go, I will find a way to come back and spend more time with you."

Lin Ying leaned on Zhao Qinghuai's shoulder, lost in thought. She thought about the children's education. Going to Beijing would give them access to better educational resources, which would undoubtedly be extremely beneficial to their development. But they already had their own friends and familiar environment here. Would they be able to adapt to a different place? And then there were the two tiger cubs; if they went to Beijing, they would be confined to her space and unable to leave.
