Episode 120: Photo Bombardment

Broken trust

I. The Illusions and Undercurrents of Daily Life

Zhong Hua had been feeling something was off lately. Ah Yu's whereabouts had become increasingly mysterious; he often didn't answer her phone, and she would reply to her messages only after a long time. Every time they met, there was a hint of evasion in her eyes. However, Zhong Hua tried to convince himself that perhaps it was work pressure that was causing this.

That afternoon, the sunlight lazily streamed into Zhong Hua's apartment. She sat on the soft sofa, a steaming cup of coffee in her hand, her laptop on the coffee table in front of her. Despite a vague unease in her heart, she tried to maintain the calm of her life and planned to handle some work matters.

Without thinking, Zhong Hua refreshed her social media page. The moment the page loaded, her gaze was immediately drawn to a post by Lin Wanqing. The scene in the photo was extremely ambiguous; it was a blurry bed photo. Although the image was hazy, the butterfly-shaped birthmark on the man's lower back was clearly visible. And that birthmark was all too familiar to Zhong Hua; it was Ah Yu's unique mark.

In the comments section, the pinned message was like a sharp blade, piercing straight into Zhong Hua's heart: "Thank you for your companionship, Mr. @AhYu. Please guide me for the rest of my life." Zhong Hua felt his breath catch in his throat, his mind went blank, and he almost dropped his coffee cup.

II. Confirmation of Heartbreak

Her hands trembled as she instinctively zoomed in on the image, hoping it was just a nightmare, that she was seeing things. As the image zoomed in, the texture of the bed sheet became clearer. The delicate pattern was exactly the same as the bed sheet pattern from the suburban villa, where she had many memories with Ah Yu, but now it had become evidence that stung her.

Zhong Hua refused to believe what she was seeing. She frantically grabbed her phone and dialed Ah Yu's number. But when the call connected, a cold, mechanical female voice answered, "The number you dialed is currently switched off." Again and again, the same voice responded.

Tears welled up uncontrollably in Zhong Hua's eyes, blurring her vision. Her body began to tremble uncontrollably, and the pain in her heart overwhelmed her like a surging tide. Memories of her time with Ah Yu flashed through her mind, those sweet moments now seeming like a cruel irony.

"How could this happen... how could this happen..." Zhong Hua murmured to herself, her voice trembling with sobs, filled with despair and helplessness. She felt her world collapse at that moment, all her trust and expectations vanished into thin air.

III. The Sting of Memories

In his extreme anguish, Zhong Hua's thoughts involuntarily drifted back to the very beginning of his acquaintance with A Yu. They had met by chance at a friend's gathering. A Yu, dressed in a simple white shirt, had a sunny and warm smile, and her eyes shone with sincerity and kindness, instantly captivating Zhong Hua's attention.

After the party, Ah Yu asked Zhong Hua for his contact information, and their story began from there. They strolled together along the park paths, sharing their dreams and secrets; they waited for the sunrise together by the sea, watching the brilliant dawn light fall on each other's faces; they cooked together in their cozy little house, and although their cooking skills were not great, it was full of laughter.

Later, their feelings deepened, and Ah Yu introduced Zhong Hua to her family. Zhong Hua also considered Ah Yu his future life partner. However, from some point onward, everything began to subtly change. The appearance of Lin Wanqing, like an ominous shadow, gradually loomed over their lives.

Zhong Hua recalled the scenes of seeing Ah Yu and Lin Wanqing together, and felt as if countless needles were piercing her heart at once. She had chosen to believe Ah Yu's explanation and ignore her unease, but now, this bed photo had ruthlessly shattered all her illusions.

IV. Anger and Struggle

Anger gradually spread through Zhong Hua's heart. She hated Ah Yu's betrayal and Lin Wanqing's provocation. She wanted to rush out immediately, confront them, and demand an explanation. However, her body felt as if it were nailed to the sofa, unable to move.

The inner struggle tormented Zhong Hua. On one hand, she could not accept the fact that the person she loved had betrayed her; on the other hand, she felt as if she had fallen into a huge conspiracy, and things did not seem as simple as they appeared.

"Why? Why did you do this to me?" Zhong Hua shouted at the empty room, her voice echoing, but receiving no response. She felt an unprecedented loneliness and helplessness, as if the whole world had abandoned her.

Torn between pain and anger, Zhong Hua's emotions gradually spiraled out of control. She picked up her phone, wanting to call a friend to confide in them, but her finger hovered over the contacts, unsure of who to call. She felt her ordeal was so unbearable that she couldn't bring herself to speak of it.

V. The Frenzy of Verification

Zhong Hua suddenly realized that perhaps others might know some of the truth. She quickly turned on her computer and began frantically searching for information related to A Yu and Lin Wanqing. She sifted through various social media platforms and company documents, hoping to find some clues to prove that it was all a misunderstanding.

She noticed that Lin Wanqing had been frequently attending high-end social events lately, and each time she appeared, she was accompanied by several business tycoons. Zhong Hua's heart skipped a beat, and she guessed that there might be complex interests hidden behind this.

Zhong Hua recalled the Project 203 that Ah Yu had mentioned before. It seemed that his behavior had become strange ever since that project. She began to look up information about Project 203 and discovered that it involved a huge sum of money, and the investors behind it seemed to have intricate connections with Gu Yanting.

"Could all of this be related to Project 203?" Zhong Hua wondered to herself. She felt as if she had found some clues, but the fog in front of her seemed to be getting thicker and thicker.
