In the city's most luxurious hotel banquet hall, a grand engagement banquet was about to begin. A dazzling crystal chandelier, like a cascading galaxy, cast a dreamlike glow, illuminating every meticulously decorated corner. On snow-white tablecloths, exquisite silver cutlery was laid out, and crystal wine glasses refracted iridescent light, seemingly proclaiming the extraordinary nature of this banquet. The banquet hall was filled with vibrant flowers—roses, lilies, and tulips intertwined, their rich fragrance permeating the air. On the enormous stage, adorned with golden silk and shimmering colored lights, the names "Zhong Hua" and "Gu Yanting" were elegantly inscribed in cursive script on the backdrop, seemingly proclaiming this perfect union.
Guests, dressed in their finest attire, entered the banquet hall one after another. The men were impeccably tailored in suits, while the women wore glamorous evening gowns, their jewelry sparkling like stars fallen to earth. However, beneath this jubilant atmosphere and dazzling display of wealth, an undercurrent of tension was brewing.
Gu Yanting, dressed in a custom-made black suit with a sparkling diamond brooch at his lapel, strode confidently, a smug expression on his face. His gaze swept over the guests, his heart filled with satisfaction at the engagement banquet and anticipation of controlling Zhong Hua in the future. In his eyes, Zhong Hua was merely a pawn in his business empire, and this engagement was a step towards greater power and wealth. He chatted and laughed with the business elites around him, his words brimming with boasting about his business achievements and ambitions for future business ventures.
"With this cooperation with the Zhong Group, plus this marriage alliance, my business empire will surely reach new heights," Gu Yanting said confidently to a gray-haired tycoon beside him.
"Young Master Gu is indeed extraordinary. Not only is Zhong Hua beautiful, but her family's influence can also be used by you. Congratulations!" The wealthy businessman smiled obsequiously and raised his glass to toast Gu Yanting.
Zhong Hua, dressed in a pristine white wedding gown and an exquisite veil, was beautiful yet tinged with a sense of melancholy. Her eyes revealed helplessness and pain, each step feeling like a blow to her own heart. Forced into an engagement with Gu Yanting, her heart remained firmly with Ah Yu. She looked at the bustling scene around her, yet felt as if she were in another world, overwhelmed by longing and inner turmoil. She mechanically smiled and socialized in the crowd, secretly hoping this farce would end soon.
In an inconspicuous corner of the banquet hall, Ah Yu was intently watching everything on the stage. Dressed in casual black attire, he stood out starkly from the luxurious atmosphere around him. His eyes were resolute and fervent, burning with anger towards Gu Yanting and deep affection for Zhong Hua. He knew that today would be the day that changed everything, and he couldn't stand by and watch Zhong Hua fall into Gu Yanting's clutches.
Standing beside Ah Yu were several of his close friends, a group of passionate and loyal people. They were all dressed in civilian clothes, their eyes alert, awaiting Ah Yu's instructions.
"Ah Yu, are we really going to do this? This is Gu Yanting's territory; he's bound to be very cautious," one of his friends said worriedly.
"I can't let Zhong Hua marry this bastard. Even if it costs me my life, I'll take her away," Ah Yu said through gritted teeth, her gaze never leaving Zhong Hua.
“Okay, we brothers will stand with you! We’ll fight them to the death!” Another friend clenched his fist, his eyes filled with determination.
Ah Yu nodded slightly, then began to whisper the plan to his friends. They were to act at the most crucial moment of the engagement ceremony, taking advantage of the chaos to break through Gu Yanting's defenses and take Zhong Hua away. Ah Yu had been preparing for this plan for a long time. He had collected the layout of the banquet hall, figured out the patrol patterns of Gu Yanting's security personnel, and prepared vehicles and subsequent hiding places.
As time passed, the engagement ceremony was about to begin. The emcee walked onto the stage and announced the official start of the engagement ceremony with passionate words. Gu Yanting walked triumphantly to the center of the stage, waved to the guests below, and then turned around to wait for Zhong Hua to appear.
Zhong Hua took a deep breath and, accompanied by her bridesmaids, slowly walked towards the stage. With each step, she could feel her heart bleeding. When she reached Gu Yanting's side, she didn't even dare to look up at him, just staring blankly at the audience, her eyes empty.
"Now, please let the newlyweds exchange engagement rings." The emcee's voice rang out, pulling Zhong Hua back to reality from her daze.
Just as Gu Yanting picked up the ring, preparing to put it on Zhong Hua's finger, the banquet hall doors were suddenly kicked open. Everyone was drawn to this unexpected turn of events and turned to look. Ah Yu and his friends rushed in like a whirlwind.
"Zhong Hua, I'm here to take you away!" Ah Yu shouted loudly, her voice echoing in the banquet hall.
Chaos erupted instantly. Guests scattered in panic, and security personnel quickly surrounded them, trying to stop Ah Yu and the others. Gu Yanting's expression changed drastically; he hadn't expected Ah Yu to dare to openly kidnap someone at his engagement party.
"Catch them! Don't let them get away!" Gu Yanting roared angrily, his eyes flashing with a fierce light.
Ah Yu and his friends showed no fear, and they engaged in a fierce struggle with the security personnel. Ah Yu was agile and quickly took down several of the security guards who rushed to the front. While fighting, he charged towards Zhong Hua.
Zhong Hua watched as Ah Yu rushed in, disregarding everything for her sake, and tears welled up in her eyes. Her hesitation vanished instantly, and she ran towards Ah Yu without a second thought.
"Zhong Hua, how dare you!" Upon seeing this, Gu Yanting reached out to grab Zhong Hua, but only managed to grab a corner of her wedding dress.
