Shen Jingshao did not turn back to look at Li Wenbo's reaction.
He carried her to the shade of a nearby tree, let her sit on a stone bench under the shade, then squatted down, held her calves, and placed her feet on his knees.
The shady spots on the mountain were cooler. Wen Yixing looked down at him, and sunlight filtered through the layers of leaves, scattering dappled light.
Her shoes were covered in mud from the hike.
The shoes brushed against his suit trousers, soiling his clean ones.
Wen Yixing instinctively tried to pull her foot back, but he grabbed her calf instead. "Don't move."
As he said this, Shen Jingshao took off her shoes and placed his warm hands on her ankles to examine them carefully.
