Chapter 95 It Hurts

Shen Jingshao did not turn back to look at Li Wenbo's reaction.

He carried her to the shade of a nearby tree, let her sit on a stone bench under the shade, then squatted down, held her calves, and placed her feet on his knees.

The shady spots on the mountain were cooler. Wen Yixing looked down at him, and sunlight filtered through the layers of leaves, scattering dappled light.

Her shoes were covered in mud from the hike.

The shoes brushed against his suit trousers, soiling his clean ones.

Wen Yixing instinctively tried to pull her foot back, but he grabbed her calf instead. "Don't move."

As he said this, Shen Jingshao took off her shoes and placed his warm hands on her ankles to examine them carefully.

People often pass by on the road ahead, and they often look this way out of curiosity.

Wen Yixing pursed her lips, then turned her head away to clear her mind, staring blankly at something else.

Shen Jingshao remained silent, and the two of them went about their own business without uttering a word.

It wasn't until Wen Yixing felt Shen Jingshao moving her ankle that she realized he had probably twisted it, as it was painful and awkward.

The pain was bearable at first, but Shen Jingshao's movement made it even worse.

Shen Jingshao heard her soft groan and looked up at her.

Her brows were furrowed, and fine beads of sweat appeared on her forehead from the pain.

"Does it hurt?"

Afraid that he would continue to exert force, Wen Yixing nodded and mumbled an "Mmm".

Shen Jingshao lowered his eyes, avoiding her gaze, but his voice softened uncontrollably, "You have to endure the pain."

Wen Yixing didn't want to talk anymore, she pursed her lips and remained silent.

She didn't know how Shen Jingshao had done it, but after the pain subsided, her ankle did feel much better, at least not as uncomfortable as before.

A slight warmth appeared on her ankle. Shen Jingshao took her shoes and helped her put them on. Wen Yixing subconsciously withdrew her foot.

Seeing Shen Jingshao look up, Wen Yixing said in a low voice, "I'll dress myself."

After putting on her shoes, Wen Yixing stood up and saw Shen Jingshao standing nearby, watching her.

Wen Yixing limped a few steps toward him and said softly, "Thank you."

Shen Jingshao remained silent.

"Well then, I'll head back now."

Shen Jingshao remained silent.

It seems he was really angry this time.

Wen Yixing didn't know how to coax him.

After thinking about it, I decided it was better not to appear in front of him.

She turned around and slowly walked forward.

But before she had taken more than a few steps, Shen Jingshao came over, stood in front of her, and bent down.

Wen Yixing fell onto his broad back.

He remained silent, carrying her on his back as they walked forward.

"What are you doing?" Wen Yixing was a little confused.

After a while, she heard Shen Jingshao's deep voice: "I'll take you back."

-----

Wen Yixing was carried on Shen Jingshao's back the whole way.

When we got back to the vicinity of the alley, we ran into Li Hongmei chatting with her neighbor.

Wen Yixing could also hear Li Hongmei say, "This child's conditions are indeed quite good, but we don't have the final say in matters concerning children. Our Yixing probably doesn't have any plans to date right now."

"Yes, she just got divorced, has a child, and isn't in a hurry to find a partner. These past few days, so many people have come to introduce their friends to Yixing that she's been woken up every noon and can't get a good night's sleep at all."

“We have good conditions, high education, and strong work ability. Why do we have to find a terrible man? We are fine on our own.”

Wen Yixing could sense that Shen Jingshao paused slightly after arriving at this side of the alley.

Wen Yixing thought he didn't know where her home was, so she pointed to the red gate not far away and whispered, "That's my home."

Shen Jingshao responded and led her in that direction.

Not far away, the person opposite Li Hongmei noticed the commotion and patted Li Hongmei on the shoulder: "Isn't that Yixing?"

Li Hongmei turned around and saw that Wen Yixing was being carried back by a strange man.

With her trousers rolled up, the swelling on her fair ankles was particularly noticeable.

Li Hongmei exclaimed "Oh dear!" and took two steps forward with some concern. Remembering that there were other people with her, she turned back and said, "I'll go see what's wrong."

The girls around me waved and said, "Go on, go on."

Li Hongmei hurried home, and as soon as she opened the door, she saw the tall man supporting Wen Yixing's arm, helping her sit in the shade to rest.

A man came to the house, and Li Hongmei, out of curiosity, couldn't help but take a few more glances.

Shen Jingshao had naturally noticed Li Hongmei's gaze. After Wen Yixing was seated, he spoke: "Hello, Auntie, my name is Shen Jingshao."

Li Hongmei looked at Shen Jingshao, then at Wen Yixing, as if she understood something. She smiled and said, "Hello, hello."

Seeing that Shen Jingshao greeted her, Li Hongmei moved over a chair and said warmly, "You must be Xiaoxing's friend, right? Come on, sit down and rest for a while, it's the hottest time of day!"

After saying that, Li Hongmei looked at Wen Yixing beside her and whispered with a touch of heartache:

"How did you twist your ankle? Which way did you go? No wonder I didn't see you when I got home."

As she spoke, Li Hongmei bent down to look at Wen Yixing's swollen ankle.

"Oh my goodness, it's so swollen! I need to take you to see a doctor. There's a very skilled acupuncturist and massage doctor here."

Wen Yixing drank some water and, seeing how anxious Li Hongmei was, said gently, "It's alright, it doesn't hurt anymore. Shen Jingshao just helped me with it."

Upon hearing this, Shen Jingshao glanced at her and then said to Li Hongmei, "We still need to see a doctor."
