The two of them took a walk and bickered, which eased the tension.
Ling Ruoke was inherently a tolerant person, or perhaps too soft-hearted. She always forgave others' mistakes quickly and forgot them just as quickly. Besides, in her heart, Wild Wolf was ultimately a much better person.
The two of them took a stroll and returned, and it was already quite late. For ordinary families with a regular schedule, it would be bedtime by then.
Ling Ruoke had just finished showering and was drying her hair as she walked out of the bathroom. She'd only taken a few steps when she noticed another person in the room. "What are you doing in my room?"
"Hey!" The wolf slightly raised his right hand, a small black thing hanging on his middle finger. It looked like a piece of clothing.
"What? For me?" Ling Ruoke approached suspiciously.
The wolf nodded and handed the item to her. "Take it."
A silky, slightly cool touch glided across her fingers before falling to the ground. In that short time, Ling Ruoke could clearly see what it was: a camisole nightgown paired with a thong.
boom--
Ling Ruoke's face flushed crimson, like a tomato bursting open, and she glared at the culprit with a mixture of shame and anger. "You—"
"You haven't forgotten, have you?" The wolf slowly leaned down, and as she dodged, he hooked his left arm around her waist.
Ling Ruoke was so frightened that she couldn't speak, not even daring to breathe, and just stared blankly at him. He suddenly seemed like a different person, wild and domineering.
The two of them maintained this position for quite a while.
The wolf touched her face with his right hand, and slowly curled the corners of his mouth into a smile. "Go inside and change your clothes, I'll be waiting." He bent down, picked up his things, and took her wrist, placing it in her hand.
His tone sounded ambiguous, making one blush and feel awkward.
Ling Ruoke stared blankly at the object in her palm, remaining motionless for a long time. She silently clicked her tongue, slowly raising her head to look at his wry smile. "Is...does it really have to be this way?"
The wolf looked down into her moist eyes, pleading and pitiful. Those tearful eyes seemed to see right into your soul. Don't ask…
Ling Ruoke keenly noticed that Wild Wolf's expression was somewhat dazed. But before she could confirm it, he suddenly reverted to that smug look.
He raised his index finger and waved it in front of her, then grabbed her shoulder, turned her around, and pushed her towards the bathroom. "You can't go without wearing it, go change quickly."
Ling Ruoke was somewhat bewildered by his unpredictable nature. She took a few steps in a daze, then stopped. Turning around, she looked at him with a resolute expression. "Let's change the terms. I won't wear it."
Wild Wolf slowly narrowed his eyes, looked at her for a long time, and slowly nodded. "Alright, I'll give the order now to have someone kill Sharp Blade."
"You—" Ling Ruoke was so angry she couldn't speak. Suddenly, as if giving up, she rushed into the bathroom like a cannonball.
Wild Wolf silently watched the bathroom door close. In her heart, the sharp blade was more important than anything else. Just as in Mo Wen's heart, he was everything.
I slowly turned my head; outside the window, it was pitch black, heavy and oppressive.
He slowly walked to the window and leaned against it. It was unclear whether he was gazing at the night or lost in thought. His silhouette was lonely, even somewhat desolate.
Ling Ruoke lingered in the bathroom for a long time. Since no one outside was urging her, she didn't go out. She sat on the toilet seat, lost in thought, her sexy and alluring camisole nightgown long since tossed aside.
I don't know how much time passed, but then someone knocked on the door and said, "I'll give you three seconds. If you don't come out in three seconds, I'm coming in. One...two..."
Ling Ruoke stormed over angrily and flung the door open. She glared at him, her cheeks puffed out like steamed buns.
Wild Wolf raised an eyebrow, then chuckled, exasperated. "You dawdled in there for ages, and this is what you get?"
"I won't change, I won't change, I just won't change! You might as well kill me!" She stomped her feet in a somewhat tantrum, her eyes showing defiance, but clearly lacking confidence.
"You really don't want to change?"
Ling Ruoke nodded, a glimmer of hope in her eyes.
"Shy? Or do you want to keep this body for Sharp Blade?" In her heart, she completely belonged to Sharp Blade, he was sure of it.
Ling Ruoke didn't know how to answer. She disliked the feeling of being stripped naked. If she could, she would naturally wish to remain pure and innocent, belonging only to Qingfeng. But it seemed she had no choice. She could escape today, but she didn't know if she could escape tomorrow.
Ling Ruoke suddenly felt extremely tired. Facing Cang Weiwo, facing the wild wolf, and even facing Xu An, she seemed constantly worried about her body being possessed. It was like a recurring nightmare, with no end in sight.
"Here's what we'll do. Every night you run away, you stab yourself once. How long you can last is up to you. Hmm?"
"Okay." She didn't know if this decision was right or wrong, nor how long she could hold out. Right now, she really didn't want to act like a prostitute in front of him.
The wolf turned and went out, returning shortly with a knife. It was a dagger, gleaming coldly, quite frightening. "The first strike will be to the heart."
Ling Ruoke was taken aback, but said nothing. She slowly took the knife and saw her own reflection in the image of the sword spirit. Life is always full of so much helplessness, seemingly without end.
She slowly brought the scalpel tip towards her chest, remembering what the female doctor had said before: the heart is below the chest. The scalpel tip moved slowly downwards and then stopped.
Ling Ruoke looked up at the man opposite her, hoping to hear him say something to stop her, but he just watched quietly.
She closed her eyes and pressed her hand in forcefully. At the same time, a clanging sound rang out. Her hand went numb from the shock, and the knife fell to the ground with a loud thud.
"I've never seen such a stupid woman as you. Haven't you heard that it's better to live a miserable life than to die a good death? If faced with a choice between death and betrayal, 99% of men would prefer their woman to live. Only by living can there be a next step."
At that moment, he seemed like a kind and earnest older brother.
Ling Ruoke stared at him blankly, still somewhat unable to come to her senses. "You...you were testing me?"
“No!” He shook his head with a smile, moved closer to her face, and whispered, “I was just teasing you.”
"You, how could you be such a jerk!" She was so angry that she raised her foot to kick him, but he dodged it quickly. She continued to chase after him!
The wolf darted around the room, watching her angry face with a smile. Sometimes it's strange how our choices are made in the blink of an eye.
Ling Ruoke chased after him for a while, but failed to hit him and ended up panting heavily. She suddenly remembered that night in country X. "That night, were you just joking around too?"
"That night?" He looked on with a serious expression as he recalled the events.
"It was in country X, with those people from country X, in one of those weird rooms..."
"Oh, you mean that night?" A look of sudden realization crossed his face.
Even if Ling Ruoke was stupid, she knew he was doing it on purpose. "You—"
The wolf, however, happily patted her head. "What a silly child. What good can a sex scene do?"
Ling Ruoke raised her hand to hit him, but he grabbed her wrist. She then raised her leg to kick him, but he easily dodged it.
"Alright, silly girl, get some sleep. Tomorrow someone will take you somewhere, and once you get there, you won't be getting any sleep."
"Where?" Ling Ruoke stared at him warily.
"It's like hell on earth. You'll feel like you're living a life worse than death there. But coming out of hell is the beginning of your happiness."
He left those words behind, then closed the door and left.
Ling Ruoke stood there dumbfounded. A living hell? A fate worse than death? Why did she have such a bad feeling?
I nervously climbed back into bed and tossed and turned all night, unable to sleep well at all.
...
The next morning, as soon as Ling Ruoke walked down the stairs, she saw that besides the wolf, there was another person in the hall.
Ling Ruoke slowly walked down the stairs, secretly observing the other person. The other person also looked up at her, their gaze serious and sharp. She quickly looked away, not daring to look too obviously.
The other person didn't look away, continuing to scrutinize her intently. It felt like choosing something in a shopping mall.
"Come here." The wolf leaned lazily against the sofa and beckoned to her.
Ling Ruoke hurried over and sat down next to him. The man was sitting directly opposite her, his gaze fixed on her, sending chills down her spine.
"Is this the pumpkin you were talking about?" the other person asked, their voice cold; it was a girl.
She was dressed casually in camouflage, had a buzz cut, and striking features; if she didn't speak, you'd really think she was a man. Her aura was incredibly powerful.
Ling Ruoke was secretly astonished. At the same time, she heard the other party's contemptuous snort.
"Hmph, you really know how to cause me trouble! A pumpkin like this, even if it trains for a hundred years, will still just be a pumpkin!" She was clearly unhappy.
The wolf raised an eyebrow and smiled, saying, "You can do it. Because you're a cheetah."
Even if Ling Ruoke was slow-witted, she understood. Besides, she often heard Qingfeng and Fu Peigang talk about pumpkins. "The pumpkin you're talking about, you're not referring to me, are you?" she asked, pointing back at herself.
The man called Cheetah snorted coldly and fell silent. But his expression remained grim, as if she owed him millions.
The wolf didn't answer her question, but instead said, "Her name is Cheetah. From now on, you'll follow her, and she'll take you away soon. From now on, you're on your own."
"Go to a place like hell?" Ling Ruoke looked at him in confusion, still remembering what he had said last night.
The wolf nodded. "Yes, a hellish place."
Ling Ruoke thought that if she were to follow this man called Cheetah, she truly believed that place would be as terrifying as hell. "Why?"
“For no reason. Or, you can think of it as a… deal between us.” He whispered the word “deal” into her ear. “Maybe after you get through those hellish days, you’ll be able to see the person you want to see.”
Ling Ruoke stared at him blankly, her eyes unblinking. She was assessing the veracity of his words. However, she would never be able to discern any truth from them. Truth and falsehood, falsehood and truth, were all intertwined in his mood, leaving no trace.
If this is their deal, then she has to go. After all, he let her go last night.
"Won't do anything illegal or against your conscience? Won't sell your body?" Even though it's a transaction, she still needed to confirm. If she lost these basic things, how could she face living?
Before the wolf could answer, the cheetah snorted and said, "With your looks, even if you wanted to sell yourself, someone would have to give you a second glance."
Ling Ruoke frowned, not understanding why this person was speaking so harshly and unpleasantly. However, she didn't refute him. Since Wild Wolf said she would follow her, anyone with a modicum of intelligence would know not to oppose her, lest they suffer the consequences.
However, this person seems to be a soldier, and soldiers shouldn't do such a thing. But, without any physical examination or selection, could Wild Wolf really have put her into the army?
She looked at the wolf and whispered to confirm, "You...you're going to send me to the army?"
The wolf smiled slightly. "Yes. But it's my army, not the nation's."
Ling Ruoke was taken aback.
Just then, Shang Que came over to report that breakfast was ready.
So the three of them moved to the dining table.
During breakfast, Ling Ruoke noticed that the cheetah seemed to adhere to a set pattern even when eating. She observed that the number of bites it took to finish a bun and the time it took were always exactly the same. These were habits that only soldiers would develop.
The cheetah, which had been focused on eating, slowly raised its eyes when it caught Ruo Ke's gaze. Its cold gaze shot straight at her.
Ling Ruoke quickly averted her gaze. She couldn't help but wonder, was Wild Wolf going to train her to be like this? What for, as a bodyguard?
I have so many questions in my mind, but I never have the chance to ask them, and I don't even know if I'll get the answers.
A few minutes after breakfast.
The cheetah looked at the wolf. "Then I'll take the pumpkin with me."
The wolf nodded. Turning his gaze to Ruoke, he smiled and said, "Ruoke, I look forward to you coming out of hell."
He leaned in slowly, whispered in her ear, "If he comes looking for me, I won't let him see you, but I'll let him know you're doing well."
Ling Ruoke gave him a grateful glance. Then, like a chick, she was half-carried out by the cheetah and tossed into the convertible SUV parked at the door.
Before she could even speak, the cheetah sped away.
Ling Ruoke turned around, watching the empty doorway recede into the distance, a sense of panic rising within her. After turning the corner, she could see nothing at all. The car was moving very fast and was quite bumpy; she had to hold on tightly to avoid being thrown out.
Cheetah, his face dark, focused intently on driving, without uttering a sound.
The car quickly turned into the woods, where the road was uneven and bumpy, making Ling Ruoke feel as if her insides were about to burst out of her body. She pressed her lips tightly together, trying not to scream. She didn't want to hear the cheetah's cold snort, and she didn't want to be looked at with that look of utter contempt.
The uneven road seemed endless, with branches sticking out from it from time to time. As the car sped past, the branches left stinging marks on her skin, which hurt terribly.
Ling Ruoke felt dizzy. In her dazed state, she thought, no wonder she couldn't escape that day; the vastness of this forest was beyond her imagination. If she hadn't turned back that day, she would probably have been eaten by wild beasts.
Finally, the view gradually opened up. Before long, we could see something the size of a box in the distance; it must be a house.
When the car screeched to a halt, Ling Ruoke didn't even have time to see what was happening before she jumped out and vomited violently. She threw up everything she'd eaten yesterday, let alone breakfast. Her stomach felt like it was being churned in a blender, and tears welled in her eyes.
Unbeknownst to her, the cheetah behind her smirked, something flashing in its eyes.
After vomiting, he raised his hand to wipe his mouth and eyes. Turning around, he saw Cheetah leaning lazily against the car, his brows furrowed in a deep frown. "I'm sorry."
The cheetah, its face dark, strode forward. "A pumpkin is a pumpkin."
Ling Ruoke didn't have the strength to argue with her that she wasn't a pumpkin, so she could only hurry to catch up. The nausea hadn't subsided at all, but it was at least much better than before. As she ran to keep up with the cheetah's pace, she turned her head to look around.
This must be a military camp. You can tell from the military green tents, the off-road vehicles, and the bugle calls for training all around.
Ling Ruoke was led by the cheetah to a relatively small tent.
Cheetah took off the steamed bun and called out in a deep voice, "Xiao Zhuang, come in!"
"Yes, Captain!"
"Find a place and stuff this pumpkin inside."
"Report!"
"explain."
"Captain, she's a woman."
"What's wrong with her being a woman? Who told you to treat her like one?"
"Understood!" There are only men and livestock here, no women!
Ling Ruoke listened to their conversation in astonishment. She'd heard the saying, "In the army, women are treated like men, and men like animals." But was she really going to live in a dormitory with a bunch of men? How would she shower and change clothes?
She didn't have time to think it through before the man said "Come with me" and took her away.
She was quickly led to a tent and found her bed, the upper bunk. The tent was clean and tidy; everyone was gone, presumably out training.
Then, the man took her to collect her backpack and clothes.
"Change out of those clothes, quickly." The man gave the order and walked out.
"Is it here?" No one answered her question. She had no choice but to grab her clothes and run to a corner to quickly change. Fortunately, no one appeared during that time.
She changed her clothes and went outside. The man glanced at his watch and said, "Too slow! But you'll be faster."
That day, she was shown around to familiarize herself with her surroundings. Ling Ruoke's long hair was ruthlessly cut into a buzz cut. When the snip rang at her shoulder, she felt a mix of emotions. But the other person's hands didn't stop, and quickly finished cutting it off.
Ling Ruoke saw her buzz cut in the mirror and felt a surge of emotion, almost to the point of tears. But, she wasn't given any time to mourn her hair loss.
Around dinnertime, the man left. She sat alone in the tent waiting.
