Chapter 4 Dragon Boat and Local Indigenous Peoples

When he arrived on the deck, Pan Bufeng was shocked to see a large group of people retreating to the shore in the distance.

The people on the deck had seen clearly, and immediately someone shouted: "It's Prince Li, Prince Li and others!"

Pan Bufeng had already seen that Zhao Li and dozens of others were running towards the shore for their lives.

The leaves in the woods rustled, and Pan Bufeng saw natives, feathers stuck in their hair, their faces smeared, howling as they chased after him.

If the crew had not been accustomed to seeing all kinds of heat during their voyage, they would have thought they had seen a monster.

These natives were armed with sharpened sticks and bows and arrows. They were very skilled archers and immediately shot the two crew members to the ground.

Zhao Li fled to the shore with his men, desperate for their lives. There weren't many people who could frighten Prince Li so much. That was because Zhao Huan had once told him that when you get to Mexico, there might be cannibals there.

The worst part was that these natives were dressed exactly like Zhao Huan. How could Zhao Li not be afraid? It would be fine if they died, but if they were boiled and roasted after death, that would be too horrifying.

Zhao Li thought he was fearless, but he was terrified of these man-eating natives.

These natives are faster than monkeys, especially when running in the jungle. They even run barefoot, as if they are not afraid of the thorny plants in the jungle.

Pan Bufeng was secretly surprised by the number of natives. The branches were swaying all around, making it impossible to see exactly how many there were. A preliminary estimate put the number at least at three or four hundred.

This was a serious problem. The main ship had only 200 to 300 crew members at the shore, and the fleet behind was still at sea and would not be able to catch up for a while.

If these natives were to board the deck and occupy the main ship, the consequences would be disastrous.

Finally, Zhao Li and his men had managed to escape to the beach, but more than a dozen of the crew members had been shot and fell to the ground. It seemed that the natives had not shot them to death, but had instead shot them in the thighs, shoulders, or other places.

It seems so. Dead bodies will stink and spoil easily in this tropical area. If you catch them alive, you can kill them right away and eat them for a few more days.

Zhao Li and his men fled to the beach, and the natives behind them chased them there. Pan Bufeng gasped. There were more than three or four hundred natives on the shore, and there were probably one or two thousand men, women, and children combined.

So many natives chased to the shore, and there were only two or three hundred people left on Pan Bufeng's main ship, and many of them were sick.

The natives immediately spotted the Song Dynasty's main ship and were completely shocked by its enormous size. There was an island reef on the shore, and the main ship docked directly on the shore.

At this time, more than a dozen people flashed out from the crowd of natives, among whom was an old man wearing a large feather hat, who should be the chief of these tribes.

Next to the old man stood a woman, and next to him was an old wizard. The old wizard stepped forward with a cane and said, "Baru, Gularelu! Bakabaka?"

God knows what kind of stuff he has, no one understands the native language. At this time, a dozen natives came over with the crew members who had just been shot. The captured crew members all looked depressed. The natives' bows and arrows must have been quenched with anesthetic or something.

Zhao Li looked at his men, all of whom had expressions of fear on their faces. If these natives attacked forcefully, the main ship might be taken away.

"Ba Ka Ba Ka?" the old wizard asked again, with anger on his face.

At this time, the natives shouted together: "Gularelu! Gularelu!"

Suddenly, Zhao Li threw away the sword in his hand, walked up to them and pointed at the sky: "Baru! Let's go to the fairyland, Ula Ula!"

The natives looked at each other, obviously they didn't understand what Zhao Li was saying. Then the chief waved his hand, and the natives immediately took up fighting stances, which surprised everyone.

Zhao Li involuntarily took a step back. It was over. There was no communication. The other party must think he was provoking us. We were doomed.

The natives drew their bows and arrows, and were about to attack when suddenly two huge cannon shots rang out from the deck: "Bang! Boom!"

It turned out that Pan Bufeng on the boat saw that the situation was not good, so he asked the gunner to fire two cannons.

The red cannon was fired from the main ship, and a puff of smoke rose from the ship. Then there was a "bang" sound and the cannon exploded in the direction it was pointing.

Now it was the natives' turn to be afraid, and everyone looked at the chief and the old wizard in horror.

The old wizard threw away his cane, bent over and knelt down, still shouting: "Russianhei!"

Then all the people knelt down immediately and shouted together: "Russianhei!"

Zhao Li and others were stunned for a moment, then suddenly realized that these natives must have regarded themselves as gods who had descended to earth.

That's right, Zhao Li wanted to pretend to be a god from the beginning, but he didn't have any magic skills. Fortunately, Pan Bufeng fired two red cannons, making the other party think he was a god.

Regardless of which nation, they will deify unknown things, and then totem worship will appear.

Pan Bufeng's two cannon shots made the natives think they were the god of thunder who could control thunder and lightning.

Then the nature of the situation changed immediately. The two sides, who were originally enemies, immediately became friends, and Zhao Li and his companions became guests of honor of these natives.

That night, a bonfire was lit in the native camp, and the chief personally received Zhao Li, Pan Bufeng and his party.

These natives were performing all kinds of strange dances around the campfire. They were singing and dancing, leaving everyone stunned.

Zhao Li ordered the crew to bring up the fine wine on the ship. He poured a glass of wine using exquisite Song Dynasty porcelain and sent it to the chief.

The chief hesitated for a moment, then took the drink and took a sip. He frowned, and the crowd immediately fell silent.

The natives looked at the chief's expression and thought that this liquid must not taste good.

Who knew that after the chief swallowed it, his eyes lit up and then he smiled.

Then the crowd exploded again, and the natives began to sing and dance again.

"Move it up!" Zhao Li waved his hand.

The crew carried the boxes one by one, and the natives fell silent again. They looked at the boxes curiously. One young native couldn't resist the curiosity and tried to touch a box, but was immediately beaten back by the steady old man.

Zhao Li stood up and opened a wooden box, which contained a box of silk.

The silk was smooth and soft. Zhao Li threw a large bag of silk to the woman beside the chief.

The chief's wife stroked the smooth and delicate silk, marveling and praising it. The natives gathered around, shouting excitedly and tearing the silk in handfuls, all wanting to feel the smoothness and delicacy of the silk.

The chief's wife was delighted. She draped the silk over her body like an animal skin and tied a few knots. "You don't, it has a unique flavor."

The chief's wife excitedly came to the campfire, twisted her body and started dancing. The natives immediately danced around the chief's wife.
